Still!

Slowly my anger is passing from yesterdays events but still not quite all gone. I just can't believe it happened. Now we're faced with new problems. One is changing our direct deposits from social security to our bank in Poland. So far I read it is only possible by going to the Federal Benefits Unit office either in Krakow or Warsaw and then ONLY after they give us an appointment time. Warsaw would be closer and that is where we will go if we have to.

Another is finding private insurance for Joan tomorrow so she will have a document stating that for her residency card application. It may be possible to do it over the phone to the U.S. but I won't know that until I call on Monday. We don't need a one year policy but I haven't read that a one month policy is possible. This is such a #@! mess. I still can't believe it happened. How could the MANAGER of the department of NFZ not asked in the very beginning about our pensions and then wrote the CORRECT contract.

I wrote an email to immigration and asked for an extension of deadline time because of these new problems. Of course, being Saturday, I won't have an answer until Monday.

My attitude about all this really sucks and I have to change it today.  Too much negative energy going through me, very unlike me. Tomorrow we have a guest coming over for the first time and I need to be in a better mental state.

Teraz mamy do czynienia z nowymi problemami. Warszawa będzie bliżej i to, gdzie pojedziemy, jeśli będzie trzeba.

Napisałem e-mail do imigracji i poprosił o przedłużenie czasu terminie z powodu tych nowych problemów.

  1. So sorry to read about the terrible time you are having with insurance. I wish there was an easy solution but it looks like there won't be one. Some things I can think of to make you feel better: you have your wonderful wife with you; you have several family members' birthdays and anniversaries to celebrate today; the weather is very nice; and we will be there to meet you on 14 July!

  2. I don't know if it will do any good but I sent this message to all my US elected representatives and I urge your readers to do the same:

I am writing this letter to my elected representatives. This is in regards to the exclusion of 65 and older American citizens living overseas. At the current time, these citizens are being denied a benefit held by senior American citizens living in the USA. American citizens living in countries outside of the USA are denied access to Medicare and Medicaid benefits, even though in most cases their medical care is substantially less costly than the USA. They are being forced to buy private insurance in most cases to cover medical care.
I urge you to sponsor a bill to include in the Medicare and Medicaid all citizens, regardless of where they may choose to live and retire.
