Sometimes.

March 29, 1947-May 3, 2015

Yes, sometimes what you get in the mail isn't what you think it is. Today, returning home, we found two items that looked like birthday cards from the addresses on the envelopes.. Both from Jankowice where my Piekarczyk cousins live and we have made the five hour trip to visit three times. I wrote to Edward on the occasion of his birthday in March and thought he had written back. The return address was from his wife and inside was an Easter Card. There was also a note sadly informing me that Edward had died on May 3rd..................2015. That was all it said. It saddened me to know he was gone but I was sadder that I was not informed about his death when it took place. It is the nail in the coffin for my continuing genealogy research. I have done all I can do to be close with this family here but so few care about it. It is time to be grateful for the few who do stay in contact and let the rest of them go. My search has ended and I am satisfied with all that I have found out.

Zarówno Jankowice, gdzie mieszkają moi kuzynowie Piekarczyk, a trzy razy, pięć godziny podróżujemy do Jankowice.

  1. I am sure you know the old saying "You an choose your friends, but not your family." It does sound like you and Joan have no problems making friends. I can't believe how long you have lived in Poland and I've been watching since the beginning. I believe I have told you that Kasia Gryca and I are very vaguely and distantly related by way of a step-marriage somewhere along the line. Cheers! Sharon/Shaz
