Ławicza

Official summer is not for two days but today it's 90F in our city and hot.

I was talking with someone heading to Portugal for vacation, leaving from our own airport. Our airport, Ławicza, is somewhat a mystery to me. In the last few years they have doubled it in size but still it has so few flights to foreign countries. Wrocław, a smaller city three hours south of here, has more. You can fly from here to Barcelona or Alicante, Spain but to go to Malaga you have the travel three hours to Wrocław. The flight to Malaga takes three hours. Sometimes it is faster to go from Berlin to another country than from Poznań. I don't understand this. Are the runways not long enough for bigger airplanes?

It is the same for our roads. Why is there no fast road from the western border to the eastern border or from the north to the south? Surely in thirty years since the government changed hands they could have been built by now to improve the economy and tourism. Are there no forward thinkers in Poland? Only those who wish to fill their own pockets? Where are the patriots of Poland who put the country before themselves? Why do we always settle for the lesser of two evils?

Lot do Malagi trwa trzy godziny. Czasem szybciej można jechać z Berlina do innego kraju niż z Poznania.

  1. Hot is relative. It is already 104F at 10 a.m. where I live near Phoenix. Predicted high for today is 118. Thank goodness for almost no humidity. My brother lives in southwest Florida where at present it is 99F and 99% humidity, That's unbearable (I used to live on the shore in South Carolina, but Arizona is better.) Cheers!
