La Manga

The pictures of the parade were from the Carnival in Santiago to celebrate the beginning of Lent. It is the most colorful parade in the region of Murcia. You can read more about it here. https://murciatoday.com/18th-february-grand-carnival-parade-in-santiago-de-la-ribera-on-the-shore-of-the-mar-menor_289596-a.html?a=67GwLk.

I woke up early today, 8:30, because I had an appointment with Enrique to have my hair cut and beard trimmed at 9:30. It's only a 5 minute walk there so I had no problem being on time.

I told him I wanted both hair and beard shortened this time. First he took his scissors and worked on shortening my hair, then trimmed my eyebrows and moustache. Next, for my beard he used an electric shaver and then applied a liquid soap to the parts of my face and neck where he would use a straight razor. A warm towel was applied to my face for a short time and then I was ready to be shaved. When he was done he did a little more trimming of my hair and beard, blew off the excess hair from my clothes and had me sit in another chair.

An assistant came over, put an apron over my clothes, combed my hair and also blew off excess hair. When she was done, Enrique applied an oil to my beard and an aftershave to my face.

After Carmelo left on this 19+c sunny day, we drove to La Manga because I wanted to have calamari romana for lunch.  Unfortunately that restaurant was closed. We drove a little farther on the beach road, found another harbor, parked in front of the Gran Torino restaurant(also closed) and walked downhill to the harbor. To our joyous surprise there were 5 restaurants open. We chose El Pez Rojo in Cabo de Palos because it had a second level outside overlooking the sea. We took a table by the guard rail and had a magnificent view. Joan had a Mediterranean salad and tiramisu with coffee and I had calamari romana with coffee.  We stayed as long as we could admiring the view and returned home about 18:00.

Zdjęcia z parady pochodziły z Karnawału w Santiago z okazji Wielkiego Postu. To najbardziej kolorowa parada w regionie Murcji.

Najpierw wziął nożyczki i pracował nad skróceniem moich włosów, potem przyciął moje brwi i wąsy. Następnie, użył golarki elektrycznej do mojej brody, po czym nałożył mydło w płynie na części twarzy i szyi, gdzie użyłby brzytwy. Na krótko ciepły ręcznik został nałożony na moją twarz, wreszcie byłem gotowy do ogolenia. Kiedy skończył, nieco bardziej przyciął moje włosy i brodę, zdmuchnął nadmiar włosów z moich ubrań i kazał mi usiąść na innym krześle.

Pojechaliśmy nieco dalej drogą  w kierunku plaży, znaleźliśmy inny port, zaparkowaliśmy przed restauracją Gran Torino (również zamkniętą) i zeszliśmy w dół do portu. Ku naszej radości  5 restauracji było otwartych. Wybraliśmy El Pez Rojo, ponieważ miała drugi poziom na zewnątrz z widokiem na morze. Wzięliśmy stolik przy relingu i mieliśmy wspaniały widok. Joan miała śródziemnomorską sałatkę i tiramisu z kawą i ja miałem calamari romana z kawą. Zostaliśmy tak długo, jak mogliśmy podziwiać widok i wróciliśmy do domu około 18:00.

You're going to miss Enrique--great haircut and beard trim. You look 10 years younger (well, maybe 5). :)

  2. I agree w. Anonymous...Enrique did a really good cut and trim...very
flattering (I tell you, David...place one of those historical Espanola
soldiers helmets on your head, and you'd pass as a true-blue Spaniard)!

Now...to suggest, if I may: when your return to Poland, print out this
photo of yourself, print out how you explained how the hair/beard-cut was done by Enrique (of course, the Polish
language version), and when it next comes time to get your hair coiffed, show your town barber the photo (in fact, prop it up on the counter in front of him) and read out the instructions carefully).

Oh yeah...and just make sure he isn't holding a 'straight razor' in his hand when you do all this "suggesting" ;~]) !!
