Road to Biedrusko

We went for a nice ride today on  a road not used much by cars but a lot by bicycles. It goes from Zlotniki to Biedrusko, about 15 kilometers. We only saw 2 other cars on the way but many bicycles. An interesting discovery was the ruins of an old church from the village of Chojnicy. Naturally I had to stop and take pictures while Joan waited in the car. I found out some of the history of this old church.

The ruins of the church are located in the former village of Chojnice and now a military training ground in Biedrusko. Once a lively village, a parish of several nearby villages such as Biedrusko or Suchy Las, today the ruins of the church are in the center of the military training ground without any trace of any other buildings and a few cemeteries forgotten in the forest.

The exact date is not known of the erection of the parish in Chojnica. Church documents show that this took place at the turn of the 11th-12th centuries.

At the beginning, Chojnica was the center of several smaller estates related by neighborhood, the so-called opole center (opole - an opolna organization, in the twelfth-thirteenth century settlement unit of western Slavs) and had its parish church p.w. St. John the Baptist (X-XI century) - this church is mentioned in the sources before 1374 and it may have existed already in the 11th century.

Today there is a new church in the town of Swadzim.

After that, we stopped at Sowa's for a little refreshment and were stunned when we tried to go home and the car wouldn't start. The battery appeared dead and neither of us brought our phone with us. I had no choice but to ask one of the girls in Sowa's to call a taxi for us to go home. Tomorrow my friend Radek will assist me in getting the problem taken care of.

Poszliśmy dzisiaj na niezłą przejażdżkę na drodze, która nie jest używana przez samochody, ale przez rowery. Od Złotników do Biedrusko, około 15 kilometrów. Widzieliśmy tylko 2 inne samochody po drodze, ale wiele rowerów. Ciekawym odkryciem były ruiny starego kościoła ze wsi Chojnicy. Naturalnie musiałem się zatrzymać i robić zdjęcia, podczas gdy Joan czekała w samochodzie.

Dowiedziałem się o historii tego starego kościoła.Ruiny kościoła znajdują się w dawnej wsi Chojnice, a obecnie poligonie wojskowym w Biedrusku. Raz żywa wioska, parafia kilku pobliskich wiosek, takich jak Biedrusko lub Suchy Las, dziś ruiny kościoła znajdują się w centrum poligonu wojskowego bez śladu jakichkolwiek innych budynków i kilku zapomnianych w lesie cmentarzy.Dokładna data nie jest znana z budowy parafii w Chojnicy. Dokumenty kościelne pokazują, że miało to miejsce na przełomie XI-XII wieku.Na początku Chojnica była centrum kilku mniejszych osiedli związanych z sąsiedztwem, tzw. Ośrodkiem opolskim (opole - organizacja opolna, w XII-XIII-wiecznej jednostce osadnictwa zachodnich Słowian) i posiadał kościół parafialny p.w. Św. Jana Chrzciciela (X-XI wiek) - kościół ten jest wymieniony w źródłach przed 1374 r. I mógł istnieć już w XI wieku.

Dzisiaj w mieście Swadzim znajduje się nowy kościół.


Potem zatrzymaliśmy się w Sowa's na trochę odświeżenia i byliśmy oszołomieni, gdy próbowaliśmy wrócić do domu, a samochód nie wystartował. Bateria wydawała się martwa i żadne z nas nie przyniosło naszego telefonu z nami. Nie miałem innego wyjścia, jak poprosić jedną z dziewcząt w Sowa, żeby wezwała taksówkę, żebyśmy wrócili do domu. Jutro mój przyjaciel Radek pomoże mi w rozwiązaniu problemu.

 

 

Fuimos a dar un agradable paseo hoy en una carretera que no usan mucho los automóviles, pero mucho en bicicleta. Va de Zlotniki a Biedrusko, a unos 15 kilómetros. Solo vimos otros 2 autos en el camino pero muchas bicicletas. Un descubrimiento interesante fueron las ruinas de una antigua iglesia del pueblo de Chojnicy. Naturalmente, tuve que parar y tomar fotos mientras Joan esperaba en el auto. Descubrí algo de la historia de esta antigua iglesia.Las ruinas de la iglesia se encuentran en el antiguo pueblo de Chojnice y ahora es un campo de entrenamiento militar en Biedrusko. Una vez un pueblo animado, una parroquia de varios pueblos cercanos como Biedrusko o Suchy Las, hoy las ruinas de la iglesia están en el centro del campo de entrenamiento militar sin ningún rastro de ningún otro edificio y algunos cementerios olvidados en el bosque.La fecha exacta no se conoce de la erección de la parroquia en Chojnica. Los documentos de la iglesia muestran que esto ocurrió a finales del siglo XI-XII.Al principio, Chojnica era el centro de varios estados más pequeños relacionados por vecindario, el llamado centro opole (opole - una organización opolna, en la unidad de asentamiento de los eslavos del siglo XII al XIII) y tenía su iglesia parroquial p.w. Hoy hay una nueva iglesia en la ciudad de Swadzim.

Después de eso, nos detuvimos en Sowa's para tomar un refrigerio y nos quedamos atónitos cuando tratábamos de ir a casa y el automóvil no arrancaba. La batería parecía estar muerta y ninguno de nosotros trajo nuestro teléfono con nosotros. No tuve más remedio que pedirle a una de las chicas de Sowa que llamara a un taxi para que nos fuéramos a casa. Mañana mi amigo Radek me ayudará a resolver el problema.
