A rather extreme version of the day.

Today was Smigus Dyngus day in Poland. It's an unusual tradition of Easter Monday. This day (Monday after Easter Sunday) is called also in Polish "Wet Monday", in Polish: "Mokry Poniedzialek" or "Lany Poniedzialek". Easter Monday is also a holiday in Poland. It was traditionally the day when boys tried to drench girls with squirt guns or buckets of water. "Smigus" comes from the word smigac meaning swish with a cane since men tap the ankles and legs of the girls. Dyngus comes probably from German word dingen which means to come to an agreement since the girls needed to give men money to stop being swished and splashed. The more a girl is sprayed with water, the higher are her chances of  getting  married. Usually groups of young boys are waiting for accidental passerbys near the farmer markets or in the corners of the streets. Older men behave like gentlemen spraying their wives with cologne water rather than with the regular one. The girls got their chances for revenge the following day. They can spray boys with water as much as they wanted on Tuesday.

Joan spent the afternoon taking all the ingredients given to her to make the salad I mentioned in an earlier post.  I helped her chopping up all the vegetables into little pieces and then she put it all together.  We'll have it tonight with rolada's.  I'm sure it will be good.

Dziś był dzień w Smigus Dyngus Polska. To niezwykły tradycji Poniedziałek Wielkanocny. Dziś (poniedziałek po Niedzieli Wielkanocnej) nazywa się także w języku polskim "Wet Monday ", w języku polskim: "Mokry Poniedziałka"lub"Lany Poniedziałka". Poniedziałek Wielkanocny jest także świętem w Polska. To był tradycyjnie dzień, kiedy chłopcy próbowali oblać dziewczyny z bronią squirt lub wiadra wody. Easter in Koniń.

We spent Easter in Koniń with our Kupiński relatives and relatives of Wiesa Kupińska. Krzysztof, Wiesia, Oliwia and Marcin were there along with Wiesia's sister Ela, their mother, Ela's husband Stanisław, their two daughters, Dorota and her partner Przymek and Anna with her husband Łukasz and their daughter, Julka.

We left home at 2PM and made a stop in Golina at 3:30PM to put a candle of great grandmother and great aunts grave. It's only 15 minutes from there to Koniń so we were on time and greeted by Krzysztof. After we were greeted we sat down at the table for a 3 hour long food fest. Five minutes later Wiesia's relatives arrived us and joined us. It's difficult to remember all the food for the first serving because there was so much, pork cutlets, salad, potatoes, another kind of meat, cabbage. etc. 

This was also a belated happy 25th wedding anniversary celebration for Krzysztof and Wiesia so we started off with a vodka toast to them. Later came toasts to children, grandmothers, grandfathers, etc.  I was driving so I only had one vodka for the first toast and then apple juice for the others.

After the first serving it was time for cakes, 3 different kind made by Wiesia, her mother and Urszula.  Urszula made the anniversary cake. There was also coffee, tea and more toasts.

About 6:30PM came the last of the food, rolled up ham, cheese, bread, salads, hard-boiled eggs but by that time I was already stuffed with food and didn't eat much.  Joan was too full to eat anything.

Finally at 8PM it was time to start our drive to Poznań so we said goodbye to everyone, thanked Krzyztof and Wiesia for inviting us, told Oliwia we would see her in England in two weeks and drove home.  It was about 10PM when we arrived so we watched an old comedy movie and went to bed about 12:30AM.  It was a long but good day.

Spędziliśmy Wielkanoc w Koniń z naszych krewnych Kupiński i krewnych Wiesa Kupińska. Krzysztof, Wiesia, Oliwia i Marcin byli tam razem z siostra Ela Wiesia, ich matka, mąż Stanisław Ela, ich dwie córki, Dorota i jej partner Przymek i Anna z mężem Łukaszem i ich córka Julka.

Opuściliśmy dom przy 2PM i dokonał zatrzymania w Golina na 15:30 umieścić świecę prababcia i ciotki wielki grób. To tylko 15 minut stamtąd do Koniń więc byliśmy na czas i powitał Krzysztof. Po zostaliśmy przywitani usiedliśmy przy stole i 3 godziny żywności długo fest. Pięć minut później Wiesia krewnych przyjechał do nas i do nas. Trudno zapamiętać wszystkie żywności dla pierwszej porcji, bo nie było tak dużo, kotlety wieprzowe, surówka, ziemniaki, inny rodzaj mięsa, kapusty. itp.

Była to także spóźniony zadowolony25-te obchody rocznicy ślubu Krzysztofa i Wiesia tak zaczynaliśmy z toast do nich wódki . Potem były toasty dla dzieci, babcie, dziadków itd. Jechałem więc tylko jedną wódkę na pierwszy toast, a następnie sok jabłkowy dla innych.

Po pierwszej porcji nadszedł czas na ciastka, 3 różne rodzaje przez Wiesia, jej matkę i Urszula. Urszula wykonane ciasto rocznicy. Nie było również kawę, herbatę i tosty.

O 18:30 nadeszła ostatnia żywności, zrolowane szynka, ser, pieczywo, sałatki, jajka na twardo, ale w tym czasie byłem już nadziewane z jedzeniem i nie jeść dużo. Joan była przepełniona do zjedzenia czegokolwiek.

Wreszcie o 8 wieczorem, że nadszedł czas, aby rozpocząć swoją jazdę do Poznania więc pożegnaliśmy się wszyscy, podziękował Krzyztof i Wiesia za zaproszenie, powiedział Oliwia to widzimy ją w Anglii w ciągu dwóch tygodni i pojechaliśmy do domu. Było to około godzina dwudziesta druga, kiedy przybył więc obejrzeliśmy stary film komedia i poszedł spać o 00:30. To był długi, ale dobry dzień.

White Eagle

Many, many years ago, or maybe even more, there lived three brothers, Lech, Czech, and Rus. For many years they had been living happily in their villages, but the families grew larger and they needed more space to live and more land to feed themselves.

The brothers decided to travel in different directions to search for new homes. Lech, Czech, and Rus traveled with their troops for many days. They rode their horses over mountains and rivers, through forests and wild country. There were no people to be found anywhere, not a town or tiny village. On the crest of a mountain top, they separated, each going in a different direction. Czech went to the left, Rus went to the right and Lech rode straight ahead, down the mountain and across vast plains.

One day Lech saw a splendid sight. He and his troops had come to a place where a meadow surrounded a small lake. They stopped at the edge of the meadow as a great eagle flew over their heads. It flew around in great swooping circles, then perched on its nest, high on a craggy rock. Lech stared in awe at the beautiful sight. As the eagle spread its wings and soared into the heavens again, a ray of sunshine from the red setting sun fell on the eagle’s wings, so they appeared tipped with gold, the rest of the bird was pure white.

“Here is where we will stay!” declared Lech. “Here is our new home, and we will call this place GNIEZNO … (the eagle’s nest).

He and his people built new houses and it became the center of his territory. They called themselves Polonians, which means “People of the Field”. They made a banner with a white eagle on a red field and flew it over the town of Gniezno, which became the first historical capital of Poland.

And, now you know how Poland began . . .

Polska Gościnność!

I asked an acquaintance for a recipe for a salad she made last month and gave me some to take home.  Joan and I both liked it very much and Joan wanted to make it.  I asked the lady for the recipe and today I was at her house.  She apologized for not having the time to write it and 15 minutes later, while I was talking to her son, she came in with a bag.  In the bag were all the ingredients to make the salad, potatoes, Celery root, ogórek kiszony(cucumbers in brine), leeks, hard-boiled eggs, canned peas and carrots. This is polskiej gościnności.........Polish hospitality.

Getting ready for Easter. I washed the car, cleaned the windows and got a haircut.  Now all I have to do is decide what to wear. I'm excited!!

Poprosiłem znajomego o przepis na sałatkę zrobiła w zeszłym miesiącu i dał mi do domu. Joan i ja lubi to bardzo dużo i Joan chciała to zrobić. I zwrócił się do pani za przepis i dziś byłem w jej domu. Ona przeprosił za brak czasu na napisanie go i 15 minut później, gdy rozmawiałem z jej syna, ale przyszedł z worka. W torbie były wszystkie składniki do sałatki, ziemniaki, seler, Ogórek kiszony (ogórki w zalewie), por, jajka na twardo, konserwy marchewki z groszkiem. To Polskiej gościnności ......... polskiej gościnności.

Przygotowania do Wielkanocy. Umyłem samochód, oczyszczone z okien, ale do fryzjera. Teraz wszystko co musisz zrobić, to zdecydować w co się ubrać. Jestem podekscytowana!

Eggs

Two more days of perfect weather so we were outside as much as possible, in the rynek for coffee and today food shopping and washing the car. Easter will be spent in Konin and next Thursday we'll return to  Golina to visit cousin Kazia and family.  I'm looking forward to that because it has been a long time between visits.

You know it's springtime when the drying rack is outside and the chairs are on the balcony :-)

In love again.

I'm almost 67 and I have a new love in my life.  She's a little younger, 1 1/2 years old to be exact but I've fallen head over heels for her.  It's our neighbors daughter, Zuzanna.  I saw her again today as I was leaving. She was standing in the hallway with her mother.  She was wearing a cute little cap with a coat on and this time when I took her little hand she smiled at me.  It was enough to captivate my heart.  I should have gotten my camera and took a picture of her and next time I will so you can see her.  She is absolutely stunning. Joan said she didn't mind :-)

The two month gas bill came in today.  Not always a good thing, especially for the winter months.  The gas bill was 886zl ($160 a month). We're still waiting for the electric bill to come in but we've turned off the gas for heating so the bill will dramatically drop until Ocotber.

Jestem prawie 67 i mam nową miłość w moim życiu. Ona jest trochę młodsza, 1 1 / 2 lat, które mają być dokładne, ale upadłem na łeb na szyję jej. To nasza córka sąsiadów, Zuzanna. Joan powiedziała, że ​​nie myśli :-)

Flats

Ah Spring!!!!!!!!  Time to bring out the balcony chairs and maybe do a little painting of the balcony wall.  It's starting to look a  little run down after two years here. We decided against putting flowers in the balcony boxes this year.  Too much work.
Another walk around the neighborhood today because it was so nice out. There are quite a few nice houses, of course, all new because it is a relatively new area developed a few years ago.  It's a mixture of flats and  private houses with most of the nicer houses on the west side.  Many places still do not have sidewalks and in the forested areas they are beginning to lay the groundwork for more flats or houses.

Ach wiosna !!!!!!!! Czas, aby wydobyć balkon krzesła, a może zrobić trochę obraz z balkonem ściany. To zaczyna wyglądać trochę spływać po dwóch latach tutaj. Zdecydowaliśmy się na wprowadzenie kwiaty na balkonie pola w tym roku. Za dużo pracy.

Home day.

A lonnnnnnnnnnnng mass today. A little girl was standing next to me where I was seated and was getting tired of standing. She politely turned down my offer.

It was just a day at home for us. Colder than yesterday so we decided to stay home, read, study and quiz each other.

Reading the Gospel of Mary I was surprised to read in Corinthians 14:34, women were told be quiet in church and if they wanted to learn something, they should learn it from their husbands.  A lot has changed since then I think.

Easter is fast approaching here and the preparations have started. The week after Easter schools are out and this week they only go Monday and Tuesday.

I was very happy to see the Chicago Bulls finally woke up in the fourth quarter and were able to defeat their opponent in this first game of the playoffs. GO BULLS!!! It's been a long time since the Jordan years and about time they had a good team again.

Długi masy dzisiaj. Mała dziewczynka stała obok mnie, gdzie ja siedziałem i był zmęczony stojąco. Ona grzecznie odrzucił moją ofertę.

To był dzień w domu dla nas. Chłodniej niż wczoraj, więc zdecydowaliśmy się pozostać w domu, czytać, studiować i quiz siebie.

Czytanie Ewangelii Marii Zdziwiłem się czytać w Corinthians 14:34, kobiety powiedział cicho w kościele i, jeśli chcą się czegoś nauczyć, powinni nauczyć się go od swoich mężów. Wiele się zmieniło od tego czasu myślę.

Byłem bardzo szczęśliwy, aby zobaczyć Chicago Bulls w końcu obudził się w czwartym kwartale i były w stanie pokonać swojego przeciwnika w pierwszym meczu play-off. GO BULLS! Minęło sporo czasu od roku Jordan i czas, mieli dobry zespół ponownie.

Satisfying Saturday.

In the afternoon we went to Browar to look for some spices Joan needed but didn't find them.  However, it was such a lovely day we just had to go outside and the spices were just an excuse to do that.  There were lots of little kids in Browar playing with the purple and yellow bunnies, picking them up and moving them around.  In front of Browar were large bunnies painted in many different colors.

After leaving Browar we walked to the rynek to have some coffee and were happy to see the familiar faces of waitresses from the last few years.  Most of them keep coming back year after year and we've been there enough now that they know us.  They even let us sit now at the table reserved for friends of the owner of Room 55. WOW!!!

The rynek was crowded with people and kiosks were set up selling different Easter items, bread, food and clothing. To our surprise the work on the north side of the rynek is already completed and outside cafes are opening on that side also.

We took Lubelta street back towards home and stopped at Chopin Park to look at the flowers and take some pictures of buildings.

Back at home we took a nice walk around the neighborhood before we went inside and I started to write todays blog.

Po południu poszliśmy do Browar poszukać przyprawy Joan potrzebna, ale nie znalazł. Jednak to był taki piękny dzień właśnie musieliśmy wyjść na zewnątrz i przyprawy był tylko pretekst, aby to zrobić. Było dużo małych dzieci, w Browar gry z zające purpurowy i żółty, zbierając je i porusza nimi. Przed Browar były duże króliki malowane w różnych kolorach.

Po opuszczeniu Browar poszliśmy do Rynek by napić się kawy i byli szczęśliwi, aby zobaczyć znajome twarze kelnerek z ostatnich kilku lat. Większość z nich wracać rok po roku i byliśmy tam tyle teraz, że znają nas. Nawet teraz siądźmy przy stole zastrzeżone dla znajomych właściciela Pokój 55. WOW!

Rynek był pełen ludzi i kioski zostały utworzone sprzedaży różnych przedmiotów, Wielkanoc, chleb, żywność i odzież. Ku naszemu zaskoczeniu pracy na północnej stronie Rynku jest już zakończona i na zewnątrz kawiarni otwarcie na tej stronie również.

Wzięliśmy ulicy Lubelta z powrotem w kierunku domu i zatrzymał się Chopin Park patrzeć na kwiaty i zrobić kilka zdjęć budynków.

Po powrocie do domu zrobiliśmy sobie miły spacer po okolicy, zanim wszedł do środka i zacząłem pisać blog dzisiejszego.

Nice day.

A beautiful day today after the clouds went away and the sun came out.

The big news today is the at the end of the year Bon Jovi will do a concert in Poznań. Evidently he is friends with Sting and after Sting's concert last year here to open the stadium he recommended Poznań.  Smart man!  I think much more could be done to promote  music concerts in Poznań other than just classical or jazz, although I love them both.

Finally, the works connected with the building development of the plot on the corner of Garbary street and Wodna street in Poznań, in the neighbourhood of the Old Market Square have been started. A 5-storey tenement will be constructed there.  You can read more about it in the latest News from Poznań.

Piękny dzień dzisiaj po chmury odszedł i wyszło słońce.


Wielkie dziś news jest na koniec roku Bon Jovi zrobi koncert w Poznaniu. Oczywiście, że jest znajomość z Sting i po koncercie Stinga w zeszłym roku tutaj, aby otworzyć stadion polecił Poznaniu. Człowiek Smart! Myślę, że wiele można zrobić, aby promować koncerty muzyki w Poznaniu innych niż klasyczna, jazz, choć kocham ich obu.

K-day and shopping.

On this sunny day we met with Zbyszek and talked about our upcoming trip to England.  We'll drive straight through to Calais, France on Saturday, April 30th, spend the night in Calais and then take the ferry in the morning to Dover.  From there we'll drive to RedHill to our friends Tony and Jackie and begin our week in England.

We had food shopping to do today, cost was high, 178zl because Joan is making the famous Anna Dan cheesecake and she had some other things to buy.  I like doing the shopping on Thursday because there are fewer people in the store and it goes much faster.  We are usually done in 45 minutes and on our way back home within one hour.

Na tej słoneczny dzień spotkaliśmy się ze Zbyszek i rozmawialiśmy o zbliżającej się podróży do Anglii. Będziemy jechać prosto aż do Calais we Francji w sobotę, 30 kwietnia spędzić noc w Calais, a następnie promem rano do Dover. Stamtąd pojedziemy do Redhill do naszych przyjaciół Tony i Jackie i rozpoczynamy tydzień w Anglii.

Mieliśmy Zakupy zrobić dzisiaj, koszt był wysoki, bo 178zl Joan robi słynny sernik Dan i Anna miała inne rzeczy do kupienia. Lubię robić zakupy w czwartek, ponieważ są mniej ludzi w sklepie i idzie o wiele szybciej. Jesteśmy zwykle w 45 minut, a na naszej drodze powrotnej do domu w ciągu godziny.

Doc, weather, Easter and new book.

Finally saw the neurologist today who confirmed my brain was in tact.  He thinks I am having something called Cluster Headaches so naturally he prescribed a new med for that.

Outside it was a chilly, damp, gray, rainy day so it gave us time to finish off the Spring cleaning.  Man, I'm glad that is done.  The flat always looks clean but those cabinet tops and under the bed sure do collect a lot of dust.

We were going to have guests over for dinner Saturday night but, unfortunately, one of them has the flu now and it's unlikely they can come.  We'll have to reschedule it for another time.

Easter is not far off, the 24th, and we're looking forward to going to cousin Krzysztof's house for the day.  It's always nice to get together with family for a holiday.

I've been reading an interesting book, The Gospel of Mary.  I didn't know such a thing existed until recently. It's not the whole Gospel because so far only 8 pages have been discovered of it but the first pages were found in the 2nd century in Egypt and other pages later. It is part of what are called the Gnostic Gospels and there are others that were not included in the Bible. You can do a search on Google for them if you're interested.

Wreszcie zobaczyłem neurologa, który potwierdził dzisiaj mój mózg był w takt. On myśli, że ja mam coś o nazwie Cluster Bóle głowy tak naturalnie, że przewidziany w nowym med do tego.


Na zewnątrz był chłodny, wilgotny, szary, deszczowy dzień tak to dał nam czas do wykończenia Porządki wiosenne. Człowiek, cieszę się, że jest wykonywana. Mieszkanie czyste, ale zawsze szuka tych szafek i blatów pod łóżko, czy nie zebrać dużo kurzu.

Mieliśmy mieć gości na obiad w sobotę w nocy, ale, niestety, jeden z nich ma grypę i teraz jest to mało prawdopodobne, aby mogły wejść. Będziemy musieli przełożyć to na inny czas.

Wielkanoc nie jest daleko, 24, a my się doczekać do domu kuzyna Krzysztof za dnia. Zawsze miło spotkać się z rodziną na wakacje.

Czytałem ciekawą książkę, Ewangelia Marii. Nie wiem takie rzeczy istniał do niedawna. Nie całej Ewangelii, ponieważ do tej pory tylko 8 stron zostały odkryte, ale z pierwszych stron znalezionych w 2 wieku w Egipcie i innych stron później. To jest część tego, co nazywane są Ewangelie gnostyckie i są inne, które nie były zawarte w Biblii. Można to zrobić wyszukiwania w Google dla nich, jeśli jesteś zainteresowany.

Cold

A cold and windy day with a little rain thrown in. We didn't have to go anywhere so we spent much of the day studying and writing homework assignments.

Once again I met little Zuzanna on the stairs and stopped to say hello to her. She always looks like she's in shock when she sees me but she does not back away from me when I take her little hand.  Her tiny little fingers were cold from the outside walk she just returned from with her mother. I rubbed her hands to warm them up and she smiled at me.  What a thrill!!!!

Again tomorrow our Kandulski meeting is cancelled because of a doctor appointment. Two weeks in a row is a little too much.  I'll have to find another doctor if this keeps up :-)

Zimno i wietrznie dzień mały deszcz rzucony w. Nie musisz nigdzie iść, więc spędziliśmy większość dnia nauki i pisania prac domowych.

Po raz kolejny spotkał się trochę Zuzanna na schodach i zatrzymał się przywitać z nią. Ona zawsze wygląda jakby była w szoku, kiedy mnie widzi, ale ona nie odwracają się od mnie, gdy się jej rączki. Jej malutkie palce były zimne z zewnątrz, spacerem ona właśnie wrócił z ze swoją matką. I wytarła ręce ogrzać je i uśmiechnęła się do mnie. Jakie emocje!!

Jutro Kandulski nasze spotkanie jest odwołane z powodu powołania lekarza. Dwa tygodnie z rzędu to trochę za dużo. Będę musiał znaleźć innego lekarza, jeżeli utrzymuje się :-)

Test time.

A big week for students in Poland, those who will be going to high school next year.  This week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday they take tests of everything they have learned in the last three years.  For most, the scores they get on the tests will determine which schools will or will not accept them. I'm sure they feel the pressure from this. Schools have point requirements and in order to get into the best high schools you, naturally, have to have the amount of points they require.  If you don't then you have to choose a school of lesser quality.

I read today that Poland is considered to have the most shale gas under the ground but the location hasn't been discovered yet.  There are teams of Polish, American and Russian geologists looking for it but no luck so far.  If it is discovered it will be a big boost for Poland\s economy. American technology to produce shale gas is unleashing a scramble for drilling rights in Poland, where experts believe vast reserves of unconventional gas exist that could help to weaken Russia’s grip on Europe’s energy supplies.

ConocoPhillips is poised to launch Poland’s first shale gas drilling programme next month near Gdansk on the Baltic coast. Two other American oil groups — Exxon-Mobil and Marathon — and Talisman Energy, of Canada, are set to follow. If confirmed, it would boost the European Union’s proven reserves of natural gas, which stand at 101 trillion cubic feet, by 47 per cent and be enough to make Poland, which imports 72 per cent of its gas, self-sufficient for the foreseeable future.

Taxes

The Smolensk tragedy has been replayed for the last three days on TV and it's overkill. We needed to take a break from it so we decided to do our taxes for last year.  I don't know which was worse, the TV programs or doing taxes.  The taxes aren't so bad actually with the software we use, it's just getting the information together, entering the data and then printing them out to be mailed. I'll use UPS or DHL for mailing so I get a receipt for them being received.

So that is how we spent the afternoon today, doing taxes, even though it was sunny outside.  I did meet with our next door neighbor on the street and their little daughter, Zuzanna.  She is such a cutie............and walking now.  I took her hand and said hello while she just stared at me.  She reminds me of cousin Rózia when she was that age.

Tragedia Smoleńsk został powtórzony w ciągu ostatnich trzech dni, w TV i to jest przesada. Musieliśmy zrobić przerwę od niego, więc zdecydowaliśmy się zrobić z naszych podatków za rok ubiegły. Ona jest taka urocza ............ i chodzenie teraz. I wziął ją za rękę i powiedział: witam, a ona tylko spojrzał na mnie. Ona przypomina mi kuzyna Rózia, gdy była w ich wieku.

Surprising breakfast!

Unusual morning. We didn't have our meeting on Wednesday at Kandulski's so we went there this morning  for a breakfast of makowiec, kostka śnicer(snickers) and coffee.  Great breakfast!!

They finally replaced the broken windows and frames but haven't repaired the outside of the building.

After leaving Kandulski's we stopped at Carrefour for bread and coffee, then went home to continue with Spring cleaning.  Today was my day to do the windows, clean all the glass in the cabinets, vacumn the rugs and wash the windowsills.  It was a nice day for it, about 14c, sunny and no wind.

I took a break and continued reading from the Tales of the Alhambra and listened to the Concerto Aranjuez while I read. You should all see the Alhambra, even if it's just taking the Virtual Walking Tour of the Alhambra on the internet.  It's really quite an incredible place in Granada and the book was written many years ago when the Alhambra was not recognized as a national treasure.  People were still living in different parts of it and Washington Irving, the author, lived there while he wrote the book.  I like to read about the legends that surround the place and the hidden passages he discovered while he lived there.  If life permits, I will definitely go back there again.

Niezwykłe rano. Nie mieliśmy spotkania w środę o Kandulski tak poszliśmy tam dziś rano na śniadanie makowiec, kostka śnicer (snickers) i kawy. Great breakfast!


W końcu otrzymuje rozbite okna i ramy, ale nie naprawiane na zewnątrz budynku.

Po opuszczeniu Kandulski to zatrzymaliśmy się w Carrefour na chleb i kawę, a następnie udał się do domu, aby kontynuować czyszczenie Spring. Dziś był mój dzień do okna, oczyścić wszystkie szyby w szafach, vacumn dywanów i mycie parapetów. To był dobry dzień na to, o 14c, słonecznie i bezwietrznie.

Friday

Another lesson, this one all vocabulary I've learned from the previous 6 lessons.  I think I got about 75% of it right. I had the most problems with the long expressions.

The weather has gone backwards a little in the last few days with gray skies and rain. However, the yellow forsythia\s definetly remind you that Spring is here and warm times are ahead. It really wasn't that bad of a winter but it's always nice to see Spring.

I had a chance to see cousin Janusz via Skype today and it was nice to say hello again.  Another big surprise was an email from cousin Ola Mejer because I've been trying to get in touch with her since our last meeting in January...............or was it December?  She called me the next day but unfortunately I didn't hear the call when it came in.

Inna lekcja, to wszystko dla słownictwo nauczyłem się od poprzednich 6 lekcji. Myślę, że mam około 75% to dobrze. Miałem największe problemy z długimi wyrażeniami.

Car

The car is fixed and the tires changed for summer.  Cost for replacing one shock absorber spring, balancing and changing tires.........332zl($117)

More house cleaning today, not my favorite thing but a necessity.  Amazing how much dirt collects even with all the doors and windows closed.  Next big project is to wash all the windows.  Since we have the old type windows in our flat, that means washing the outer pane of glass and then the inner pane.  It's a real pain :-) but I like it.

We invited two acquaintances over for dinner next weekend and are looking forward to it. Both are artists and interesting to talk with.

Two and a half weeks and Easter will be here and we'll have a chance to see cousin Oliwia Kupińska again since she is coming home from England for the holiday.

#51, #16, #91 and #64

Beautiful day today and a new adventure.  Last night I discovered the spring surrounding my car's shock absorber on the right side was broken so every time I made a turn there was a thumping sound.  This morning I took the car to the repair shop for verification of the problem and they advised me to leave the car for repair.  They also reminded me that it was time to change the tires again but I didn't bring them so I drove home, picked them up and returned.  I had to leave the car overnight and the only way home was by taxi or bus.  I chose the bus, actually 4 buses. I checked the bus routes to get back home and no bus went directly home.  I had to take four different busses to get home. 

After I dropped off the car I walked to the first bus stop only to discover that there was no bus stop for #51, the one that I needed.  I looked at the map again and realized the stop was on a totally different street, some 10 blocks away. I was suppose to take bus #51, then bus #61, then bus #91 and finally #64.  I looked at the map on the closest bus stop and it showed another bus the would take me to #64 but it was also 8 blocks away.  I started walking and it was a great day for a walk.  The forsythia bushes are all in bloom and the tulips in front of our flat are opening.  It took me a little over an hour to get home on the buses but it was an enjoyable time.  Don't you just love Spring?  Warm weather, spring cleaning, blooming flowers, less clothing to wear, outside cafes, coffee on the balcony, etc, etc, etc.

Piękny dzień dzisiaj i nowa przygoda. Ostatniej nocy odkryłem na wiosnę i okolic mój samochód amortyzator po prawej stronie został złamany tak za każdym razem zrobiłem kolei był cholerny dźwięk. Dziś rano wziąłem samochód do warsztatu w celu weryfikacji problem a oni doradzili mi, aby zostawić samochód do naprawy. Również przypomniał mi, że nadszedł czas, aby zmienić opony ponownie, ale nie przyniosło im więc pojechaliśmy do domu, wziął je i wrócił. Musiałem zostawić samochód na noc i droga do domu była tylko taksówką lub autobusem. Wybrałem autobus, rzeczywiście 4 autobusów. Sprawdziłem linie autobusowe wrócić do domu autobusem i nie poszedł prosto do domu. Musiałem podjąć cztery autobusy do domu.


Po tym jak odpadł samochodu chodziłem do pierwszego przystanku tylko odkryć, że nie było przystanku autobusowego na # 51, jedno z nich potrzebne. Spojrzałem na mapę i ponownie realizowane przystanku na ulicy był zupełnie inny, około 10 bloków dalej. I było przypuszczać, aby wsiąść do autobusu # 51, następnie autobusem # 61, następnie autobusem # 91 i # 64 w końcu. Spojrzałem na mapę, na najbliższym przystanku i pokazał kolejny autobus zabierze mnie do # 64, ale to było także 8 bloków dalej. I zaczął chodzić i to był wielki dzień dla spaceru. New books.

In less than two weeks I received my book order from Amazon. com.  It surprised me to get them already.  Three books which I never knew existed.........the Gospel of Mary, the Gospel of Thomas and the Gnostic Gospels. I learned about them last month and found it interesting enough to read more about them.  The only thing I've been reading for the last few years are Polish language books so I thought it was time I did some new reading.

I forgot to mention that last weekend was the Half-Marathon in Poznań in which over 4,000 runners took part.  The full Marathon takes place on Oct 16th.

W niecałe dwa tygodnie dostałam moje zamówienie książki z Amazon. com. Zaskoczyło mnie, aby je już. Trzy książki, które nigdy nie wiedziałem, istnieje ......... Ewangelii Maryja, Ewangelia Tomasza i gnostyckiej Ewangelii. Dowiedziałem się o nich w zeszłym miesiącu i stwierdziła, że ​​na tyle interesujące, aby przeczytać więcej o nich. Spacerować

The man was right about the weather today, beautiful.  Naturally we had to go to the rynek to see if the cafes were indeed open from April 1st starting this year and we were happy to confirm it.  Our favorite was open, full of people although, due to putting in new sewer pipes the cafes on the north side won't be open for some time.

Joan had to buy some organic bran so we walked up Pojwieska street to Stary Browar to the shop where she buys it.  We've walked this street many times but today was the first time I noticed a nice, two tone brick building on the right side just past the Hemp shop.  You can see the pictures of it in the slideshow.

We walked back to the rynek and sat down for our first outside coffee. It was good to be home :-)

Sat.

Weatherman was right, gray, cloudy and rain today.  I had a few things to do in town so I left about 10AM and got back in time to taste Joan's new walnut quick bread.  Another new treat from the kitchen.  I hope tomorrow is nicer outside so we can go out and play a little.  We watched the movie Mamma Mia last night and it was good.  Very entertaining and musical although I was never a big fan of Abba.  Our second movie was Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio, a very strange movie and hard to follow sometimes.

Pogoda człowiek miał rację, szary, pochmurny i deszcz dzisiaj. Friday

Friday and that means another lesson day with Zbyszek.  I record the lesson and then play it back everyday to catch the things I miss during the lesson.  The lessons are intense, the way I like them and next week is concentration on vocabulary from four chapters.  That's about 200 words but not just words, sometimes expressions so it's gonna take a lot of work to get it all memorized by then. This is what I wanted and it reminds me of the old saying, "Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it" :-)

The day was warm, 20c and sunny most of the day until evening.  Now it's partly cloudy and darkness is creeping in at 7:20PM.  Tomorrow the forecast is 17c with a little rain and Sunday 21c and partly cloudy.  Sunday may be a good day to go somewhere new.
