A  dreary day, meaning totally gray, light rain and a little chilly.

I received news from the Probate Court in Ohio that they will correct the mistake on one of Joan's documents that is holding up our progress in the Polish civil registry. All I have to do is send Joan's birth certificate and a check for $15. Once received, they will give it to a judge to sign the correction and then they will send it to us. Of course, it involves the mail systems so this could take at least 2 more months to wait. When we have the new document we can return to the civil registry to see what other reason(s) they have to reject Joan's documents. There is a small problem in that we do not have "checks" like in the U.S. So, we have to send the documents first to Joan's daughter who then puts in the check and sends it to the Probate Court. That, in itself, causes a delay.

However, on the bright side, I did pass my driver's license test and today I learned that  Joan's EU residency permit approval has been sent to Warsaw for the printing of her renewal card. They will notify us by email when she can pick up the card, within 2-3 weeks. So now we are only dealing with the long-term problem of the civil registry. 2 things accomplished, 1 more to go. This is good.

Otrzymałem wieści z sądu spadkowego w Ohio, że naprawią błąd w jednym z dokumentów Joan, który opóźnia postęp sprawy w urzędzie stanu cywilnego. Wszystko, co muszę zrobić, to wysłać akt urodzenia Joan i czek na 15 USD. Po otrzymaniu przekażą je sędziemu do podpisania sprostowania, a następnie wyślą je do nas. Oczywiście, to obejmuje systemy pocztowe, więc oczekiwanie może potrwać jeszcze 2 miesiące. Kiedy mamy nowy dokument, możemy wrócić do USC, aby zobaczyć, z jakich innych powodów muszą odrzucić dokumenty Joan. Istnieje niewielki problem polegający na tym, że nie mamy „czeków”, jak w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Musimy więc najpierw wysłać dokumenty córce Joan, która następnie wystawi czek i prześle go do sądu spadkowego. To samo w sobie powoduje opóźnienie.

Z drugiej strony, zdałem egzamin na prawo jazdy i dzisiaj dowiedziałem się, że zezwolenie Joan na pobyt w UE zostało wysłane do Warszawy w celu wydrukowania jej przedłużonej karty. W ciągu 2-3 tygodni powiadomią nas e-mailem, kiedy będzie mogła odebrać kartę. Więc teraz mamy do czynienia tylko z długoterminowym problemem w usc. Dwie rzeczy osiągnięte, jeszcze 1. do zrobienia. Jest dobrze.

Nie, nie będę się interesować najnowszymi wiadomościami politycznymi z USA. Jak mówi stare powiedzenie amerykańskich Indian: „Wczoraj był las, jutro będzie popiół, tylko dzisiaj ogień płonie jasno”.
