Radek and I talked about the inflation, the war in Ukraine, the latest Texas school massacre, and then for the second hour, it was Spanish. I record all of our Spanish time and then relisten to it during the week. I don't know why but sometimes the recorder turns itself off. I went into the settings on the phone and set the screen to stay vivid for a long time so I can observe the recording.

In the afternoon, I had an appointment at 16:00(4 PM) with my urologist for my semi-annual checkup. I gave him my latest PSA blood test and he was happy with the result. So was I. Everything is fine at this time.

The United States needs to follow the lead of the Canadian Prime Minister to learn how democracy should work.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's government introduced legislation Monday that would put a freeze on importing, buying, or selling handguns.

"We are capping the number of handguns in this country," Trudeau said.

The regulations to halt the growth of personally owned handguns are expected to be enacted this fall.

"It will be illegal to buy, sell, transfer or import handguns anywhere in Canada," the prime minister said.

Radek i ja rozmawialiśmy o inflacji, wojnie w Ukrainie, ostatniej masakrze w szkole w Teksasie, a na drugiej godzinie był język hiszpański. Nagrywam cały nasz czas, kiedy rozmawiamy po hiszpańsku, a potem odsłuchuję go w ciągu tygodnia. Nie wiem dlaczego, ale czasami nagrywarka sama się wyłącza. Wszedłem w ustawienia telefonu i ustawiłem tak, że ekran ma pozostać czynny przez dłuższy czas, abym mógł obserwować nagrywanie.

Radek y yo hablamos de la inflación, de la guerra en Ucrania, de la última matanza en una escuela de Texas, y luego, durante la segunda hora, de español. Grabo toda nuestra hora de español y luego la vuelvo a escuchar durante la semana. No sé por qué, pero a veces la grabadora se apaga sola. Today was an extension of yesterday with the exception of Bartosz working with Joan for an hour. Yesterday I was able to get her to make 4 sets of 10 squats during the day. Tomorrow I will try for an additional set to increase to 50 per day. She is a little resistant but in the end, complies.

I read that because of the war, there is a shortage of wire cables for automobiles. The humble wire harness, a cheap component that bundles cables together, has become an unlikely scourge of the auto industry. Some predict it could hasten the downfall of combustion cars.

Dzisiejszy dzień był przedłużeniem wczorajszego, z tym że Bartosz pracował z Joan przez godzinę. Wczoraj udało mi się nakłonić ją do zrobienia 4 powtórzeń po 10 przysiadów w ciągu dnia. Jutro postaram się o jedeno dodatkowe , aby zwiększyć do 50 dziennie. Joan jest trochę oporna, ale w końcu się zgadza.

We spent most of the day resting and watching various programs. The best was a documentary about the life of Quincy Jones. He is a musician from the south side of Chicago. Actually, he is more than just a musician who plays an instrument. 

He is an American record producer, musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, and film and television producer. His career spans 70 years in the entertainment industry with a record of 80 Grammy Award nominations, 28 Grammys, and a Grammy Legend Award in 1992.

Jones came to prominence in the 1950s as a jazz arranger and conductor before working on pop music and film scores. He moved easily between musical genres, producing Lesley Gore's major pop hits of the early 1960s (including "It's My Party") and serving as an arranger and conductor for several collaborations between the jazz artists Frank Sinatra and Count Basie in the same time period. In 1968, Jones became the first African American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song for "The Eyes of Love" from the film Banning. Jones was also nominated for an  Academy Award for Best Original Score for his work on the 1967 film In Cold Blood, making him the first African American to be nominated twice in the same year. Jones produced three of pop star Michael Jackson's most successful albums: Off The Wall  (1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987). In 1985, Jones produced and conducted the charity song "We Are the World" to raise funds for victims of famine in Ethiopia.

This is political.

 My wife and I are expats. We moved to Poland 15 years ago in search of my family roots. Since that time, my opinion of the U.S. has changed due to truths I was not aware of before. For example, how the U.S. betrayed Poland toward the end of WWII when it gave Poland to the Soviet Union.  However, we still are concerned about what happens there because we have children, grandchildren, friends and other relatives still living there. So, we are concerned about the future of the country. Therefore I ask you this question?

Which do you choose, Democracy, Autocracy, or Dictatorship? You have a choice to make before the mid-term elections. Make no mistake in thinking the Republicans will not be voting against Democracy. It is already evident in some of the early elections. The Trump camp will be intact for that election. It is impossible to change their minds. Common Sense author, Thomas Paine knew this when he wrote over 200 years ago, “To argue with a man who has renounced the use and authority of reason, and whose philosophy consists in holding humanity in contempt, is like administering medicine to the dead or endeavoring to convert an atheist by scripture.”  Today's Republicans are a perfect fit for that quote. That was written 247 years ago and, unfortunately, it is VERY pertinent today.

How can it be that 2 ½ centuries later, the very ideals that the country was founded on are more in peril than ever? That is why this upcoming election is so important to start working on it now. “The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all”-John F. Kennedy. In today's world, it is the ignorance of 72 million American voters who have been lied to for the last 6 years. And it’s something we’ve seen a lot with the doom-spreading prophecies that Donald Trump is going to run for president in 2024. His 2019 withholding of military aid to Ukraine to try to pressure Ukrainian president Zelenski into supporting his lies is also being re-examined under the harsh light of this war. The Republicans are clearly gearing up to try to steal the mid-term election or, at least, challenge or try to reverse every one they lose. A total of 469 seats in the U.S. Congress (34) Senate seats and all 435 House seats are up for election on November 8, 2022. It is crucial that the Republicans do not control either the Senate or the House of Representatives if President Biden has any hope of repairing the damage done to the U.S. and its allies

It is time to support the Democracy of America. No one can sit on the sidelines for the mid-term elections. “I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion”.-Alexander the Great. Don't be one of the sheep! Millions of Americans have died for this country, fighting to protect Democracy. Don't let this election continue the demise of America. Do whatever you can to help this election be a victory for it. Your children and grandchildren deserve nothing less.

You are on social media platforms as probably your friends are. Please share this with them and ask them to do the same. It is time to realize this election, as well as in 2024, will set the direction the U.S. will go, either up or down. It is up to you and  I to help it go up. Don't let it be the Rise and Fall of the United States of America.

Moja żona i ja jesteśmy emigrantami. Przeprowadziliśmy się do Polski 15 lat temu w poszukiwaniu moich rodzinnych korzeni. Od tego czasu moja opinia o Stanach Zjednoczonych zmieniła się dzięki prawdom, których wcześniej nie byłem świadomy. Na przykład o tym, jak USA zdradziły Polskę pod koniec II wojny światowej, kiedy oddały ją Związkowi Radzieckiemu.  Nadal jednak martwimy się o to, co się tam dzieje, ponieważ mamy dzieci, wnuki, przyjaciół i innych krewnych, którzy nadal tam mieszkają. Martwimy się więc o przyszłość tego kraju. Dlatego zadaję Wam to pytanie.

Co wybieracie: demokrację, autokrację czy dyktaturę? Przed prawyborami  musicie dokonać wyboru. Nie popełnijcie błędu, myśląc, że Republikanie nie będą głosować przeciwko demokracji. Widać to już w niektórych przedterminowych wyborach. Obóz Trumpa będzie nienaruszony do tych wyborów. Nie da się zmienić ich poglądów. Autor Common Sense, Thomas Paine, wiedział o tym, gdy ponad 200 lat temu pisał: "Spierać się z człowiekiem, który wyrzekł się używania i autorytetu rozumu i którego filozofia polega na pogardzaniu ludzkością, to jak podawać lekarstwa zmarłemu lub próbować nawrócić ateistę za pomocą pisma świętego".  Dzisiejsi republikanie doskonale pasują do tego cytatu. Inflation

 2023 will be a very difficult year in Poland.

According to the newest and most updated predictions, Poland will have the highest inflation rate in Europe in 2023.

Inflation in 2023 in Poland will rise to 7.3 percent on an annual basis, according to the forecasts prepared by the European Commission. 

It looks like we will continue to pay a very big price mainly due to the consequences of the war in Ukraine.

For the current year, European Commission is just lowering the growth forecast for Poland and it is evident that the inflation rate is running at a much higher rate than the one forecasted, unfortunately.

This is a direct consequence of the fall of trade with Ukraine and Russia and the rise in inflation, which is already at a record level and is already speeding up.

Currently, year-on-year inflation in April 2022 reached the peak point of 12.3%,  the highest in more than 20 years, which means that we pay so much more for products and services in comparison with March 2021.

Specifically in Poland economic growth will still be above the EU average rate and will reach the level of 3.7 % while in 2023 is forecasted to grow at a 3% rate.

As a consequence of the political situation, the average annual inflation in Europe in 2022 will reach 6.1% (previously was forecasted at 4 % growth in inflation).

In summary in Poland prices will grow the fastest in Europe and will come back to the Central bank's target just in 2024.

Rok 2023 będzie w Polsce bardzo trudny. 

Według najnowszych i najbardziej aktualnych prognoz, w 2023 roku Polska będzie miała najwyższą w Europie stopę inflacji. 

Inflacja w 2023 r. w Polsce wzrośnie do 7,3 proc. w ujęciu rocznym - wynika z prognoz przygotowanych przez Komisję Europejską. 

Wygląda na to, że nadal będziemy płacić bardzo dużą cenę, głównie ze względu na skutki wojny na Ukrainie. 

Na bieżący rok Komisja Europejska właśnie obniża prognozę wzrostu gospodarczego dla Polski i widać, że inflacja jest niestety dużo wyższa niż prognozowana. 

Jest to bezpośrednia konsekwencja spadku wymiany handlowej z Ukrainą i Rosją oraz wzrostu inflacji, która jest już rekordowo wysoka i przyspiesza. 

Obecnie inflacja rok do roku w kwietniu 2022 r. osiągnęła najwyższy od ponad 20 lat poziom 12,3%, co oznacza, że w porównaniu z marcem 2021 r. za produkty i usługi płacimy o wiele więcej. 

Konkretnie w Polsce wzrost gospodarczy nadal będzie wyższy od średniego tempa w UE i osiągnie poziom 3,7%, a w 2023 roku prognozuje się wzrost na poziomie 3%. 

W wyniku sytuacji politycznej, średnioroczna inflacja w Europie w 2022 r. wyniesie 6,1% (wcześniej prognozowano wzrost inflacji o 4%). 

Podsumowując, w Polsce ceny będą rosły najszybciej w Europie i powrócą do oceny banku centralnego dopiero w 2024 roku. 

Konkretnie, większa niepewność co do prognoz polityczno-gospodarczych i podwyższona inflacja mają zmniejszyć skłonność gospodarstw domowych do wydawania pieniędzy.

El año 2023 será muy difícil en Polonia. 

Según las últimas y más actualizadas previsiones, en 2023 Polonia tendrá la mayor tasa de inflación de Europa. 

La inflación en Polonia en 2023 ascenderá al 7,3% anual, según las previsiones elaboradas por la Comisión Europea. 

Parece que seguiremos pagando un precio muy alto, principalmente por los efectos de la guerra en Ucrania. 

Para este año, la Comisión Europea acaba de rebajar su previsión de crecimiento económico para Polonia, y podemos ver que la inflación es desgraciadamente mucho más alta de lo previsto. 

Esto es una consecuencia directa de la caída del comercio con Ucrania y Rusia y del aumento de la inflación, que ya está en un nivel récord y se está acelerando. 

Actualmente, la inflación interanual de abril de 2022 alcanzó su nivel más alto en más de 20 años, con un 12,3%, lo que significa que, en comparación con marzo de 2021, estamos pagando mucho más por los productos y servicios.

Happy 77th birthday.

 77 years ago the woman was born for me to love as I have for the last 47 years.

I started the day with flowers and a breakfast of bulgar and dried fruits. Then we watched a movie until early afternoon when we went to pick up 2 pictures I had framed. Joan's picture and the one of the house I built.

A friend, Malgorzata, told me about a new restaurant she was at last week and recommended it. She said the food they served was put together very differently and she liked it very much. I thought it would be an excellent place to take Joan for a birthday lunch. It was on the other side of town in the area called Jezycze. I know the area well from our previous life in the old apartment we had. There is a marketplace there where I buy Muscovy duck breasts sometimes. The name of the restaurant is Ciuciupaj(Choo choo pie). Fortunately, there was a parking spot right in front of their front door.

It is a small restaurant, with 8 tables and it has been there for 8 years. The menu was very varied with many different foods to try. However, when Joan saw the display case with cakes and pastries, she decided she would rather have dessert and coffee. It was her birthday so I didn't push the issue. She looked over the display and chose a strawberry cheesecake. Drinking coffee with it. she was very pleased with her choice.

When she and I were finished and the sun was shining, I took her to Solacki park for a little wheelchair ride around it. Together we spent about 2 hours there and then got into the traffic jammed road to our flat.

Jest to mała restauracja, z 8 stolikami, istniejąca od 8 lat. Menu było bardzo urozmaicone i można było spróbować wielu różnych potraw. Jednak gdy Joan zobaczyła witrynę z ciastami i ciasteczkami, zdecydowała, że woli zjeść deser i napić się kawy. To były jej urodziny, więc nie naciskałem. Obejrzała wystawę i wybrała sernik truskawkowy. Popijając go kawą, była bardzo zadowolona ze swojego wyboru.

Kiedy skończyliśmy, a słońce świeciło, zabrałem ją do Parku Sołackiego na małą przejażdżkę wózkiem. Spędziłyśmy tam około 2 godzin, a potem wsiadłyśmy na zakorkowaną drogę do naszego mieszkania.

Empecé el día con flores y un desayuno de bulgar y frutos secos. Luego vimos una película hasta que a primera hora de la tarde fuimos a recoger dos fotos que había enmarcado. La foto de Joan y la de la casa que construí.

Una amiga, Malgorzata, me habló de un nuevo restaurante en el que estuvo la semana pasada y me lo recomendó. Me dijo que la comida que servían estaba elaborada de forma muy diferente y que le había gustado mucho. Pensé que sería un lugar excelente para llevar a Joan a un almuerzo de cumpleaños. Estaba al otro lado de la ciudad, en la zona llamada Jezycze. Conozco bien la zona por nuestra anterior vida en el antiguo apartamento que teníamos. Allí hay un mercado en el que a veces compro pechugas de pato de Moscovia. El nombre del restaurante es Ciuciupaj(Choo choo pie). Por suerte, había una plaza de aparcamiento justo delante de su puerta.

Es un restaurante pequeño, con 8 mesas y que lleva 8 años. El menú era muy variado con muchos alimentos diferentes para probar. Sin embargo, cuando Joan vio la vitrina con tartas y pasteles, decidió que prefería tomar un postre y un café. Era su cumpleaños, así que no insistí. Miró el expositor y eligió una tarta de queso con fresas. Se tomó un café con ella. Estaba muy contenta con su elección.

Cuando ella y yo terminamos y el sol brillaba, la llevé al parque Solacki para dar un pequeño paseo en silla de ruedas por él. Pasamos juntos unas 2 horas allí y luego nos metimos en la carretera atascada de tráfico hasta nuestro piso.

 Where is it? Where is your outrage? 19 children and 2 teachers were murdered by an 18-year-old boy in Texas. The governor of Texas passed 22 laws to make it easier to buy and carry guns. What kind of person does that? Why aren't the streets in America filled today with grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, brothers,s and sisters demanding the gun laws be changed to make it impossible to buy an automatic weapon of any kind.

When the founding fathers wrote it is a right to bear arms, they were talking about a single shot weapon, musket, or handgun. It was in the late 19th century when rifles fully replaced the musket as military weapons. The first order to build 1,000 rifles for the British Army was made in January 1776. They had no idea how weapons would change in the future but here we are today with AK-47's or similar weapons. The AK-47 can fire 600 rounds per minute in a fully automatic setting. These types of weapons are murdering school children every month. WHY?

Because the lobbyist for the National Rifle Association have their money in politicians' pockets and the politicians use it to keep their jobs. This has to change today. Thoughts and prayers sent to those 19 children's parents mean nothing. IT IS BEYOND TIME TO PUT AN END TO THE VIOLENCE. If the anti-abortion law passed by the Unsupreme Court wasn't enough to get you motivated to make a change, how many more children must die? If you have children, will yours be next?

MOPR

I had an agreement with an organization named MOPR. They were to send a cleaning woman twice a week to clean the flat, do shopping, etc., a Ukrainian woman. She came twice 2 weeks ago and hasn't been back. I have no idea why not. i guess I will resume my own cleaning.

Radek was here for our weekly meeting bringing with him some really big donuts like were mad years ago. He said he remembered them from his younger days. 

Around here everything continues to rise in price. There is no relief in sight.

Miałem umowę z  MOPR. Mieli oni dwa razy w tygodniu przysyłać sprzątaczkę z Ukrainy, która miała sprzątać mieszkanie, robić zakupy itp. Ukrainka przyjechała dwa razy 2 tygodnie temu i do tej pory nie wróciła. Nie mam pojęcia, dlaczego. Chyba będę sam sprzątać. 

Radek przyszedł na nasze cotygodniowe spotkanie, przynosząc ze sobą naprawdę duże pączki, takie jak robione były lata temu. Powiedział, że pamięta je z młodości. 

Wokół nas wszystko drożeje. Nie widać polepszenia na horyzoncie.

Tenía un acuerdo con el MOPR. Dos veces por semana debían enviar a una mujer de la limpieza de Ucrania para que limpiara el piso, hiciera la compra, etc. Venía dos veces por semana. La ucraniana vino dos veces hace dos semanas y hasta ahora no ha vuelto. No tengo ni idea de por qué. Creo que voy a hacer la limpieza yo mismo. 

Radek vino a nuestra reunión semanal, trayendo consigo unos donuts muy grandes, de los que se hacían hace años. Dijo que los recordaba de su juventud. 

Todo lo que nos rodea es cada vez más caro. No hay ninguna mejora en el horizonte.

Doctor visit.

 A good weather day was waiting for us and I had to make an appointment to see a doctor just to get a referral for a blood exam. The clinic would not do it over the phone and the only time they had open was 15:30 at our old clinic. We arrived on time and to our surprise, our old neighbor, Marek, was there also. We talked a little and then the doctor called us in. It didn't take long to get the referral but returning home did. it was rush hour and we didn't get home until 17:30(5:30 PM). I wanted to stop and pick up the picture of Joan I had framed 2 weeks ago but the place was already closed. On the door, it said open at 10:00 until------and then nothing.

Bartosz, the PT man, was here to work with Joan and when they were done he said he was happy with the progress she made in Dom Seniora. He will return Wednesday and I will do his exercises when he is not here.

Czekał nas dzień dobrej pogody, a ja musiałam umówić się na wizytę u lekarza, żeby dostać skierowanie na badanie krwi. Przychodnia nie chciała tego zrobić przez telefon, a jedyną wolną godziną była 15:30 w naszej starej przychodni. Przyjechaliśmy na czas i ku naszemu zaskoczeniu był tam również nasz stary sąsiad, Marek. Trochę porozmawialiśmy, a potem lekarz nas wywołał. Otrzymanie skierowania nie trwało długo, ale powrót do domu już tak. Były godziny szczytu i do domu dotarliśmy dopiero o 17:30. Chciałem zatrzymać się i odebrać zdjęcie Joan, które oprawiłem 2 tygodnie temu, ale sklep był już zamknięty. Na drzwiach było napisane, że otwarte od 10:00 do ------, a potem nic. 

Bartosz, fizjoterapeuta był u nas, aby popracować z Joan, a kiedy skończyli, powiedział, że jest zadowolony z postępów, jakie poczyniła w Domu Seniora. Wróci w środę, a ja będę wykonywać jego ćwiczenia, kiedy go nie będzie.

Quiet.

 A somewhat quiet day but cloudy and windy after last night's thunderstorms.

We met with a friend to see her new apartment in the afternoon. Oddly, the first thing I looked at was the stove top to see if it was an induction one. It was and the only reason I looked, I guess, is because we have one in our flat. I like that kind of stove top now better than gas or electric for cooking. it is a nice flay. 57m2 in size with 2 bedrooms and a nice balcony. The building is only 5 years old so it is rather new.

After we were done visiting we drove home and watched the movie, "Love is Strange". It ended at 20:30(8:30 PM) and Joan was ready to go to bed. I don't know why but since she has been back home she goes to bed that early. It is not that she doesn't get enough sleep, she sleeps 11-12 hours each night.

Nieco spokojnieszy dzień, ale pochmurny i wietrzny po wczorajszych burzach. 

Po południu spotkaliśmy się z przyjaciółką, żeby obejrzeć jej nowe mieszkanie. O dziwo, pierwszą rzeczą, na którą zwróciłem uwagę, był blat kuchenki, żeby sprawdzić, czy jest indukcyjna. Okazało się, że tak, a jedynym powodem, dla którego spojrzałem, był fakt, że mamy taką w naszym mieszkaniu. Lubię ten rodzaj kuchenki do gotowania bardziej niż gazową czy elektryczną. Mieszkanie ma 57 m2 powierzchni, 2 sypialnie i ładny balkon. Budynek ma tylko 5 lat, więc jest raczej nowy. 

Po zakończeniu wizyty pojechaliśmy do domu i obejrzeliśmy film "Miłość jest dziwna". Skończył się o 20:30 (20:30) i Joan była gotowa iść spać. Nie wiem dlaczego, ale odkąd wróciła do domu, kładzie się spać tak wcześnie. Nie chodzi o to, że nie ma wystarczająco dużo snu, każdej nocy śpi 11-12 godzin.

Un día algo tranquilo pero nublado y con viento después de las tormentas de anoche.

Quedamos con una amiga para ver su nuevo apartamento por la tarde. Curiosamente, lo primero que miré fue la placa de la cocina para ver si era de inducción. Lo era y la única razón por la que miré, supongo, es porque tenemos una en nuestro piso. Ahora me gusta más ese tipo de cocina que la de gas o la eléctrica para cocinar. 57m2 de tamaño con 2 dormitorios y un bonito balcón. El edificio sólo tiene 5 años, así que es bastante nuevo.

Cuando terminamos la visita nos fuimos a casa y vimos la película "Love is Strange". Terminó a las 20:30 (8:30 PM) y Joan estaba lista para irse a la cama. No sé por qué, pero desde que volvió a casa se acuesta tan temprano. No es que no duerma lo suficiente, duerme entre 11 y 12 horas cada noche.

Shopping day

Yes, it was and the total cost was 166 PLN($37). It would have been just 140 PLN but I also needed paper towels, dish soap, and facial tissues for the month ahead. 

Gas prices continue to go up, 7.35 is the new price since 2 days ago.  3 months ago I was paying 150 PLN to fill the tank, now it is 220 PLN. The biggest provider of gas in Poland is Orlen. They posted record profits for the first quarter of 2022. Even when the cost of oil goes d.own, they STILL keep going up. It is out of control!

Combining food, gas, and inflation, life in Poland is getting harder to sustain for many people and businesses. The future is not looking so bright in Poland.

LONDON, May 20 (Reuters) - In a sign of Russia's urgent need to bolster its war effort in Ukraine, parliament said on Friday it would consider a bill to allow Russians over 40 and foreigners over 30 to sign up for the military.

The website of the State Duma, parliament's lower house, said the move would enable the military to utilize the skills of older professionals.

"For the use of high-precision weapons, the operation of weapons and military equipment, highly professional specialists are needed. Experience shows that they become such by the age of 40–45," it said.

Tak, tak, całkowity koszt zakupow wyniósł 166 zł (37 dolarów). Byłoby to tylko 140 zł, ale potrzebowałem jeszcze ręczników papierowych, płynu do mycia naczyń i chusteczek do twarzy na nadchodzący miesiąc. 

Ceny gazu wciąż rosną, nowa cena od od 2 dni to 7,35.  3 miesiące temu za tankowanie płaciłem 150 zł, teraz jest to już 220 zł. Największym dostawcą gazu w Polsce jest Orlen. W pierwszym kwartale 2022 r. odnotowali rekordowe zyski. Nawet gdy cena ropy spada, ich ceny ciągle idą w górę. To wymyka się spod kontroli! 

Łącząc ceny żywności, paliwa i inflację, życie w Polsce staje się coraz trudniejsze dla wielu ludzi i firm. Przyszłość Polski nie rysuje się w jasnych barwach. 

LONDYN, 20 maja (Reuters) - Na znak pilnej potrzeby wzmocnienia działań wojennych Rosji na Ukrainie, parlament zapowiedział w piątek, że rozpatrzy projekt ustawy zezwalającej Rosjanom powyżej 40. roku życia i obcokrajowcom powyżej 30. roku życia na zapisywanie się do wojska. 

Na stronie internetowej Dumy Państwowej, niższej izby parlamentu, napisano, że takie posunięcie umożliwiłoby wojsku wykorzystanie umiejętności starszych specjalistów.

On the road.

Yesterday, I thought I could make a video of the road to Dom Seniora after I turned off route #92. It's about a 15-minute drive but very peaceful. After looking at it, it looks like I am driving 150 miles an hour, too fast. Even on the much slower road after the village of Gronsko, it still looks too fast to focus. It is on the right side of the blog.

Today the cleaning lady did not appear as scheduled/ I will have to call and find out what happened.

Radek was here and told us about his trip to Porto, Portugal. It sounds like a nice place to visit except he said there are a lot of ups and downs on the streets so it would be difficult for us and Joan's wheelchair. He said the prices are cheaper than in Spain but almost no one speaks Spanish, only Portuguese. I'm not going to try and learn another language.

Wczoraj pomyślałem, że mógłbym nakręcić filmik z drogi do Domu Seniora po tym, jak skręciłem z trasy #92. To około 15 minut jazdy, ale bardzo spokojnej. Po obejrzeniu filmu wygląda to tak, jakbym jechał 150 mil na godzinę, czyli za szybko. Nawet na znacznie wolniejszej drodze za miejscowością Gronsko, nadal wygląda to zbyt szybko, by się skupić. Znajduje się po prawej stronie bloga.

Dzisiaj sprzątaczka nie pojawiła się zgodnie z planem/ będę musiała zadzwonić i dowiedzieć się, co się stało.

Radek był tutaj i opowiedział nam o swojej podróży do Porto w Portugalii. Brzmi to jak fajne miejsce do odwiedzenia, ale powiedział, że na ulicach jest dużo podjazdów i zjazdów, więc byłoby to trudne dla nas i wózka Joanny. Powiedział, że ceny są tańsze niż w Hiszpanii, ale prawie nikt nie mówi po hiszpańsku, tylko po portugalsku. Nie zamierzam próbować uczyć się innego języka.

Ayer se me ocurrió hacer un video del camino a Dom Seniora después de desviarme de la ruta #92. Es un viaje de unos 15 minutos pero muy tranquilo. Después de verlo, parece que estoy conduciendo a 240 kilómetros por hora, demasiado rápido. Incluso en la carretera, mucho más lenta, después del pueblo de Gronsko, sigue pareciendo demasiado rápido. Está en el lado derecho del blog.

Hoy la señora de la limpieza no ha aparecido como estaba previsto/ Tendré que llamar para saber qué ha pasado.

Radek estuvo aquí y nos habló de su viaje a Oporto, Portugal. Suena como un buen lugar para visitar, excepto que dijo que hay un montón de subidas y bajadas en las calles por lo que sería difícil para nosotros y la silla de ruedas de Joan. Dijo que los precios son más baratos que en España pero que casi nadie habla español, sólo portugués. No voy a intentar aprender otro idioma.

Home at last!

I picked Joan up at 10:00 and we drove back home a different way, through the town of Szamoutuly. It was much nicer than the busier #92 route. The sun was shining and the sky was blue. It was a more leisurely way home. She was very happy to be free at last, like in the speech of Martin Luther King.

At home, while she was watching a movie, I unpacked her suitcase and found 2 blouses that were not hers. However, she was missing 2 pairs of pants so I think we were even. It was such a beautiful day that when I was done with my wifely things, I helped her back into the car and we spent the rest of the afternoon at Park Citadella.

O 10:00 odebrałem Joan i pojechaliśmy do domu inną drogą, przez miasto Szamoutuly. Było o wiele przyjemniej niż na bardziej ruchliwej trasie 92. Świeciło słońce, a niebo było błękitne. Droga do domu była bardziej spokojna. Joan była bardzo szczęśliwa, że wreszcie jest wolna, tak jak w przemówieniu Martina Luthera Kinga. 

W domu, gdy Ona oglądała film, ja rozpakowałem jej walizkę i znalazłem dwie bluzki, które nie należały do niej. Brakowało  jednak dwóch par jej spodni, więc myślę, że byliśmy kwita. Był tak piękny dzień, że kiedy skończyłem załatwiać sprawy związane z powrotem do domu , pomogłem jej wsiąść do samochodu i resztę popołudnia spędziliśmy w Parku Cytadela.

Recogí a Joan a las 10:00 y volvimos a casa por un camino diferente, a través de la ciudad de Szamoutuly. Era mucho más agradable que la ruta #92, más concurrida. El sol brillaba y el cielo estaba azul. El camino a casa era más tranquilo. Estaba muy contenta de ser libre por fin, como en el discurso de Martin Luther King.

En casa, mientras ella veía una película, deshice su maleta y encontré 2 blusas que no eran suyas. Sin embargo, a ella le faltaban 2 pares de pantalones, así que creo que estábamos en paz. Era un día tan bonito que cuando terminé con mis cosas de esposa, la ayudé a subir al coche y pasamos el resto de la tarde en el Parque Citadella.

Yesterday, later in the day I made a visit to the botanical gardens of Poznań. It was the first time in 15 years I was there without my fantastic wife. It was a strange feeling walking through the gardens without her. We take so much for granted in life. You don't know what you have until you lose it. I haven't lost her but the last three weeks have made me realize again what my life would be like without her. Yes. I have enjoyed the time not having to worry much about her but it was a lonely time for me. Garden pictures on the right side of this blog.

The GREAT NEWS is that today my final eye exam was without anything major being wrong and I was told I can bring her home tomorrow and resume caring for her. Almost everything is in place in my eyes except for the right eye. The lens put in has not completely covered the cornea and so I see a little bit of double vision in it. I am now taking steroid droplets for the next 3 weeks that will make the pressure in that eye a little higher to make the lens lay flat like it should have. I am confident it will work. In 3-4 weeks my oculist friend will check my eyes and give me a prescription for glasses to read, maybe also for driving. All in all, I am happy with the results of the operation.

Wczoraj, w dalszej części dnia, odwiedziłem ogrody botaniczne w Poznaniu. Po raz pierwszy od 15 lat byłem tam bez mojej fantastycznej żony. To było dziwne uczucie chodzić po ogrodach bez niej. Tak wiele rzeczy w życiu uznajemy za oczywiste. Nie wiesz, co masz, dopóki tego nie stracisz. Nie straciłem jej, ale ostatnie trzy tygodnie uświadomiły mi, jak wyglądałoby moje życie bez niej. Tak. Cieszyłem się czasem, kiedy nie musiałem się o nią martwić, ale był to dla mnie samotny okres. Zdjęcia ogrodu po prawej stronie tego bloga.

Wspaniała wiadomość jest taka, że dzisiaj moje ostatnie badanie oczu nie wykazało żadnych poważnych problemów i powiedziano mi, że jutro mogę zabrać ją do domu i wznowić opiekę nad nią. W moich oczach prawie wszystko jest na swoim miejscu, z wyjątkiem prawego oka. Włożona soczewka nie zakryła całkowicie rogówki i dlatego widzę w nim trochę podwójnie. Ayer, a última hora del día, hice una visita a los jardines botánicos de Poznań. Era la primera vez en 15 años que estaba allí sin mi fantástica esposa. La GRAN NOTICIA es que hoy mi examen final de la vista fue sin que nada importante estuviera mal y me dijeron que puedo traerla a casa mañana y reanudar su cuidado. Casi todo está en su sitio en mis ojos excepto el ojo derecho. La lente que me pusieron no ha cubierto completamente la córnea y por eso veo un poco de visión doble en él. Ahora estoy tomando gotas de esteroides durante las próximas 3 semanas que harán que la presión en ese ojo sea un poco más alta para que la lente quede plana como debería. Estoy seguro de que funcionará. En 3-4 semanas mi amigo oculista me revisará los ojos y me recetará unas gafas para leer, quizás también para conducir. En general, estoy contento con los resultados de la operación.

I had Joan home for the weekend.To my great surprise, she was able to make short steps from one room to another and her balance seemed better. Tried playing a game of Scrabble but Joan just couldn't make a word, even a 3 letter word. In the afternoon I took her ciasto and coffee. She had her weekly conversation with her daughter at 5 PM while I made dinner. At 6:30 PM it was time to take her back to Dom Seniora/

Ku mojemu wielkiemu zaskoczeniu, była w stanie zrobić krótkie kroki z jednego pokoju do drugiego, a jej równowaga wydawała się lepsza. Najwyraźniej terapia w Domu Seniora przynosi jej korzyści. Para mi gran sorpresa, ella era capaz de dar pasos cortos de una habitación a otra y su equilibrio parecía mejor. Evidentemente, la fisioterapia que ha recibido en Dom Seniora es beneficiosa para ella. Me sentí aliviado al comprobarlo. Good days.

Yesterday was good. I found a picture framing shop on Tajczaka street that is now framing Joan's picture and the picture of the house I built. I was at the old place where I had others done before but now they are out of business, a victim of Covid-19and the economy. It was very close to the office of a lawyer friend I have so I called him and asked if he had time for a coffee. He did and so we met in the cafe just below his office. We sat in the garden and talked for 1/2 hour.

I was also close to two other friends' house, Marcin & Dorota. I called and asked if I could visit. Dorota said Marcin was at the office but I could stop by and see her. We spent an hour talking about Joan, her kids, Dorota's kids, my health, the war, the Ukrainian family living with them now, her husband, and the difficult last year. It was good to see her. Marcin and Dorota have done a lot to help us through this difficult time we have now. They are the definition of the word "friend". I am grateful to have met them years ago.

Today, I picked up Joan at 9:00 from Dom Seniora. To start the day I stopped at the restaurant near the BP station for breakfast. We haven't been out for breakfast for over 2 years. Joan had scrambled eggs with toast and coffee. I had an omelet with cheese and coffee. We were home by 11:00,  I made some tea, and she watched "Grace and Frankie", while I prepared dinner for tonight. I gave her a choice of roasted salmon, potatoes, and green beans or a fruit salad of apples, bananas, pears, oranges, strawberries, and plums/ She chose the fruit salad.

After lunch, I took her to see the display for Ukraine in front of the Opera house. Unfortunately, it has been over a week since it was made and the flowers had turned brown already. We returned home where she will stay until tomorrow night.

Wczoraj był dobry dzień. Znalazłem sklep z ramami do obrazów na ulicy Tajczaka, który oprawia teraz zdjęcie Joan i zdjęcie domu, który zbudowałem. Byłem w starym miejscu, gdzie wcześniej oprawiano inne zdjęcia, ale teraz nie prowadzą już działalności, padli ofiarą Covid-19 i gospodarki. Spędziliśmy godzinę na rozmowie o Joann, jej dzieciach, dzieciach Doroty, moim zdrowiu, wojnie, ukraińskiej rodzinie mieszkającej teraz z nimi, jej mężu i trudnym ostatnim roku. Dobrze było ją zobaczyć. Marcin i Dorota zrobili wiele, by pomóc nam w tym trudnym czasie, który teraz przeżywamy. Są definicją słowa "przyjaciel". Jestem wdzięczny, że mogłem ich poznać wiele lat temu.

Dziś o 9:00 odebrałem Joannę z Domu Seniora. Na początek dnia zatrzymałem się na śniadanie w restauracji przy stacji BP. Nie byliśmy na śniadaniu od ponad dwóch lat. Joanna zjadła jajecznicę z tostami i kawą. Ja zjadłem omlet z serem i kawą. W domu byłyśmy przed 11:00, zrobiłam herbatę, a ona oglądała "Grace i Frankie", podczas gdy ja przygotowywałam kolację na dzisiejszy wieczór. Dałem jej do wyboru: pieczonego łososia, ziemniaki i zieloną fasolkę albo sałatkę owocową z jabłek, bananów, gruszek, pomarańczy, truskawek i śliwek.

Po obiedzie zabrałem ją na wystawę ukraińską przed gmachem Opery. Niestety, minął już ponad tydzień od jej wykonania i kwiaty zdążyły już zbrązowieć. Wróciliśmy do domu, gdzie zostanie do jutra wieczór.
