A friend.

Last night, thanks to FB video chat, I talked with an old friend of 45 years, Randy Budrik. I don't remember exactly how we met but he, Joan and I have been friends a long time. We have sporadically kept in touch since Joan and I moved to Poland almost 15 years ago. Randy and I both worked repairing furniture sold by the Wicks company. The furniture wasn't that good so we always had a lot of work. In fact, he was the one who taught me how to do furniture repairs.

Friends come and go but it is something special when you have one for so many years. As a trio, we enjoyed many good times together, and talking and seeing him last night was the highlight of my day. Like me, he built his own house manually and we have that in common among other things. We met in our early 30s and now we are in our 70s. That's a long time to maintain a friendship. I'm very happy about that.

Oleksiy Arestovych, an aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said Ukrainian troops had found the bodies of women who had been raped and set alight as well as the bodies of local officials and children.

Bucha's mayor said 300 residents had been killed during a month-long occupation by the Russian army".  

Ukraine needs fighter jets to combat the destruction. Anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles are not enough. Only if Ukraine controls the air over its country will it stop. How much longer?

How much longer will the West continue to let Russia destroy Ukraine? Military and humanitarian aid is not enough.

Wczoraj wieczorem, dzięki wideo czatowi na FB, rozmawiałem ze starym przyjacielem z 45-letnim stażem, Randym Budrikiem. Nie pamiętam dokładnie, jak się poznaliśmy, ale on, Joan i ja przyjaźnimy się od dawna. Sporadycznie utrzymywaliśmy kontakt, odkąd razem z Joan przeprowadziliśmy się do Polski prawie 15 lat temu. Obaj z Randym pracowaliśmy przy naprawie mebli sprzedawanych przez firmę Wicks. Te meble  nie były zbyt dobre, więc zawsze mieliśmy dużo pracy. To właśnie on nauczył mnie, jak je naprawiać. 

Przyjaciele przychodzą i odchodzą, ale gdy ma się jednego przez tyle lat, to jest to coś wyjątkowego. Jako trio spędziliśmy razem wiele miłych chwil, a rozmowa i spotkanie z nim wczoraj wieczorem były dla mnie najważniejszym wydarzeniem dnia. Podobnie jak ja, własnoręcznie zbudował swój dom i między innymi to nas łączy. Poznaliśmy się po trzydziestce, a teraz mamy po siedemdziesiątce. To bardzo dużo czasu, aby utrzymać przyjaźń. Jestem z tego powodu bardzo szczęśliwy. 

Teraz cos z ciemnej strony..... 

"W sobotę, reporterzy Reuters widzieli ciała w masowym grobie i leżące na ulicach, a w niedzielę mer Bucza Anatolij Fedoruk pokazał dziennikarzom dwa ciała z białą szmatą zawiązaną wokół ramion, z których jedno wyglądało na postrzelone w usta. 

Ołeksij Arestowycz, doradca prezydenta Ukrainy Wołodymyra Zelenskiego, powiedział, że ukraińskie wojsko znalazło ciała zgwałconych i podpalonych kobiet, a także ciała lokalnych urzędników i dzieci. 

Burmistrz Bucza powiedział, że 300 mieszkańców zostało zabitych podczas trwającej miesiąc okupacji przez wojska rosyjskie".  

Ukraina potrzebuje myśliwców, by sprzeciwić się zagładzie. Pociski przeciwpancerne i przeciwlotnicze nie wystarczą. Tylko wtedy, gdy Ukraina będzie kontrolowała niebo nad swoim krajem, to zatrzyma agresję. 

Jak długo jeszcze Zachód będzie pozwalał Rosji niszczyć Ukrainę? Pomoc wojskowa i humanitarna nie wystarczy.

Anoche, gracias al videochat de FB, hablé con un viejo amigo de 45 años, Randy Budrik. No recuerdo exactamente cómo nos conocimos, pero él, Joan y yo somos amigos desde hace mucho tiempo. Hemos mantenido el contacto de forma esporádica desde que Joan y yo nos mudamos a Polonia hace casi 15 años. Randy y yo trabajábamos reparando muebles vendidos por la empresa Wicks. Los muebles no eran tan buenos, así que siempre teníamos mucho trabajo. De hecho, él fue quien me enseñó a hacer reparaciones de muebles.

Los amigos van y vienen, pero es algo especial cuando tienes uno durante tantos años. Como trío, disfrutamos de muchos buenos momentos juntos, y hablar y verle anoche fue lo mejor de mi día. Al igual que yo, construyó su propia casa manualmente y tenemos eso en común entre otras cosas. Nos conocimos a principios de los 30 y ahora tenemos 70 años. Es mucho tiempo para mantener una amistad. Estoy muy contento por ello.
