Another one.

I read the sad news yesterday that another one of the famous singer/songwriters had passed away. The official statement to the press read, "It is with profound sadness that we confirm Gordon Meredith Lightfoot passed away on Monday, May 1st, 2023 at 7:30 pm at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Canada. He died of natural causes at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife, Kim Hasse, six children-Fred, Ingrid, Eric, Galen, Miles and Meridith--as well as several grandchildren".

He was a Canadian singer-songwriter and guitarist who achieved international success in folk, folk-rock, and country music He is credited with helping to define the folk-pop sound of the 1960s and 1970s. He has been referred to as Canada's greatest songwriter and his songs have been recorded by some of the world's most renowned musical artists. Lightfoot's biographer Nicholas Jennings said, "His name is synonymous with timeless songs about trains and shipwrecks, rivers and highways, lovers and loneliness."

He topped the US Hot 100 chart with the hits "If You Could Read My Mind"(1970), Sundown"(1974),  "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"(1976), and many other hits that appeared in the top 40.

I went today to see the artwork of Cousin Bozenka at the Mad Art Gallery. It is aptly named Mad. I was mad. I couldn't find the gallery in a four-story building. Past the entrance was a board with Mad Galeria Stuki in yellow. However, it didn't say what floor or room. So, I walked up the long flights of stairs to each floor and found the offices of a lot of different lawyers.

The only bright spot was when I gave up and went down all of the stairs. To the right was the exit door but to the left was a double door leading to a courtyard. Out of curiosity, I passed through the door and found a very pleasant, secluded courtyard with a kawiarnia and a large statue of Adam Mickiewicz. It was 1 pm and there was no one sitting at the tables. I like the place because if you don't know it is there, you wouldn't go to it. In other words, no tourists.

Kanada. Zmarł z przyczyn naturalnych w wieku 84 lat. Przeżyła go żona, Kim Hasse, sześcioro dzieci-Fred, Ingrid, Eric, Galen, Miles i Meridith, a także kilkoro wnuków".

Biograf Lightfoota Nicholas Jennings powiedział: "Jego nazwisko jest synonimem ponadczasowych piosenek o pociągach i wrakach statków, rzekach i autostradach, kochankach i samotności."

Znalazł się na szczycie amerykańskiej listy przebojów Hot 100 z hitami "If You Could Read My Mind"(1970), Sundown"(1974), "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"(1976) i wieloma innymi, które pojawiły się w pierwszej czterdziestce.
