Independents and non-voters.
Please don't allow this to continue!
Like you, I have reasons not to vote for a Repub. or a Democrat, but we have a crisis, or chaos, in our country. We can't let it continue. I voted for the Democrat in every category. I hope you will too.
We should have at least one more party in the next Presidential election. This idea of having only one of two choices is outdated.
A two-party system offers stability and clear governance, but it presents several significant structural and political deficiencies:
We are often forced to choose between two broad platforms that may not align with our actual beliefs. This can lead to "lesser-of-two-evils" voting, where people vote against a candidate they dislike rather than for a candidate they support. Only once, in my 82 years, did I not feel that way: 1960-JFK
Politics becomes a zero-sum game: for one party to win, the other must lose. This incentivizes obstructionism, constant partisan conflict, and legislative gridlock over compromise and problem-solving.
Different ideological perspectives, like libertarianism, green/environmental politics, or democratic socialism, are suppressed or co-opted, leaving significant portions of citizens feeling unrepresented.
Major policy shifts can occur rapidly depending on which party holds power, creating instability for long-term planning in economic, environmental, and foreign affairs. We have the best example of this right now.
Suppression of third parties, like ballot access rules, winner-take-all voting rules, excluded debate stages, and limited funding, makes it nearly impossible for new political movements to achieve mainstream viability.
If the current administration has its way, the midterms may be the last election....EVER! VOTE!!
