What a beautiful day. 75°, clear blue sky. An excellent day to take Joan out and go to a different park rather than our usual Solacki Park. So, we went to Wilson Park. It's located just south of the main center of town. We have been there before. The Palmeria is located there, as well as an outdoor cafe.
The Palmeria(Palm House) was built in 1929, according to the S project. Cybichowski, and in the years 1982–92 completely rebuilt. The palm house has a rich collection of plants and is one of the largest such facilities in Europe. About 17 thousand plants of seven hundred species and varieties from countries with Mediterranean, subtropical, tropical, savanna, and desert climates were collected here. There is also a rich collection of exotic fish. The Palm House is closed now for renovations, shut down now for several years.
Wilson Park has something special about it. It’s one of those places in Poznań where you can slow down for a moment, take a stroll, sit on a bench, and just enjoy being surrounded by greenery. There’s a bit of history here, a bit of the city’s hustle and bustle, but above all, there’s a vibe and atmosphere that are hard to find anywhere else. We have been there several times before.
