Zbyszek came over for a visit and to see how Joan was doing. We shared some pastries. coffee, talked about the tragic death in Gdańsk. He said it was rather strange that the Minister of Justice ordered police not to be present at the event. He stayed for about an hour and then I went to the pharmacy to give the prescriptions for Joan's medications to take to Spain. I will get mine on Friday. I have to make sure we have enough for the whole time we are there.
It's getting close to departure time so I have to set up automatic bank transfers for heating, eater and electricity on our flat here. I can only estimate what the costs will be as the bills come in the mail and our neighbor will be collecting our mail while we our gone. I did it like that last year and it worked out well.
I think my only problem will be getting Joan on and off the airplane. With her trouble now climbing stairs it will be difficult, plus walking down the aisle to our seats.

I'm not sure how airlines overseas handle disabilities but wheelchair service is wonderful (where they use the airport wheelchairs and have airport personnel transport via the wheelchair all through security and going to the gate. They take elevators where necessary to avoid stairs. They also transport down the ramp to the door of the airplane. The same goes for the arrival portion (waiting outside the door of the airplane and transporting to baggage claim, etc.)
Stateside pre-boarding is also life saver for those needing additional time (typically even before first class passengers are allowed on).
You need to set up the wheelchair service ahead of time (with the airplane company you're flying with) for all times you need it (departure and arrival). Stateside there isn't a fee for this .... I just tip the person who actually handles the transporting.
It might be worth checking out... to alleviate the logistical issues.
Another consideration... and I don't know if Joan tires easily... and might not be up to all the walking... but a foldable transport wheelchair might be worth looking into (without those huge wheels that the disabled person uses to propel themselves... but with just the handles in the back to transport the person). Overseas might not be as handicapped friendly so it might not work out for cobblestone streets, taking on buses, etc. But a thought.
Have a wonderful time on your vacation.
