Long day

It was. We started at 10:00 to meet Karolina at the tax office. At 10:05 I called her only to find out she forgot about it. We waited another 25 minutes until she could arrive.

Inside the office, we talked with the same woman who filled out the form last week and showed her the notice from the tax office that there were several places left empty that should have amounts in them. She said she didn't know why it was like that and would not admit it was her fault. We didn't press the issue. She penciled in the missing information and gave us a new form to fill out again. We checked it against the notice and still found 3 places empty that were supposed to be filled in. Again we returned to the clerk, pointed out the omissions and she filled them in. When we were done, we returned it and she stamped it again. Hopefully, the money will be returned to us which is the overpayment.

Because of the late arrival, I had to call Bartosz and rescheduled the time he would come to work with Joan. His schedule is very full and it wasn't easy to reschedule but we did.

From there, we had to go to our old Apteka to submit the prescriptions for the next three months of meds and the new yearly prescription for diapers. There was another new pharmacist behind the counter but I think she understood what we needed. Naturally, they didn't have everything in stock so I will pick everything up this coming Saturday after I meet with Joanna.

Next, was the search for vacuum cleaner bags for our Hoover. I tried MediaMart, Media Expert, and AGD but none had them. MediMart had 1 box that might work so I bought them but kept the receipt. Back at home, I tried to put one in but it doesn't fit so I now will have to return my purchase.

I did find them online but are not available to buy online, only in the store. It was a MediaMart near Warsaw so I don't think that will work either. I'm not driving to Warsaw just to buy10 bags.

After that search, we had to go to the Peska shopping center to try to find some new tank tops for Joan. I don't know why but all of a sudden she only has one and with hot weather on the way, she will need to change them. We found one that fit and a small men's size also worked. She also needed short sports socks so we bought them.

Finally, after all of that, being close to Plac Wolnosci, we stopped for a coffee and went into Empik to try to find white chalk for making marks in the parking lot to helo Joan walk. It was impossible to buy. We tried three other places but had no success. At 18:00(6 PM) we returned home and I wrote this blog.

yło tak. Zaczęliśmy o 10:00, aby spotkać się z Karoliną w urzędzie skarbowym. O 10:05 zadzwoniłem do niej i okazało się, że zapomniała o tym. Czekaliśmy kolejne 25 minut, aż będzie mogła przyjechać. 

W urzędzie rozmawialiśmy z tą samą kobietą, która wypełniała formularz w zeszłym tygodniu i pokazaliśmy jej zawiadomienie z urzędu skarbowego, że kilka miejsc pozostało pustych, w których powinny znajdować się kwoty. Powiedziała, że nie wie dlaczego tak się stało i nie przyznała się, że to jej wina. Nie naciskaliśmy na tę kwestię. Dopisała ołówkiem brakujące informacje i dała nam nowy formularz do ponownego wypełnienia. Sprawdziliśmy go z zawiadomieniem i nadal znaleźliśmy 3 puste miejsca, które miały być wypełnione. Ponownie wróciliśmy do urzędniczki, wskazaliśmy braki, a ona je uzupełniła. Gdy skończyliśmy, zwróciliśmy go, a ona ponownie podstemplowała. Mam nadzieję, że zostaną nam zwrócone pieniądze, które stanowią nadpłatę. 

Z powodu spóźnienia musiałem zadzwonić do Bartosza i przełożyć godzinę, na którą miałby przyjść do pracy z Joan. Jego grafik jest bardzo zapełniony i nie było łatwo przełożyć termin, ale udało się. 

Stamtąd musieliśmy udać się do naszej starej apteki, aby złożyć recepty na kolejne trzy miesiące leków i nową roczną receptę na pieluchy. Za ladą była inna nowa farmaceutka,  ale myślę , że ona zrozumiała, co potrzebowaliśmy. Oczywiście nie mieli wszystkiego na stanie, więc odbiorę wszystko w najbliższą sobotę po spotkaniu z Joan. 

Kolejnym etapem było poszukiwanie worków do odkurzacza. Próbowałem w MediaMarkt, Media Expert i AGD, ale żaden ich nie miał. MediaMarkt miał 1 zestaw, który mógłby pasować, więc kupiłem, ale zachowałem paragon. W domu próbowałem umieścić jeden worrk w odkurzaczu, ale nie pasuje więc teraz będę musiał zwrócić mój zakup. 

Znalazłem worki w Internecie, ale nie są dostępne do kupienia online, tylko w sklepie. Był to MediaMarkt pod Warszawą więc chyba też nie będzie sposobu, by je ściągnąć. Nie będę przecież jeździć do Warszawy tylko po to, żeby kupić10 torebek. 

Po tych poszukiwaniach musieliśmy pojechać do centrum handlowego Peska, aby spróbować znaleźć jakieś nowe podkoszulki dla Joan. Nie wiem dlaczego, ale nagle ma tylko jeden, a przy nadchodzących upałach będzie musiała je zmieniać. Znaleźliśmy jeden, który pasował i 1 mały męski rozmiar, ktory również również się nadawał. Potrzebowała też krótkich sportowych skarpetek, więc je kupiliśmy. 

Wreszcie, po tym wszystkim, będąc blisko Placu Wolności, zatrzymaliśmy się na kawę i weszliśmy do Empiku, aby spróbować znaleźć białą kredę do robienia znaków na parkingu, aby pomóc Joan chodzić. Nie udało się ich kupić. Próbowaliśmy jeszcze w trzech innych miejscach, ale bez powodzenia. O 18:00(6 PM) wróciliśmy do domu i wtedy napisałem tego bloga.

Fue así. Empezamos a las 10:00 para encontrarnos con Karolina en la oficina de impuestos. A las 10:05 la llamé y resultó que se había olvidado. Esperamos otros 25 minutos hasta que pudo llegar. 

En la oficina, hablamos con la misma mujer que había rellenado el formulario la semana pasada y le mostramos el aviso de la Agencia Tributaria de que se habían dejado varios espacios en blanco donde deberían haber estado las cantidades. Dijo que no sabía por qué había sucedido y no admitió que fuera culpa suya. No insistimos en la cuestión. Añadió la información que faltaba a lápiz y nos dio un nuevo formulario para rellenar de nuevo. Lo cotejamos con el anuncio y aún así encontramos 3 espacios en blanco que debían ser rellenados. Volvimos a ver a la empleada, le señalamos las lagunas y las rellenó. Cuando terminamos, lo devolvimos y lo volvió a sellar. Espero que nos devuelvan el dinero, que es un pago excesivo. 

Debido a la tardanza, tuve que llamar a Bartosz y reprogramar la hora en que vendría a trabajar con Joan. Su agenda está muy llena y no fue fácil reprogramar, pero lo conseguimos. 

A partir de ahí, tuvimos que ir a nuestra antigua farmacia para presentar las recetas de otros tres meses de medicación y una nueva receta anual de pañales. Había otra farmacéutica nueva detrás del mostrador, pero creo que entendió lo que necesitábamos. Obviamente no tenían todo en stock, así que recogeré todo el próximo sábado después de mi cita con Joan. 

La siguiente etapa fue buscar bolsas para aspiradoras. Probé con MediaMarkt, Media Expert y AGD, pero ninguno los tenía. En MediaMarkt había un juego que podría encajar, así que lo compré pero me quedé con el recibo. En casa he intentado meter una bolsa en el aspirador pero no cabe, así que ahora tendré que devolver la compra. 

Encontré los bolsos en Internet, pero no están disponibles para comprar en línea, sólo en tienda. Era un MediaMarkt cerca de Varsovia, así que supongo que tampoco habrá forma de descargarlos. Después de todo, no voy a viajar a Varsovia sólo para comprar 10 bolsas. 

Después de esta búsqueda tuvimos que ir al centro comercial Peska para tratar de encontrar algunas camisetas nuevas para Joan. No sé por qué, pero de repente sólo tiene una, y con el celo que viene tendrá que cambiarlas. Encontramos uno que se ajustaba y 1 talla pequeña de hombre que también se ajustaba. También necesitaba calcetines deportivos cortos, así que los compramos. 

Finalmente, después de todo esto, al estar cerca de la Plaza de la Libertad, nos detuvimos a tomar un café y entramos en el Empik para tratar de encontrar tiza blanca para hacer señales en el aparcamiento para ayudar a Joan a caminar. No era posible comprarlos. Probamos en otros tres sitios pero sin éxito. A las 6 de la tarde (6 PM) llegamos a casa y fue cuando escribí este blog.

Tomorrow Karolina will meet us at the tax office at 10:00 to rectify the mistakes they made when filling out our tax form. It couldn't be done over the phone.

I met with Radek for our weekly meeting and the first hour in English was mainly about political situations in Poland and the U.S. The second hour was in Spanish and we are just repeating some lessons from last year to refresh and make sure we remember them. 

Joan was home with Ada watching 2 movies until I returned.

Przypominam. NIE będę zamieszczał komentarzy od żadnego Anonima, od osoby, która nie umieści na końcu komentarza jakiegoś nazwiska. 

Jutro Karolina spotka się z nami w urzędzie skarbowym o 10:00, aby sprostować błędy, które popełnili przy wypełnianiu naszego formularza podatkowego. Nie dało się tego zrobić przez telefon. 

Spotkałam się z Radkiem na naszym cotygodniowym spotkaniu i pierwsza godzina po angielsku dotyczyła głównie sytuacji politycznej w Polsce i USA. Druga godzina była po hiszpańsku i właśnie powtarzamy niektóre lekcje z zeszłego roku, aby odświeżyć i upewnić się, że je pamiętamy. 

Joan była w domu z Adą oglądając z nią 2 filmy aż do mojego powrotu.

Finally!

After 3 no-shows. a cleaning lady finally came today. She was very nice and in 3 hours cleaned the whole flat. She will return next Monday and gave me a short list of products to buy for cleaning. Anna arrived at 10:30 and by 13:30(1:30) she was done. She spoke no English but my poor Polish was enough to communicate with her. It is nice to have the extra burden of house cleaning off of my back. I admit it is the last thing on my list of things I must do.

The weather was a little warm today, 34C(88F) so not a good day to be outside and I have to admit I fell asleep in the afternoon. The "nap" was longer than I wanted but fortunately, there was enough dinner leftover from last night that I didn't have to scramble to make dinner. It was blue cheese, walnut, and pasta cold salad again.

The news from Ukraine was not so good. It appears Putin and his gang of thugs have now taken the Donbas region away from Ukraine despite a valiant effort by the Ukrainian army. Much of the blame is on Putin but the West also should be ashamed they let it happen. As usual, treaties and agreements between countries mean nothing. They are never honored.

W końcu, po 3 nieobecnościach, dzisiaj przyszła pani, aby posprzątać. Była bardzo miła i w 3 godziny posprzątała całe mieszkanie. Wróci w następny poniedziałek i dała mi krótką listę produktów do kupienia do sprzątania. Anna przyjechała o 10:30 i do 13:30(1:30) wszystko miała posprzątane. Nie mówiła po angielsku, ale mój słaby polski wystarczył, żeby się z nią porozumieć. Miło jest mieć dodatkowy ciężar sprzątania domu zdjęty z moich barków. Przyznaję, że jest to ostatnia rzecz na mojej liście rzeczy, które muszę zrobić. 

Dzisiaj było zbyt gorąco 34C(88F) więc nie był to dobry dzień na przebywanie na zewnątrz i muszę przyznać, że po południu zasnąłem. Drzemka" była dłuższa niż chciałem, ale na szczęście było wystarczająco dużo resztek z poprzedniego wieczoru tak, że nie musiałem się szamotać, żeby zrobić obiad. Ponownie był ser niebieski, orzechy włoskie i makaron - na zimno. 

Wiadomości z Ukrainy nie są zbyt dobre. Wydaje się, że Putin i jego banda zbirów zajęli teraz region Donbasu na wschodzie Ukrainy, pomimo dzielnego wysiłku ukraińskiej armii. Dużą część winy ponosi Putin, ale Zachód również powinien się wstydzić, że na to pozwolił. Jak zwykle, traktaty i porozumienia między krajami nic nie znaczą. Nigdy nie są honorowane.Después de no presentarse en 3 ocasiones, por fin ha venido hoy una señora de la limpieza. Fue muy amable y en 3 horas limpió todo el piso. Volverá el próximo lunes y me dio una pequeña lista de productos para comprar para la limpieza. Anna llegó a las 10:30 y a las 13:30 (1:30) ya había terminado. No hablaba inglés pero mi pobre polaco fue suficiente para comunicarme con ella. Es agradable quitarse la carga extra de la limpieza de la casa de encima. Admito que es la última cosa en mi lista de cosas que debo hacer.

El tiempo ha sido un poco caluroso hoy, 34C(88F) así que no es un buen día para estar fuera y tengo que admitir que me he dormido por la tarde. La "siesta" fue más larga de lo que quería pero, afortunadamente, había suficientes restos de la cena de la noche anterior que no tuve que hacer la cena. Volvió a ser ensalada fría de queso azul, nueces y pasta.

Las noticias de Ucrania no fueron muy buenas. Parece que Putin y su banda de matones han arrebatado a Ucrania la región del Donbás a pesar del valiente esfuerzo del ejército ucraniano. Gran parte de la culpa es de Putin, pero Occidente también debería avergonzarse de haber dejado que esto ocurriera. Como siempre, los tratados y acuerdos entre países no significan nada. Nunca se cumplen.

 US bolsters military presence in Europe

During a historic NATO summit held this week in Madrid, President Joe Biden said that Washington would significantly ramp up its military presence in Europe to increase NATO’s eastern flank, including setting up the 5th Army’s permanent headquarters in Poland – the first permanent US contingent in the region.

The United States also plans to increase the number of US destroyers based in Spain, position a rotational brigade in Romania, enhance its rotational deployments in the Baltic states and send additional squadrons of fighter jets to the UK, among other moves.

Our day of rest started early because we stayed in bed until 10:00. For breakfast, we had muesli with cherries from our friend Joanna's cherry tree and blueberry yogurt. After that it was the adventure of a shower for both of us. Usually, Joan doesn't want to do it but after it is over she is thankful she did.

There are currently about 100,000 US service members in Europe, according to John Kirby, National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on Thursday the completion of Poland's border wall with Belarus. 

It's part of Poland's response to migrant crossings into the European Union from Belarus last year, which had turned into a political standoff while at the very least 20 migrants died at the border's freezing forests and bogs.

The wall is 5.5 meters (18 feet) high and 186 kilometers (115 miles) long.

USA zwiększają obecność wojskową w Europie

Cytadela Park

Another good weather day so I took Joan to Park Cytadela. We have been to Solacki Park so often I thought it was time for a change of scenery. For a Saturday, it wasn't very full of people. Part of it is a cemetery for soldiers who fought in WWII and there are many graves of Russian soldiers who helped defeat the Nazis who occupied Poznan. No one knew that the Russians were to be given Poland after the war. It was because of the treachery of the United States and Great Britain. I never knew that until I moved here.

Kolejny dzień dobrej pogody, więc zabrałam Joannę do Parku Cytadela. Tak często bywaliśmy w Parku Solackiego, że pomyślałem, że czas na zmianę scenerii. Jak na sobotę, nie był zbytnio wypełniony ludźmi. Część to cmentarz żołnierzy, którzy walczyli w II wojnie światowej i jest tam wiele grobów żołnierzy rosyjskich, którzy pomogli pokonać nazistów, którzy zajęli Poznań. Otro día de buen tiempo, así que llevé a Joan al Parque Cytadela. Hemos estado tantas veces en el Parque Solacki que pensé que ya era hora de cambiar de aires. Para ser un sábado, no estaba muy lleno de gente. Parte de él es un cementerio de soldados que lucharon en la Segunda Guerra Mundial y hay muchas tumbas de soldados rusos que ayudaron a derrotar a los nazis que ocuparon Poznan. Nadie sabía que los rusos iban a recibir Polonia después de la guerra. Fue por la traición de Estados Unidos y Gran Bretaña. Nunca lo supe hasta que me mudé aquí.

Yes, it was a hot day today, 99F. However, at about 15:00(3 PM), the wind picked up and blew in cooler air, and now it is very pleasant. 

The owner of our flat called to see how we were doing and to tell me he is going on vacation for 2 months to the seaside. He was just checking to ask if we needed anything from him. he is a very nice man.

Joan worked with Bartosz on her problem of lifting her feet when she walks. her brain just doesn't seem to remember that now.  I remind her of it all the time but it doesn't stick.

I received a notice from the tax office that Joan's form was not filled out completely when we went there last week. It made me a little angry because it was the woman in the tax office who filled it out while we were standing there. She said it was all completed and even stamped it as received. Now, I have to ask Karolina to go back with me next week. Bureaucracy, I hate it.

Tak, to był dzisiaj gorący dzień, 99F. Jednak około 15:00 (3 PM), zerwał się wiatr i przywiał chłodniejsze powietrze i teraz jest bardzo przyjemnie. 

Zadzwonił właściciel naszego mieszkania , aby zobaczyć jak sobie radzimy i powiedzieć mi, że na 2 miesiące jedzie na wakacje nad morze. Sprawdzał tylko, czy czegoś od niego nie potrzebujemy. to bardzo miły człowiek. 

Joan pracowała z Bartoszem nad swoim problemem podnoszenia stóp, kiedy chodzi. Jej mózg po prostu nie wydaje się teraz tego pamiętać.  Przypominam jej o tym cały czas, ale to się nie trzyma kupy. 

Otrzymałem zawiadomienie z urzędu skarbowego, że formularz Joannl nie został całkowicie wypełniony, kiedy byliśmy tam w zeszłym tygodniu. Trochę mnie to rozzłościło, bo to kobieta w urzędzie skarbowym wypełniła go, gdy my tam staliśmy. Powiedziała, że wszystko jest wypełnione i nawet podstemplowała go jako otrzymany. Teraz muszę poprosić Karolinę, żeby wróciła ze mną w przyszłym tygodniu. Biurokracja, nie cierpię jej.

El propietario de nuestro piso llamó para ver cómo estábamos y para decirme que se iba de vacaciones durante 2 meses a la costa. Sólo quería saber si necesitábamos algo de él. Es un hombre muy agradable.

Joan trabajó con Bartosz en su problema de levantar los pies cuando camina. su cerebro parece no recordarlo ahora.  Se lo recuerdo todo el tiempo pero no se le queda.

Recibí un aviso de la oficina de impuestos de que el formulario de Joan no estaba rellenado completamente cuando fuimos allí la semana pasada. Me enfadó un poco porque fue la mujer de la oficina de impuestos quien lo rellenó mientras estábamos allí. Ella dijo que estaba todo completo e incluso lo selló como recibido. Ahora, tengo que pedirle a Karolina que vuelva conmigo la semana que viene. La burocracia, la odio.

June 30 (Reuters) - "Russian forces have withdrawn from Snake Island in the Black Sea in a move Ukraine hailed as a victory and Russia said showed Moscow was not seeking to hinder UN efforts to organize a corridor for the export of Ukrainian agricultural produce.

* Russia withdrew from Snake Island as a "gesture of goodwill", Russia's defense ministry said.

* Oleksii Hromov, a brigadier general in Ukraine's armed forces, said Russian equipment on the island had been destroyed. There were no Ukrainian forces on the island yet, but there would be, he said".

Once again Russia is trying to look good in defeat. 

It was a warm day in the afternoon but the early morning weather was better for food shopping which I did at 7:00. The cost for next week's food was 150 PLN($34)

A NATO summit is currently underway in Madrid, attended among others by US President Joe Biden. The president announced Wednesday that the headquarters of the US Army V Corps will be moved to Poland. The U.S. V Land Forces Corps' forward command in Poland is operating in Poznan today. As defence24.pl reports, the relocation of the US Corps headquarters to Poznan as well (thus the full command will operate in Poznan) is a significant strengthening of defense. This is the highest tactical command of the US Land Forces.

30 czerwca (Reuters) - "Rosyjskie siły wycofały się z Wyspy Wężowej na Morzu Czarnym w sposób, który Ukraina okrzyknęła zwycięstwem, a Rosja powiedziała, że pokazała, że Moskwa nie dąży do utrudnienia wysiłków ONZ w celu zorganizowania korytarza dla eksportu ukraińskich produktów rolnych.

W Madrycie trwa obecnie szczyt NATO, w którym uczestniczy m.in. prezydent USA Joe Biden. Prezydent zapowiedział w środę, że do Polski przeniesiona zostanie kwatera główna V Korpusu Wojsk Lądowych USA. Dziś w Poznaniu działa wysunięte dowództwo V Korpusu Sił Lądowych USA w Polsce. Jak relacjonuje defence24.pl, przeniesienie do Poznania także kwatery głównej Korpusu z USA (tym samym w Poznaniu działać będzie pełne dowództwo) jest istotnym wzmocnieniem obrony. To najwyższe dowództwo taktyczne Wojsk Lądowych USA.

Open on Sunday?

Here is some news from our region.

During the General Meeting of Dino Poland, a retail food store chain, held last week, several resolutions were passed. One of them provides for an extension of the stores' activity by the possibility of renting and leasing recreational and sports equipment and other personal and household goods. The matter has attracted the interest of the trade media.

Other retail chains have also decided to take a similar step this year. Probably it may be a matter of looking for opportunities to trade on non-trading Sundays. Since 1 February,  the trade ban has been tightened by introducing changes in the provisions. Stores that operate postal and courier services, if it does not constitute at least 40 percent of the monthly revenue from retail sales, can no longer be open on non-trading Sundays.

Last February, shortly after the introduction of seals in the ban on Sunday trading, there were stores that circumvented the ban by providing customers with the opportunity to rent recreational and sports equipment. Will they be successful? Only time will tell. Source-epoznan.pl

Oto kilka wiadomości z naszego regionu. 

Podczas Walnego Zgromadzenia Dino Polska, sieci detalicznych sklepów spożywczych, które odbyło się w ubiegłym tygodniu, podjęto kilka uchwał. Jedna z nich przewiduje rozszerzenie działalności sklepów o możliwość wypożyczania i dzierżawy sprzętu rekreacyjnego i sportowego oraz innych artykułów użytku osobistego i domowego. Sprawa spotkała się z zainteresowaniem mediów branżowych. 

Na podobny krok zdecydowały się w tym roku także inne sieci handlowe. Prawdopodobnie będzie to kwestia poszukiwania możliwości handlu w niedziele niehandlowe. Od 1 lutego zakaz handlu został zaostrzony poprzez wprowadzenie zmian w przepisach. Sklepy, które prowadzą działalność pocztową i kurierską, jeśli nie stanowi ona co najmniej 40 proc. miesięcznych przychodów ze sprzedaży detalicznej, nie mogą być otwarte w niedziele niehandlowe.

Durante la Junta General de la cadena de tiendas de alimentación Dino Poland, celebrada la semana pasada, se aprobaron varias resoluciones. Una de ellas prevé la ampliación de la actividad de las tiendas mediante la posibilidad de alquilar y arrendar equipos de ocio y deportivos y otros artículos personales y domésticos. El asunto ha despertado el interés de los medios de comunicación especializados.

Otras cadenas minoristas también han decidido dar un paso similar este año. Probablemente se trate de buscar oportunidades para comerciar en domingos no comerciales. Desde el 1 de febrero, la prohibición del comercio se ha endurecido introduciendo cambios en las disposiciones. Los comercios que prestan servicios postales y de mensajería, si no constituyen al menos el 40% de los ingresos mensuales por ventas al por menor, ya no pueden abrir los domingos no comerciales.

What am  I doing awake at 4:11 in the morning?  Joan was making too much noise in her sleep and it woke me up. It's been happening often now. I don't know why the change in her body makes this happen but it's become a problem lately for me. I don't want to wake her to stop it. However, it would be nice if I had another room to go to sleep.

Once the initial shock of sleeping only 4 hours is over, I still can appreciate the stillness of the morning when most of my world is sleeping and the sun is providing an array of colors in the sky as it rises. This morning, the clouds are very thin and spaced out enough to let the blue dominate the sky. In my younger years, I preferred the night and early mornings like this when the world was just waking up for me. It's kind of like winters when the snow covered the ground like a blanket and it seemed to make it more peaceful. Of course, now there is a war going on in our neighboring Ukraine so my thoughts of peace are somewhat tempered.

Night time for me now provides me with a much-needed break from my daily doings and the constant awareness of Joan. Sometimes it gives me the Skype opportunity to talk with our daughter Karen like I did last night. The poor girl/woman has her own problems in her life and it's good to let her talk with me about them. We did last night for about an hour.

The day in front of me has Karolina coming at 10:30 to sit with Joan for 3 hours while I go out and take care of some matters that need to be taken care of. If the weather permits, I will come back home and take Joan out for a while.

In the evening I have a doctor's appointment at 6:20 on the other side of town so Joan will have to go with me. I never leave her home alone. Radek is still not over his Covid-19 bout so we have no meeting again this week.

Now it's 5:04 and I will try to have a little nap before I have to get up at 9:00.

Co ja robię, nie śpiąc o 4:11 nad ranem?  Joan za bardzo hałasowała przez sen i to mnie obudziło. Teraz zdarza się to często. Nie wiem, dlaczego zmiany zachodzące w jej ciele to powodują, ale ostatnio stało się to dla mnie problemem. Nie chcę jej budzić, żeby to przerwać. Byłoby jednak miło, gdybym miał inny pokój, w którym mógłbym się położyć spać. 

Kiedy już minie początkowy szok związany z tym, że śpię tylko 4 godziny, nadal potrafię docenić spokój poranka, kiedy większość mojego świata śpi, a słońce wschodzi i roztacza na niebie całą gamę kolorów. Tego ranka chmury są bardzo rzadkie i na tyle rozproszone, że na niebie dominuje błękit. W młodości wolałem noc i wczesne poranki, kiedy świat dopiero się budził. To trochę jak w zimie, kiedy śnieg przykrywał ziemię jak kocem i wydawało się, że jest spokojniej. Oczywiście, teraz w sąsiedniej Ukrainie trwa wojna, więc moje myśli o pokoju są nieco złagodzone. 

Noc jest dla mnie koniecznością, by  odpocząć od codziennych spraw i ciągłego czuwania nad Joan. Czasami mam okazję porozmawiać przez Skype'a z naszą córką Karen, tak jak to było wczoraj wieczorem. Biedna dziewczyna/kobieta ma swoje problemy w życiu i dobrze jest pozwolić jej porozmawiać o nich ze mną. Wczoraj wieczorem rozmawialiśmy przez około godzinę. 

Co w ciągu dnia:  o 10:30 przyjdzie Karolina, aby posiedzieć z Joan przez 3 godziny, podczas gdy ja wyjdę i zajmę się kilkoma sprawami, które trzeba załatwić. Jeśli pogoda pozwoli, wrócę do domu i zabiorę Joan na chwilę na zewnątrz. 

Wieczorem, o 18:20  mam wizytę u lekarza na drugim końcu miasta, więc Joan będzie musiała pojechać ze mną. Nigdy nie zostawiam jej samej w domu. Radek nadal nie skończył swojej walki z Covid-19, więc w tym tygodniu nie mamy spotkania. 

Teraz jest 5:04 i spróbuję się zdrzemnąć, zanim będę musiał wstać o 9:00.

¿Qué hago despierto a las 4:11 de la mañana?  Joan estaba haciendo mucho ruido mientras dormía y me despertó. Ahora está ocurriendo a menudo. No sé por qué el cambio en su cuerpo hace que esto ocurra, pero últimamente se ha convertido en un problema para mí. No quiero despertarla para que deje de hacerlo. Sin embargo, sería bueno que tuviera otra habitación para ir a dormir.

Una vez superado el shock inicial de dormir sólo 4 horas, todavía puedo apreciar la quietud de la mañana cuando la mayor parte de mi mundo está durmiendo y el sol está proporcionando una gama de colores en el cielo mientras se levanta. Esta mañana, las nubes son muy finas y están lo suficientemente espaciadas como para que el azul domine el cielo. En mis años de juventud, prefería la noche y las mañanas tempranas como ésta, cuando el mundo acababa de despertarse para mí. Es como los inviernos, cuando la nieve cubría el suelo como un manto y parecía que lo hacía más tranquilo. Por supuesto, ahora hay una guerra en nuestra vecina Ucrania, así que mis pensamientos de paz se ven algo atenuados.

La noche me proporciona un descanso muy necesario de mis actividades diarias y de la conciencia constante de Juana. A veces me da la oportunidad de hablar por Skype con nuestra hija Karen, como hice anoche. La pobre chica/mujer tiene sus propios problemas en su vida y es bueno dejarla hablar conmigo sobre ellos. Anoche lo hicimos durante una hora.

El día que tengo por delante tiene a Karolina viniendo a las 10:30 para sentarse con Joan durante 3 horas mientras yo salgo a ocuparme de algunos asuntos que necesitan ser atendidos. Si el tiempo lo permite, volveré a casa y sacaré a Koan un rato.

Por la tarde tengo una cita con el médico a las 6:20 en la otra punta de la ciudad, así que Joan tendrá que acompañarme. Nunca la dejo sola en casa. Radek aún no ha superado su ataque de Covid-19, así que esta semana no hemos vuelto a reunirnos.

Ahora son las 5:04 e intentaré echar una pequeña siesta antes de tener que levantarme a las 9:00.

This is not going to be a pleasant weather week for us. Today's 30C will go up to 39C by the end of the week according to a weather forecast. NO, we don't like hot weather.

Covid-19 returns.

It was such a beautiful night last night. After Joan went to bed and I had a little WhatsApp lesson with my friend, Cari, in Spain, I took my cell and headphones out on the balcony. I have some nice Bossa Nowa Jazz music on the cell and I listened to it while I watched the night sky. Because of the many night lights everywhere, it is difficult to observe many stars. I looked at the brightest one and I thought it was moving until I spied a satellite that was moving past it.

While sitting there, it reminded me of the time when Joan and I went to Colorado on vacation. We were much younger then and only together for about a year. Our thing back then was camping and we spent one night at the top of the Rocky mountains. The weather was very nice and we decided to just sleep in our sleeping bags without using our tent. We had a little fire going but it didn't throw off enough light to damage observing the stars. The dark blue sky was filled with thousands of stars. We spent most of the night awake, watching the world turn as the stars moved past us from right to left. It was possible to actually feel that the world was turning. It seems now, living in this concrete jungle called a city, that you don't really see what is above you, millions of stars.

I miss living among nature a lot. All I have left are the memories of my house, teepee, good friends, and really marvelous adventures. All of it was only possible because I found a wonderful, beautiful, intelligent, independent, and loving woman who eventually became my life partner, She isn't just my wife, she is all of those things, and my everything. 

I spoke with my friend, Radek who had been in Warsaw for another tango event. When he came back home he had a cough, and runny nose but no temperature. After a few days of not feeling better, he went to have a PCR test for Covid-19. It came back positive. This is the third time he has had it. Now, he is in a period of self-isolation. 

Wczoraj wieczorem była taka piękna noc. Po tym, jak Joan poszła spać, a ja miałem małą lekcję WhatsApp z moją przyjaciółką Cari z Hiszpanii, wyciągnąłem komórkę i słuchawki na balkon. Mam w komórce przyjemną muzykę Bossa Nowa Jazz i słuchałam jej, obserwując nocne niebo. Ponieważ wszędzie jest dużo nocnych świateł, trudno jest zaobserwować wiele gwiazd. Spojrzałem na najjaśniejszą z nich i wydawało mi się, że się porusza, dopóki nie dostrzegłem satelity, który przesuwał się obok niej.

Kiedy tam siedziałem, przypomniały mi się czasy, kiedy razem z Joan pojechaliśmy na wakacje do Kolorado. Byliśmy wtedy dużo młodsi i byliśmy razem dopiero od roku. Naszą pasją był wtedy kemping i spędziliśmy jedną noc na szczycie Gór Skalistych. Pogoda była bardzo ładna i postanowiliśmy spać w śpiworach bez namiotu. Rozpaliliśmy małe ognisko, ale nie dawało ono wystarczająco dużo światła, aby zaszkodzić obserwacji gwiazd. Ciemnoniebieskie niebo było pełne tysięcy gwiazd. Większość nocy spędziliśmy na czuwaniu, obserwując, jak świat się obraca, a gwiazdy przesuwają się obok nas z prawej do lewej strony. Można było naprawdę poczuć, że świat się obraca. Teraz, żyjąc w tej betonowej dżungli zwanej miastem, wydaje się, że tak naprawdę nie widać tego, co jest nad nami - milionów gwiazd.

Bardzo brakuje mi życia wśród przyrody. Pozostały mi tylko wspomnienia o moim domu, tipi, dobrych przyjaciołach i naprawdę wspaniałych przygodach. Rozmawiałem z moim przyjacielem Radkiem, który był w Warszawie na kolejnej imprezie tangowej. Kiedy wrócił do domu, miał kaszel i katar, ale nie miał temperatury. Po kilku dniach, kiedy nie czuł się lepiej, poszedł na badanie PCR na obecność Covid-19. Wynik okazał się pozytywny. To już trzeci raz, kiedy ma tę chorobę. Obecnie jest w okresie samoizolacji. 

Anoche fue una noche tan hermosa. Después de que Joan se fuera a la cama y yo tuviera una pequeña clase de WhatsApp con mi amiga Cari, en España, saqué mi móvil y mis auriculares al balcón. Tengo una bonita música de Bossa Nowa Jazz en el móvil y la escuché mientras observaba el cielo nocturno. Debido a las muchas luces nocturnas que hay por todas partes, es difícil observar muchas estrellas. Miré la más brillante y pensé que se movía hasta que dirisé un satélite que pasaba por delante de ella.

Mientras estaba sentado allí, me recordó la época en que Joan y yo fuimos a Colorado de vacaciones. Entonces éramos mucho más jóvenes y sólo llevábamos un año juntos. Lo nuestro entonces era acampar y pasamos una noche en la cima de las Montañas Rocosas. Hacía muy buen tiempo y decidimos dormir en nuestros sacos de dormir sin usar la tienda de campaña. Teníamos una pequeña hoguera encendida, pero no arrojaba suficiente luz para perjudicar la observación de las estrellas. El cielo azul oscuro estaba lleno de miles de estrellas. Echo mucho de menos vivir entre la naturaleza. Lo único que me queda son los recuerdos de mi casa, el tipi, los buenos amigos y las aventuras realmente maravillosas. Todo ello sólo fue posible porque encontré a una mujer maravillosa, hermosa, inteligente, independiente y cariñosa que acabó convirtiéndose en mi compañera de vida, No es sólo mi esposa, es todas esas cosas, y mi todo. 

Hablé con mi amigo Radek, que había estado en Varsovia para otro evento de tango. Cuando regresó a casa tenía tos y secreción nasal, pero no tenía fiebre. Después de unos días sin sentirse mejor, fue a hacerse una prueba de PCR para Covid-19. El resultado fue positivo. Es la tercera vez que lo tiene. Ahora se encuentra en un periodo de autoaislamiento. 

Hace calor! It's hot.

Summer heat started today and will last at least for 10 days with a high temperature of 39C(102F) forecasted for a week from tomorrow. We have never had that temperature since we moved here 15 years ago. In Span, that is "normal" now but not in Poland. Don't tell me climate change is a hoax.

Here is a question for anyone living in the U.S. Do you see or know of a transportation device known as an electric scooter? They can speed up to 15 mph and 18.5 miles before you have to recharge them. They range in price from $520 to$880. We have a lot of them in Poznan.

Today was a good food shopping day. I only spent 125 PLN($29). The low cost was because this coming week we will have cold zucchini soups and cold creamy tomato soup. The weather had an influence on my selection of the menu last night.

W dniu dzisiejszym rozpoczęły się letnie upały, które potrwają co najmniej przez 10 dni. Za tydzień przewidywana jest wysoka temperatura 39C (102F). Nigdy nie mieliśmy takiej temperatury, odkąd się tu przeprowadziliśmy 15 lat temu. W Hiszpanii to jest teraz "normalne", ale nie w Polsce. Nie mówcie mi, że zmiany klimatyczne to oszustwo. 

Pytanie do wszystkich osób mieszkających w Stanach Zjednoczonych: Czy widziałeś lub znasz urządzenie transportowe znane jako skuter elektryczny? Skutery te mogą poruszać się z prędkością do 15 mil na godzinę i przejechać 18,5 mili, zanim trzeba będzie je naładować. Ich cena waha się od 520 do 880 dolarów. W Poznaniu mamy ich bardzo dużo. 

Dzisiejszy dzień był udany pod względem zakupów spożywczych. Wydałem tylko 125 PLN (29$). Niski koszt był spowodowany tym, że w nadchodzącym tygodniu będziemy mieli zimne zupy: jedną z cukinii i drugą krem pomidorowy. Pogoda miała wpływ na mój dobór menu wczoraj wieczorem.

El calor del verano ha comenzado hoy y durará al menos 10 días. Se prevé una temperatura máxima de 39C (102F) para dentro de una semana. Desde que nos mudamos aquí hace 15 años, nunca habíamos tenido temperaturas así. Esto es "normal" en España ahora, pero no en Polonia. No me digan que el cambio climático es un bulo. 

Una pregunta para quien viva en Estados Unidos: ¿Has visto o conoces un dispositivo de transporte conocido como patinete eléctrico? Estos scooters pueden ir hasta 15 millas por hora y recorrer 18,5 millas antes de necesitar ser recargados. Su precio oscila entre los 520 y los 880 dólares. En Poznan abundan. 

Hoy ha sido un día exitoso en cuanto a la compra de alimentos. Sólo he gastado 125 PLN (29 dólares). El bajo coste se debió a que la semana que viene tendremos sopas frías: una de calabacín y otra de crema de tomate. El tiempo influyó en mi selección del menú de anoche.

Tax day!

Our friend, Karolina, met us at the local tax office at 11;30 where I had an appointment. She was there mainly as a translator. After telling the clerk our problem with Joan's tax form(Pit-36), she gave Karolina some forms to fill out to register Joan at that office. Looking at Joan's record, she said she only saw her registered at our old place in Jezyce. That seemed strange to me because I did not fill out any forms for myself and yet my tax return had arrived last month. She also said it would take 3 weeks to complete the process. Talking further with her, Karolina was able to get everything completed and accepted today. Joan will receive 526 PLN($120) returned. Now all I have to do is file American tax forms.

It was a beautiful weather day, I took Joan to the plaza(Plac Wolnosci) after we were done and we sat for about 2 hours watching people. It was just too nice to be inside. I just had black coffee while Joan had coffee and a pastry.

Nasza przyjaciółka, Karolina, spotkała się z nami w miejscowym urzędzie skarbowym o 11.30, gdzie miałem umówione spotkanie. Była tam głównie jako tłumaczka. Po przedstawieniu urzędniczce naszego problemu z formularzem podatkowym Joan (Pit-36), dała ona Karolinie kilka formularzy do wypełnienia, aby zarejestrować Joan w urzędzie. Przeglądając akta Joanny, powiedziała, że widziała ją zarejestrowaną tylko w naszym starym miejscu na Jeżycach. Wydało mi się to dziwne, ponieważ nie wypełniłem żadnych formularzy dla siebie, a przecież moje zeznanie podatkowe przyszło w zeszłym miesiącu. Powiedziała też, że proces ten potrwa 3 tygodnie. Po dalszych rozmowach z Karoliną udało się dziś wszystko uzupełnić i zaakceptować. Joan otrzyma 526 zł (120 dolarów) zwrotu. Teraz muszę tylko złożyć amerykańskie formularze podatkowe. 

Była piękna pogoda więc zabrałem Joan do Plaza (Plac Wolności), gdzie siedzieliśmy na zewnątrz  około 2 godzin, obserwując ludzi. Było po prostu zbyt przyjemnie, żeby siedzieć w środku . Ja wypiłem tylko czarną kawę, a Joan miała kawę i ciastko.

Nuestra amiga, Karolina, se reunió con nosotros en la oficina de impuestos local a las 11:30, donde yo tenía una cita. Estaba allí principalmente como traductora. Después de contarle a la empleada nuestro problema con el formulario de impuestos de Joan (Pit-36), le dio a Karolina unos formularios para que rellenara y registrara a Joan en esa oficina. Mirando el historial de Joan, dijo que sólo la había visto registrada en nuestra antigua casa de Jezyce. Eso me pareció extraño porque yo no rellené ningún formulario para mí y, sin embargo, mi declaración de la renta había llegado el mes pasado. También dijo que tardaría 3 semanas en completar el proceso. Hablando más con ella, Karolina consiguió que todo se completara y se aceptara hoy. Joan recibirá la devolución de 526 PLN (120 dólares). Ahora solo tengo que presentar los formularios de impuestos americanos.

Fue un día con un clima hermoso, llevé a Joan a la plaza (Plac Wolnosci) después de que terminamos y nos sentamos por cerca de 2 horas viendo a la gente. Era demasiado agradable para estar dentro. Yo me limité a tomar un café solo mientras Joan tomaba un café y un pastelito.

Moringa.

Joan and I have been using the leaves of a certain "tree" to improve our health. It is called Moringa. I started using it first because of a diagnosis of prediabetes. It helps lower your blood sugar levels. After 2 weeks of monitoring my levels each day, the daily results were normal. Going further, I stopped using Moringa for another 2 weeks and found my levels were still normal without it. However, after reading more about this tree, I decided it was something we should both be using every day.  I am enclosing a website that tells more about it and why we use it. I had a nice surprise this morning. When I went to help Joan out of bed, she was already sitting up waiting for me. It is the first time she sat up by herself without my help. It may not seem like much but for her and me, it was.

Bartosz arrived at 10:30 for her exercise time. She was able to walk around the parking area 3 times today and up and down 2 staircases.

I spoke with a friend who moved back to the U.S. 3 years ago. Replying to my question about how she was, she was not happy living there. There are no parks or outside cafes where she lives and her neighbors are superficially friendly. I encouraged her to move back to Poland.

Joan i ja używamy liści pewnego "drzewa", aby poprawić nasze zdrowie. Nazywa się ono Moringa. Zacząłem ją stosować po raz pierwszy, ponieważ zdiagnozowano u mnie stan przedcukrzycowy. Pomaga ono obniżyć poziom cukru we krwi. Po dwóch tygodniach codziennego monitorowania poziomu cukru, wyniki były w normie. Dziś rano spotkała mnie miła niespodzianka. Kiedy poszedłem pomóc Joan wstać z łóżka, ona już siedziała i czekała na mnie. To pierwszy raz, kiedy usiadła sama bez mojej pomocy. Może się wydawać, że to niewiele, ale dla niej i dla mnie to było coś wielkiego. 

Bartosz przyjechał o 10:30 na  ćwiczenia z Joan. Udało jej się dzisiaj 3 razy obejść parking i pokonać 2 schody. 

Rozmawiałem z koleżanką, która 3 lata temu wróciła do USA. Odpowiadając na moje pytanie, jak się czuje, stwierdziła, że nie jest zadowolona z życia. Tam, gdzie mieszka, nie ma parków ani kawiarni na zewnątrz, a jej sąsiedzi są powierzchownie przyjaźni. Namawiałem ją, żeby wróciła do Polski.

Esta mañana me he llevado una agradable sorpresa. Cuando fui a ayudar a Joan a salir de la cama, ya estaba sentada esperándome. Es la primera vez que se levanta sola sin mi ayuda. Puede parecer poco, pero para ella y para mí lo fue.

Bartosz llegó a las 10:30 para su hora de ejercicio. Ella pudo caminar alrededor del área de estacionamiento 3 veces hoy y subir y bajar 2 escaleras.

Hablé con una amiga que se mudó a los Estados Unidos hace 3 años. Respondiendo a mi pregunta sobre cómo estaba, no era feliz viviendo allí. No hay parques ni cafés exteriores donde ella vive y sus vecinos son superficialmente amigables. La animé a volver a Polonia.

Rain.

Finally, we have had a day of steady light rain that has been sorely needed. There is no drought warning that I know of but the ground has been very dry for months. the lack of snow during the "winter" didn't help either. 

Today was the day to make lasagna. It's a tedious task but the end result produces dinner for 2 days and enough marinara sauce left over to use for spaghetti another night. I make my own sauce consisting of 1 diced onion. 2 diced carrots, 3 teaspoons of Italian seasoning, 3 celery stalks, tomato sauce, and paste. I do it because I haven't been able to find it in a store.

We watched an interesting documentary about Kieth Richards of the Rolling Stones band. Of course, we have known of him for a long time but never knew much about him other than being amazed at how long he has survived. We found the documentary on Netflix.

I was supposed to help Joan do her exercises today but she was more tired than usual and we passed on it.

KYIV, June 20 (Reuters) - Russian forces captured territory along a frontline river in eastern Ukraine on Monday, and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy predicted Moscow would escalate attacks ahead of a summit of European leaders expected to welcome Kyiv's bid to join the EU.

Moscow's separatist proxies claimed to have captured Toshkivka, a town on the mostly Ukrainian-held western bank of the Siverskyi Donets river, south of Sievierodonetsk, which has become the main battlefield city in recent weeks.

Wreszcie doczekaliśmy się dnia stałego, lekkiego deszczu, który był tak bardzo potrzebny. Nie ma żadnego ostrzeżenia o suszy, o którym bym wiedział, ale ziemia od miesięcy była bardzo wysuszona. Brak śniegu podczas "zimy" też nie pomagał. 

Dziś był dzień na zrobienie lasagne. Jest to żmudne zajęcie, ale w efekcie końcowym powstaje obiad na dwa dni i wystarczająco dużo sosu marinara, aby użyć go do spaghetti na inny wieczór. Robię swój własny sos, składający się z 1 cebuli pokrojonej w kostkę, 2 marchewek pokrojonej w kostkę, 3 łyżeczek przyprawy włoskiej, 3 łodyg selera, sosu pomidorowego oraz makaronu. Robię go, ponieważ nie udało mi się go znaleźć w sklepie. 

Obejrzeliśmy ciekawy film dokumentalny o Kiethie Richardsie z zespołu Rolling Stones. Oczywiście znamy go od dawna, ale nigdy nie wiedzieliśmy o nim zbyt wiele, poza tym, że byliśmy zdumieni, jak długo udało mu się przeżyć. Film znaleźliśmy na Netflixie. 

Miałem dziś pomóc Joan w ćwiczeniach, ale była bardziej zmęczona niż zwykle i zrezygnowaliśmy z tego.

Por fin tuvimos un día de lluvia ligera y constante, que era muy necesaria. Que yo sepa no hay alerta de sequía, pero el suelo llevaba meses muy seco. La falta de nieve durante el "invierno" tampoco ayudó. 

Hoy era el día de hacer lasaña. Es un trabajo tedioso, pero el resultado final es una cena para dos días y suficiente salsa marinara para usarla en los espaguetis otra noche. Hago mi propia salsa, que consiste en 1 cebolla picada, 2 zanahorias picadas, 3 cucharaditas de condimento italiano, 3 tallos de apio, salsa de tomate y pasta. Lo hago porque no he podido encontrarlo en la tienda. 

Vimos un interesante documental sobre Kieth Richards, del grupo Rolling Stones. Le conocemos desde hace mucho tiempo, por supuesto, pero nunca supimos mucho de él, salvo que nos sorprendía el tiempo que había conseguido sobrevivir. Encontramos la película en Netflix. 

Se suponía que hoy iba a ayudar a Joan a hacer ejercicio, pero estaba más cansada que de costumbre y desistimos.

99F(37C) meant another day staying inside our flat with the curtains closed at 12:00 as the sun burning down on us created too much hot air. With windows closed and curtains were drawn, it was cooler inside. Last night I selected 3 movies to watch today because I knew I wouldn't be taking Joan outside. So, between making breakfast lunch, and dinner we watched 2 of the movies and I studied a little while Joan had a brief nap.

At 15:00(3 PM) I Skyped with my friend, Carmelo in Spain and he was surprised that we had a higher temperature than at his house. There it was only 33C. 

While Joan Skyped with Karen, I prepared a nice, cold Cobb salad for our dinner. About 22:00(10 PM) the clouds started rolling in, the temperature was on its way down and thunderstorms were beginning. Unfortunately, they didn't provide much-needed rain.

June 19 (Reuters) - Two top commanders of fighters who defended the Azovstal steel plant in Ukraine's southeastern port of Mariupol have been transferred to Russia for investigation, Russia's state news agency TASS reported.

Uncertainty has surrounded the fate of hundreds of fighters captured by Russian forces in May after a months-long siege of Mariupol. Moscow said at the time they were moved to breakaway Russian-backed entities in eastern Ukraine.

99F(37C) oznaczało kolejny dzień spędzony w mieszkaniu z zasłonami zasuniętymi o 12:00, ponieważ palące słońce tworzyło zbyt gorące powietrze. Gdy okna były zamknięte, a zasłony zaciągnięte, w środku było chłodniej. Wczoraj wieczorem wybrałem 3 filmy do obejrzenia na dzisiaj, ponieważ wiedziałem, że nie będę zabierał Joanny na zewnątrz. Tak więc między śniadaniem, obiadem i kolacją obejrzeliśmy 2 filmy, a ja trochę się uczyłem, podczas gdy Joan miała krótką drzemkę.

O 15:00 (15:00) rozmawiałem przez Skypa z moim przyjacielem Carmelo z Hiszpanii i był zaskoczony, że u nas jest wyższa temperatura niż u niego w domu. Tam było tylko 33C.

99F(37C) significó otro día de permanecer dentro de nuestro piso con las cortinas cerradas a las 12:00 ya que el sol quemando sobre nosotros creó demasiado aire caliente. Con las ventanas cerradas y las cortinas corridas, se estaba más fresco dentro. Anoche seleccioné 3 películas para ver hoy porque sabía que no iba a sacar a Joan fuera. Así que entre la preparación del desayuno, el almuerzo y la cena vimos 2 de las películas y estudié un poco mientras Joan dormía una breve siesta.

A las 15:00(3 PM) me comuniqué por Skype con mi amigo Carmelo en España y se sorprendió de que tuviéramos una temperatura más alta que en su casa. Allí sólo había 33C. 

Mientras Joan hablaba por Skype con Karen, yo preparé una buena ensalada Cobb fría para nuestra cena. Alrededor de las 22:00(10 PM) empezaron a aparecer las nubes, la temperatura estaba en descenso y empezaban las tormentas. Por desgracia, no proporcionaron la tan necesaria lluvia.

A strawberry day.

We started off the day with a banana, sunflower seeds. pistachio nuts, peanut butter, milk, dates, and strawberry. Then I prepared strawberry soup with pasta for our dinner later. I made it early so that it would be cold by evening. With the temperature at 94F(33C), I thought serving a cold soup would be good and it was.

In the afternoon, I took Joan down to the underground parking area where we did her exercises in cooler temperatures.

I'm doing another experiment with my blood sugar levels. I stopped taking and recommend meds and the powder of the Moringa tree. I will monitor the levels each day to see if I really have prediabetes. I don't think I do.

Zaczęliśmy dzień od banana, ziaren słonecznika, orzechów pistacjowych, masła orzechowego, mleka, daktyli i truskawek. Następnie przygotowałam zupę truskawkową z makaronem na późniejszy obiad. Zrobiłem ją wcześnie, żeby wystygła do wieczora. Przy temperaturze 94F (33C) pomyślałem, że podanie zimnej zupy będzie dobre i tak też się stało.

Po południu zabrałem Joan do podziemnego parkingu, gdzie w chłodniejszej temperaturze wykonywaliśmy ćwiczenia.

Przeprowadzam kolejny eksperyment z moim poziomem cukru we krwi. Przestałem brać i zalecać leki oraz proszek z drzewa Moringa. Codziennie będę monitorować poziom, aby sprawdzić, czy rzeczywiście mam prediabetes. Wydaje mi się, że nie.

Empezamos el día con un plátano, semillas de girasol, pistachos, mantequilla de cacahuete, leche, dátiles y fresas. Luego preparé una sopa de fresas con pasta para nuestra cena posterior. La hice temprano para que estuviera fría por la noche. Con una temperatura de 94F (33C), pensé que servir una sopa fría sería bueno y lo fue.

Por la tarde, llevé a Joan al aparcamiento subterráneo donde hicimos sus ejercicios con temperaturas más frescas.

Estoy haciendo otro experimento con mis niveles de azúcar en la sangre. Dejé de tomar y recomendar medicamentos y el polvo del árbol de Moringa. Controlaré los niveles cada día para ver si realmente tengo prediabetes. Creo que no la tengo.

The renewed street.

Today was one of those too nice days to stay inside. While my friends in Spain are suffering from the heat(41C), here it is very pleasant at this time. So, I took Joan for a stroll down Sw. Marcin street in the center of town.

A few years ago, it went through a big renovation. At that time it was a 2-lane street on both sides with a small sidewalk. After the renovation. it now has only 1-lane and the sidewalks have been extended to include 1 of the lanes on both sides. It is very pedestrian-friendly now. They also removed the old sidewalk concrete and installed new large tiles that make up the sidewalks. Along the way, there are places to sit and a few sidewalk cafes. It is an improvement for bikers but not so much for car drivers. The idea was to attract more people downtown.

Earlier, I did the food shopping for the week, 185 PLN($41).

Dzisiaj był jeden z tych tak miłych dni, aby nie pozostać w domu. Podczas gdy moi przyjaciele w Hiszpanii cierpią z powodu upałów (41°C), tutaj, o tej porze, jest bardzo przyjemnie  Zabrałem więc Joan na spacer ulicą Św. Marcina w centrum miasta. 

Ulica przeszła generalny remont kilka lat temu Wówczas była to dwupasmowa ulica z dwoma pasami ruchu po obu stronach i małym chodnikiem. Po remoncie ma teraz tylko jeden pas, a chodniki zostały poszerzone do jednego z pasów po obu stronach. Jest teraz bardzo przyjazna dla pieszych. Usunięto także stary beton z chodników i położono nowe duże płyty jako chodniki. Wzdłuż drogi są miejsca do siedzenia i kilka kawiarni. Jest ułatwienie dla rowerzystów, ale już nie dla kierowców samochodów. Chodziło o to, aby przyciągnąć więcej ludzi do centrum. 

Wcześniej , tego dnia, zrobiłem zakupy żywności na cały tydzień za 185 PLN (41 USD).

Hoy ha sido uno de esos días demasiado agradables para quedarse dentro. Mientras mis amigos en España están sufriendo el calor (41C), aquí es muy agradable a estas horas. Así que llevé a Joan a dar un paseo por la calle Sw. Marcin en el centro de la ciudad.

Hace unos años, fue objeto de una gran renovación. En aquel momento era una calle de dos carriles a ambos lados con una pequeña acera. Después de la renovación, ahora sólo tiene un carril y las aceras se han ampliado para incluir uno de los carriles en ambos lados. Ahora es muy agradable para los peatones. También han eliminado el hormigón de la antigua acera y han instalado nuevas baldosas de gran tamaño que conforman las aceras. A lo largo del camino, hay lugares para sentarse y algunos cafés en las aceras. Es una mejora para los ciclistas, pero no tanto para los conductores de coches. La idea era atraer a más gente al centro.

Antes, hice la compra de alimentos para la semana, 185 PLN (41 dólares).

Lost places.

Countries in Europe are slowly losing many of their historical buildings due to a lack of money to restore and preserve them. Living in Poland, I came across this website that is photographing many of them,  https://www.facebook.com/noentryurbex. The writing is in Polish but you don't need to know a language when there are pictures to be seen and your imagination knows no language. If Joan was in better health, and gasolene wasn't 8 PLN per liter, I would like to see some of these places. Oh well, such is life now.

I visited the doctor today and told him about using Moringa. He had never heard of it before but was happy to see me using a more natural product to keep my blood sugar levels normal. He said he would be interested to know how they are when I experiment not using anything. Me too!

We returned home as soon as the appointment was over because Bartosz(PT man) was waiting for us there. He started his work with Joan walking up and down the stairs. When he was done, an hour later, I helped Joan take a shower and I washed her hair. She has lost some hair and when it is dirty it is possible to see her scalp. She doesn't like that.

The weather is getting warmer now and 31C(87F) is predicted for the weekend. That is too hot for me. I prefer it when it is about 75C(77F).

This war in Ukraine has affected the money exchange rate in a positive way for us. Now $1=4.46 PLN. However, I would be much happier with a lower rate and no war killing thousands of civilians and stealing part of the country by Putin.

Kraje w Europie powoli tracą wiele swoich historycznych budynków z powodu braku pieniędzy na ich renowację i zabezpieczenie. Mieszkając w Polsce, natknąłem się na tę stronę internetową, która zamieszcza fotografie wiele z nich, https://www.facebook.com/noentryurbex. Napisy są po polsku, ale nie trzeba znać języka, gdy można oglądać zdjęcia, a wyobraźnia nie potrzebuje języka. Gdyby zdrowie Joan było lepsze, a benzyna nie kosztowała 8 zł za litr, chciałbym zobaczyć niektóre z tych miejsc. No cóż, takie jest teraz życie. 

Byłem dziś u lekarza i opowiedziałem mu o stosowaniu Moringi. Nigdy wcześniej o niej nie słyszał, ale ucieszył się, że używam bardziej naturalnego produktu, aby utrzymać poziom cukru we krwi na normalnym poziomie. Powiedział, że chciałby wiedzieć, jak wygląda sytuacja, gdy eksperymentuję, nie używając niczego. Ja też! 

Wróciliśmy do domu zaraz po wizycie, ponieważ czekał tam na nas Bartosz (rehabilitant). Zaczął pracę od chodzenia z  Joan po schodach w górę i w dół. Kiedy godzinę później skończył, pomogłem Joan wziąć prysznic i umyłem jej włosy. Straciła trochę włosów i kiedy są brudne, widać jej skórę głowy. Nie lubi tego. 

Robi się coraz cieplej i na weekend zapowiadane jest 31°C (87F). To dla mnie za gorąco. Wolę, gdy jest około 25C(77F). 

Wojna na Ukrainie pozytywnie wpłynęła na kurs wymiany walut. Teraz 1 USD=4,46 PLN. Byłbym jednak dużo bardziej zadowolony z niższego kursu i bez wojny, w której Putin zabija tysiące cywilów i kradnie część kraju.

Los países de Europa están perdiendo poco a poco muchos de sus edificios históricos por falta de dinero para restaurarlos y conservarlos. Viviendo en Polonia, me encontré con este sitio web que está fotografiando muchos de ellos, https://www.facebook.com/noentryurbex. La redacción está en polaco, pero no hace falta saber un idioma cuando hay fotos que ver y la imaginación no conoce ningún idioma. Si Joan tuviera mejor salud y la gasolina no costara 8 PLN por litro, me gustaría ver algunos de estos lugares. Oh, bueno, así es la vida ahora.

Hoy he visitado al médico y le he hablado del uso de la Moringa. Nunca había oído hablar de ella, pero se alegró de que utilizara un producto más natural para mantener mis niveles de azúcar en sangre normales. Dijo que le interesaría saber cómo están cuando experimento sin usar nada. A mí también.

Volvimos a casa tan pronto como terminó la cita porque Bartosz (hombre de la PT) nos estaba esperando allí. Empezó su trabajo con Joan subiendo y bajando las escaleras. Cuando terminó, una hora más tarde, ayudé a Joan a ducharse y le lavé el pelo. Ha perdido algo de pelo y cuando está sucio se le puede ver el cuero cabelludo. A ella no le gusta eso.

El tiempo es cada vez más cálido y se pronostican 31C (87F) para el fin de semana. Eso es demasiado calor para mí. Prefiero que haga unos 75C (77F).

Esta guerra en Ucrania ha afectado al tipo de cambio de forma positiva para nosotros. Ahora 1$=4,46 PLN. Sin embargo, estaría mucho más contento con un tipo de cambio más bajo y sin que la guerra matara a miles de civiles y robara parte del país por parte de Putin.

 A little colder today so I stayed at home with Joan.

Radek came for our time together and for the first hour, we discussed how similar politics are between the U.S. and Poland. Both countries have ego-maniacs who want to run the country have official status to do so.

Dziś trochę chłodniej, więc zostałem z Joan w domu. 

Radek przyszedł na nasze zwykłe spotkanie i przez pierwszą godzinę rozmawialiśmy o tym, jak podobna jest polityka między USA a Polską. W obu krajach ego-maniacy, którzy chcą rządzić krajem mają na to oficjalny status.
