Pumpkins

Joan liked the little face pumpkin so much that she named it Jake. We had breakfast this morning and said goodbye to him. In the afternoon Jake sacrificed himself for my preparation of dinner, pumpkin soup. It was a sad time for us but the end result was not bad. However, I think we needed Jake plus a relative of his to make the soup really good. The added vegetable broth was just too strong and it overcame the taste of Jake.

Tomorrow is a day I wait for all year. The day of remembrance at the cemetery. As I mentioned before, this is the 3rd year we will not be going to Golina because of Covid and the flu still being fairly strong in the population of that town. Instead, we will wear masks and go to a local cemetery as dusk approaches and take pictures of the beautiful graves covered in flowers and candles. I do have one little cousin there.

Today was a day to watch the NFL highlights which we did until about noon. In the afternoon Joan watched a movie while I prepared the soup and then had a Skype conversation with my friend in Bydgoszcz. The evening was spent watching some episodes of the good series, Newsroom.

Putin continues to destroy as much of Ukraine as he is allowed with more missile attacks on Kyiv and other cities. It is not only his fault. The blame should be shared by all countries who allow this to continue.

Joan tak bardzo spodobała się mała twarzowa dynia, że nazwała ją Jake. Zjedliśmy rano śniadanie i pożegnaliśmy się z nim. Po południu Jake poświęcił się na przygotowanie przeze mnie obiadu, zupy z dyni. Był to dla nas smutny czas, ale efekt końcowy nie był zły. Myślę jednak, że potrzebowaliśmy Jake'a plus jego krewnego, aby zupa była naprawdę dobra. Dodany bulion warzywny był po prostu zbyt mocny i przekreślił smak Jakiego.

Jutro jest dzień, na który czekam cały rok. Dzień pamięci na cmentarzu. Jak już wspomniałem, to już 3 rok nie pojedziemy do Goliny ze względu na Covid i grypę, która wciąż jest dość silna w populacji tego miasta. Zamiast tego założymy maski i udamy się na miejscowy cmentarz, gdy zapadnie zmierzch, by zrobić zdjęcia pięknym grobom pokrytym kwiatami i zniczami. Mam tam jednego małego kuzyna.

Dzisiaj był dzień na oglądanie najważniejszych wydarzeń NFL, co robiliśmy do około południa. Po południu Joan oglądała film, podczas gdy ja przygotowywałem zupę, a następnie rozmawiałem przez Skype z moim przyjacielem z Bydgoszczy. Wieczór spędziliśmy na oglądaniu kilku odcinków dobrego serialu Newsroom.

Putin kontynuuje niszczenie tak dużej części Ukrainy, jak mu wolno, poprzez kolejne ataki rakietowe na Kijów i inne miasta. To nie jest tylko jego wina. Winą powinny być obarczone wszystkie kraje, które pozwalają na kontynuowanie tego procederu.

A Joan le gustó tanto la calabacita de cara que la llamó Jake. Esta mañana hemos desayunado y nos hemos despedido de él. Por la tarde Jake se sacrificó para que yo preparara la cena, una sopa de calabaza. Fue un momento triste para nosotros pero el resultado final no fue malo. Sin embargo, creo que necesitábamos a Jake y a un pariente suyo para que la sopa estuviera realmente buena. El caldo de verduras añadido era demasiado fuerte y superaba el sabor de Jake.

Mañana es un día que espero todo el año. El día del recuerdo en el cementerio. Como he mencionado antes, este es el tercer año que no iremos a Golina debido a que el Covid y la gripe siguen siendo bastante fuertes en la población de ese pueblo. En su lugar, llevaremos máscaras e iremos a un cementerio local cuando se acerque el atardecer y haremos fotos de las hermosas tumbas cubiertas de flores y velas. Allí tengo un primo pequeño.

Hoy ha sido un día para ver lo más destacado de la NFL, lo que hemos hecho hasta cerca del mediodía. Por la tarde Joan ha visto una película mientras yo preparaba la sopa y luego he mantenido una conversación por Skype con mi amigo de Bydgoszcz. La noche la pasamos viendo algunos episodios de la buena serie Newsroom.

Putin sigue destruyendo todo lo que se le permite de Ucrania con más ataques con misiles sobre Kiev y otras ciudades. La culpa no es sólo suya. La culpa debe ser compartida por todos los países que permiten que esto continúe.

Remembering Zbyszek.

Today was a day remembering our friend, Zbyszek, who passed away 1 year ago. With good, clear weather, we made the decision to go to the Morkowo cemetery to visit his and his wife's grave. I debated whether to buy flowers and candles. In the end, I thought something more relative was a little pitcher from Sowa's with a flower in it. You can see it in the pictures. 

It wasn't exactly the trip I had planned. Last year, going to Zbyszek's funeral with my friend Joanna driving, we took the new highway S5 and used her GPS to know where to get off. I thought I would do the same thing. However, soon after getting on the highway,  my GPS didn't show the new highway. The map is 10 years old and not updated. I drove on looking for a sign with a name close to Morkowo. When I saw Lipo, I got off the highway and reset my GPS. It showed the road I was on and the direction. Again, the road disappeared leaving me with no idea which way to go. I drove around until a road appeared but it didn't last for long. I ended up driving on tiny dirt roads through a forest until I came upon a paved highway. I followed it and finally after 2 hours and arrived at the cemetery,

There were only a few people there cleaning headstones, Morkowo is a very small village. It was easy to find Zbyszeks place with his wife. We placed the Sowa pitcher on the headstone, I took the pictures and we returned home via the old way.

The old way was only a road with 2 lanes, 1 coming and 1 going, Now it is a four-lane road connected to the S5 highway and we got back home in 1 hour.

Dzisiejszy dzień był dniem na  wspominanie naszego przyjaciela Zbyszka, który odszedł rok temu. Przy dobrej, bezchmurnej pogodzie podjęliśmy decyzję, że pojedziemy na cmentarz w Morkowie, aby odwiedzić grób jego i jego żony. Debatowałem, czy kupić kwiaty i znicze. W końcu uznałem, że czymś bardziej odnoszącym się do niego i do nas, będzie mały dzbanek od Sowy z kwiatkiem w środku. Możecie go zobaczyć na zdjęciach. 

Nie był to do końca wyjazd, który planowałem. W zeszłym roku, jadąc na pogrzeb Zbyszka z moją przyjaciółką Joanną, która prowadziła, pojechaliśmy nową autostradą S5 i korzystając z jej GPS wiedzieliśmy, jak dotrzeć na miejsce. Pomyślałem, że zrobię to samo. Jednak wkrótce po wjechaniu na autostradę, mój GPS nie pokazał nowej autostrady. Mapa ma 10 lat i nie jest aktualizowana. Pojechałem dalej szukając znaku z nazwą wsi w pobliżu Morkowa. Kiedy zobaczyłem Lipo, zjechałem z autostrady i zresetowałem mój GPS. Pokazał drogę, na której byłem i kierunek. Znowu droga zniknęła pozostawiając mnie bez pomysłu, w którą stronę jechać. Jeździłem dookoła, aż na ekranie pojawiła się droga, ale nie trwało to długo. Skończyło się na jeździe po małych polnych drogach przez las, aż natrafiłem na utwardzoną szosę. Podążyłem nią i w końcu po 2 godzinach dotarłem na cmentarz,

Było tam tylko kilka osób czyszczących nagrobki, Morkowo to bardzo mała wieś. Łatwo było znaleźć miejsce Zbyszka i żony. Postawiliśmy dzbanek Sowy na nagrobku, zrobiłem zdjęcia i starą drogą wróciliśmy do domu.

Teraz jest to czteropasmowa droga połączona z autostradą S5 i wróciliśmy do domu w 1 godzinę.

Inflation.

When will it end? Last July, 3 months ago, we were averaging 160 PLN($34) per week for food. Now, the average since then is 230 PLN($47). There is no relief in sight for stopping the continual rise in price.

The mid-term elections are not far off, 10 days, and the violence has already begun. Last night, one of the fanatics from the Republican side broke into the house of Speaker Nancy Pelosi with a hammer looking for her. When he couldn't find her, he beat her 84-year-old husband with a hammer and put him in the hospital. I think this is only the beginning of such attacks.

Kiedy to się skończy? W lipcu zeszłego roku, czyli 3 miesiące temu, na jedzenie przeznaczaliśmy średnio 160 zł($34) tygodniowo. Teraz średnia od tego czasu wynosi 230 zł($47). Nie widać ulgi w zatrzymaniu ciągłego wzrostu cen.

Wybory średnioterminowe są niedaleko, 10 dni, a przemoc już się zaczęła. Wczoraj wieczorem jeden z fanatyków ze strony republikańskiej wtargnął z młotkiem do domu marszałka Nancy Pelosi szukając jej. Gdy nie mógł jej znaleźć, pobił młotkiem jej 84-letniego męża i umieścił go w szpitalu. Myślę, że to dopiero początek takich ataków

Opony.

Opony=tires. Today we have a set of 4 Goodyear all-season tires on the car. The size is 175/65 with a 14" rim. The total cost was 1,440 PLN($304) including balancing and mounting. It took them only 1/2 hour to make the change. However, I still had the little yellow icon warning me of low pressure in tires. As I said before, we have used all-season tires for years in the U.S. and had no regrets about using them here. Yes, it was a lot of money but considering it would have cost me almost twice as much to buy a set of winter plus a set of summer tires, I think I made the right decision.

As to the yellow warning sign, I finally resolved resetting the algorithm for the icon and now it does not appear on the dashboard.

It was such a nice day today, I took Joan to Citadela park and a long cruise through half of the park. being a weekday, there were not many people walking around. We spent about an hour and a half looking at the scenery of trees and some flowers. I did take about 40 pictures for this blog post. 

Dziś w aucie mamy komplet 4 całorocznych opon Goodyear. Rozmiar to 175/55 z felgą 14". Całkowity koszt wyniósł 1.440 zł($304) w tym wyważenie i montaż. Dokonanie zmiany zajęło im zaledwie 1/2 godziny. Jednak nadal miałem małą żółtą ikonkę ostrzegającą mnie o niskim ciśnieniu w oponach. Jak już mówiłem, używaliśmy opon całorocznych przez lata w USA i nie żałowaliśmy, że użyliśmy ich tutaj. Tak, to było dużo pieniędzy, ale biorąc pod uwagę, że kosztowałoby mnie to prawie dwa razy więcej, aby kupić zestaw opon zimowych plus zestaw opon letnich, myślę, że podjąłem właściwą decyzję.

Co do żółtego znaku ostrzegawczego, to w końcu rozwiązałem, jak ustawić ponownie ikonę i teraz światełko nie zapala się na desce rozdzielczej.

Dzisiaj był taki ładny dzień , że wziąłem Joan do parku Citadela i długi spacer przez połowę parku. A jako, ze był to  dzień powszedni, nie było wiele specerujacych  ludzi . The gardens.

 A warm day today, 65 F, so to break up the monotony of the day, I took Joan for another stroll through the botanical gardens. All of the colored flowers are mostly gone now but the changing colors of leaves on the trees still make it a very pleasant walk. It is very convenient for us to have the gardens so close. We like it very much. Even with the flowers missing, it is still a beautiful place. It's fascinating to see the difference in the trees between spring and late fall. The only thing that matters is that there is sunshine for the walk. It doesn't annoy us that the flowers are gone, that is expected for this time of the year. Usually,  we have more than enough time to walk around the whole park but today we cut it short because I had a Skype meeting with my friend from Bydgoszcz. 

Since the pandemic began, we don't seem to meet as often as before because we both have 24/7 care for someone we love. There are times when a situation prevents the meeting and it seems to happen more often now. Life gets in the way.

Dzisiaj był ciepły dzień , 65 F, więc aby przerwać monotonię dnia, zabrałem Joan na kolejny spacer po ogrodach botanicznych. Wszystkie kolorowe kwiaty w większości już zniknęły, ale zmieniające się kolory liści na drzewach wciąż sprawiają, że jest to bardzo przyjemny spacer. To dla nas bardzo wygodne, że mamy ogrody tak blisko. Bardzo nam się to podoba. Nawet jeśli brakuje kwiatów, to nadal jest to piękne miejsce. To fascynujące widzieć różnicę w drzewach między wiosną a późną jesienią. Ważne jest tylko to, aby w czasie spaceru było słońce. Nie denerwuje nas, że kwiaty zniknęły, tego oczekuje się w tej porze roku. Zazwyczaj mamy więcej niż wystarczająco czasu, aby obejść cały park, ale dzisiaj byliśmy krócej, ponieważ miałem spotkanie na Skype z moją znajomą z Bydgoszczy. 

Odkąd zaczęła się pandemia, nie spotykamy się już tak często jak wcześniej, ponieważ oboje mamy całodobową opiekę nad kimś, kogo kochamy. Są chwile, kiedy sytuacja uniemożliwia spotkanie i wydaje się, że teraz zdarza się to częściej. Życie staje na drodze.

Tires.

A Tuesday meeting with Radek where he made breakfast and then talked about the economy. he told me they are predicting the rate of exchange will go as high as $1=5.3 PLN. Of course, that is good for us but not necessarily for our economy. Later, he told me next week he will be in Naples, for another tango event.

After having a problem with the tire, I decided it was time to buy a new set. However, instead of buying a set for winter and one for summer, I opted to buy all-season tires. Those types of tires are relatively new in Poland and many still believe in having two different sets. In the U.S, we had been using all-season tires for many years. I wanted to buy Michelin tires but they don't make them in my size so I had to settle for Goodyear tires. I know that brand well because, many years ago, I was a Goodyear tires salesman. It was one of the many jobs I had. I also sold Firestone tires at one time.

I went to the Nowax tire store to order the tires and will have them put the car on Thursday morning. Now, I won't have to think about exchanging my tires twice a year.

Wtorkowe spotkanie z Radkiem, gdzie zrobił śniadanie, a potem rozmawiał o gospodarce. powiedział mi, że przewidują, że kurs walut pójdzie aż do 1$=5,3zł. Oczywiście jest to dobre dla nas, ale niekoniecznie dla naszej gospodarki. Później powiedział mi, że w przyszłym tygodniu będzie w Neapolu, na kolejnej imprezie tanga.

Po tym jak miałem problem z oponą, stwierdziłem, że czas kupić nowy komplet. Jednak zamiast kupować zestaw na zimę i jeden na lato, zdecydowałem się na zakup opon całorocznych. Tego typu opony są w Polsce stosunkowo nowe i wielu wciąż wierzy w posiadanie dwóch różnych kompletów. W Stanach Zjednoczonych używaliśmy opon całorocznych przez wiele lat. Chciałem kupić opony Michelin, ale nie produkują ich w moim rozmiarze, więc musiałem zadowolić się oponami Goodyear. Znam dobrze tę markę, ponieważ wiele lat temu byłem sprzedawcą opon Goodyeara. Była to jedna z wielu moich prac. Swego czasu sprzedawałem również opony Firestone.

Pojechałem do sklepu z oponami Nowax, aby zamówić opony i w czwartek rano będę miał je założone do samochodu. Teraz nie będę musiał myśleć o wymianie opon dwa razy w roku.

El martes me reuní con Radek, que me preparó el desayuno y me habló de la economía. Me dijo que se prevé que el tipo de cambio llegue a 1 dólar = 5,3 zlotys. Por supuesto, eso es bueno para nosotros pero no necesariamente para nuestra economía. Más tarde, me dijo que la próxima semana estará en Nápoles, para otro evento de tango.

Después de tener un problema con el neumático, decidí que era el momento de comprar un nuevo juego. Sin embargo, en lugar de comprar un juego para el invierno y otro para el viernes, opté por comprar neumáticos para todas las estaciones. Ese tipo de neumáticos es relativamente nuevo en Polonia y muchos siguen creyendo en tener dos juegos diferentes. En Estados Unidos, llevamos muchos años utilizando neumáticos para todas las estaciones. Quería comprar neumáticos Michelin, pero no los fabrican en mi talla, así que tuve que conformarme con los de Goodyear. Conozco bien esa marca porque, hace muchos años, fui vendedor de neumáticos Goodyear. Fue uno de los muchos trabajos que tuve. También vendí neumáticos Firestone en una época.

Fui a la tienda de neumáticos Nowax para pedir los neumáticos y haré que los pongan en el coche el jueves por la mañana. Ahora, no tendré que pensar en cambiar mis neumáticos dos veces al año.

Unusual day.

Yes, it was. We started off after a breakfast of granola with bananas and tangerines.  Next, we watched a few NFL football game highlights and then the sun came out and it warmed up. Joan hasn't been out of the flat for a few days so I took her to our usual place, Sowas.

On the way there, the yellow light on my dashboard was still telling me low tire pressure but I just filled them up with air yesterday. Our winter tires are stored in Michal and Malgorzata's house in a different location 20 km away.

When we got back in the car and backed up, there was a strange sound coming from the car. Walking around the car, I saw the left front tire was almost flat. It needed to be removed and the spare tire put on. That was a problem for me because the last time I changed a tire was when we lived in the U.S. At that time, cars had bumpers so you raised the car up by them to change a tire. Now, car bumpers, if they have them, are made of plastic and you can only lift the car in the middle part of the car.

I opened the trunk of the car to get out the scissor jack to raise the car. I couldn't find the spot where the jack should be put. It was a big dilemma for me what to do. I asked one man if he could help me but he just kept walking by me like I wasn't even there. I asked another man but he was on his way to pick up his children and had no time. What to do? Then a miraculous thing happened. In the parking in front of us, Strasz Mieksa(municipal guard) pulled up with two personnel in it. Normally, when I think of them is that they are the ones who put yellow metal boots on cars that are parked in the wrong place.

I walked over to them, knocked on their window, and explained my situation. They said they would try and help and they did. They took out the jack, put it where it should be, changed the tire, and were extremely helpful. I wanted to give them something for helping me but they refused it saying it was against the rules of their organization. I have a different opinion of them now.

Tak, było. Zaczęliśmy po śniadaniu od granoli z bananami i mandarynkami.  Następnie obejrzeliśmy kilka najważniejszych meczów futbolowych NFL, a potem wyszło słońce i zrobiło się ciepło. Joanna od kilku dni nie wychodziła z mieszkania, więc zabrałem ją do naszego zwykłego miejsca, Sowas.

Po drodze żółta kontrolka na desce rozdzielczej wciąż informowała mnie o niskim ciśnieniu w oponach, ale dopiero wczoraj napełniłem je powietrzem. Nasze opony zimowe są przechowywane w domu Michała i Małgorzaty w innym miejscu oddalonym o 20 km.

Kiedy wróciliśmy do samochodu i cofnęliśmy, z samochodu dochodził dziwny dźwięk. Obchodząc samochód, zobaczyłem, że lewa przednia opona jest prawie płaska. Trzeba było ją zdjąć i założyć oponę zapasową. Był to dla mnie problem, ponieważ ostatni raz zmieniałem oponę, gdy mieszkaliśmy w USA. W tamtych czasach samochody miały zderzaki, więc aby zmienić oponę, podnosiło się samochód za nie. Teraz zderzaki samochodów, jeśli je mają, są wykonane z plastiku i można podnieść samochód tylko w środkowej części.

Otworzyłem bagażnik samochodu, aby wyciągnąć podnośnik nożycowy do podniesienia samochodu. Nie mogłem znaleźć miejsca, w którym powinien być umieszczony podnośnik. Był to dla mnie duży dylemat co zrobić. Zapytałem jednego mężczyznę, czy mógłby mi pomóc, ale on po prostu przechodził obok mnie, jakby mnie tam w ogóle nie było. Zapytałem innego mężczyznę, ale on był w drodze po swoje dzieci i nie miał czasu. Co robić?

Wtedy stała się cudowna rzecz. Na parking przed nami podjechał Strasz Mieksa z dwoma osobami w środku. Normalnie, gdy myślę o nich, to myślę, że to ci, którzy zakładają żółte metalowe buty na samochody, które są zaparkowane w niewłaściwym miejscu.

Podszedłem do nich, zapukałem w okno i wyjaśniłem swoją sytuację. Powiedzieli, że spróbują pomóc i tak też zrobili. Wyjęli podnośnik, ustawili go tam, gdzie powinien być, zmienili oponę i byli niezwykle pomocni. Chciałem im coś dać za pomoc, ale odmówili mówiąc, że to wbrew zasadom ich organizacji. Teraz mam o nich inne zdanie.

Dinner.

 I had a nice meeting with Joanna today. We talked about her renovation, and some politics and agreed to meet next Saturday. 

Again, Joan and I watched more college football game highlights, and later, for dinner, I made baked salmon, with diced beets, cauliflower, and sweet potatoes.

It was a quiet Sunday.

Miałam dziś miłe spotkanie z Joanną. Rozmawialiśmy o jej remoncie i trochę o polityce i zgodziliśmy się spotkać w następną sobotę. 

Znowu oglądaliśmy z Joanną kolejne mecze futbolu amerykańskiego, a później na kolację zrobiłem pieczonego łososia z pokrojonymi w kostkę burakami, kalafiorem i słodkimi ziemniakami.

To była spokojna niedziela.

 Hoy he tenido una agradable reunión con Joanna. Hablamos de su renovación, y algo de política y acordamos reunirnos el próximo sábado. 

Una vez más, Joan y yo vimos lo más destacado del partido de fútbol universitario, y más tarde, para la cena, hice salmón al horno, con remolacha en cubos, coliflor y batatas.

Fue un domingo tranquilo

To była spokojna niedziela.

Again.

 I did it again. Yesterday I decided not to shop for food because I had enough left from last week for 2 days. Today, I set my alarm for 6:40 to go. However, Joan was making too much noise for me to fall asleep so I went into the second bedroom with my alarm. At 6:40 it sounded, I heard it and thought I would wait a few minutes before I got out of bed. Well, the few minutes ended up with me getting up at 9:30. I don't shop during the day when there are many people in the store so I didn't go today. Tomorrow, when the alarm sounds, I will get up and go. I dislike it when that happens.

After breakfast, we watched PBS for the news of the war and then a college football game. In the afternoon Joan was more confused than what has been normal lately so I stayed by her side until it was time to heat up the German Hunter stew for dinner that we had 2 days ago. The evening was a little better for her but the change has me concerned. 3 times she wasn't sure who I was. I hate dementia. It is taking the love of my life away from me and I can't stop it.                        

Znowu to zrobiłem. Wczoraj postanowiłem nie robić zakupów spożywczych, bo z zeszłego tygodnia zostało mi jedzenia na 2 dni. Dziś ustawiłem sobie alarm na 6:40, żeby pójść na zakupy. Jednak Joan robiła za dużo hałasu w nocy, żebym mógł zasnąć, więc poszedłem  z budzikien. do drugiej sypialni. O 6:40 zabrzmiał, usłyszałem go i pomyślałem, że poczekam kilka minut zanim wstanę z łóżka. Cóż, te kilka minut skończyło się tym, że wstałem o 9:30. Nie robię zakupów w ciągu dnia, kiedy w sklepie jest dużo ludzi, więc dzisiaj nie poszedłem. Jutro, gdy zadzwoni budzik, wstanę i pójdę. Nie lubię, gdy tak się dzieje.

Po śniadaniu oglądaliśmy na PBS wiadomości o wojnie, a potem mecz piłki nożnej w college'u. Po południu Joan była bardziej zdezorientowana niż zwykle, więc zostałem przy niej, do czasu, by podgrzać niemiecki gulasz myśliwski na kolację, którego część jedliśmy 2 dni temu. Wieczór był dla niej trochę lepszy, ale zmiana mnie zaniepokoiła. Trzy razy nie była pewna kim jestem. Nienawidzę demencji. Zabiera mi miłość mojego życia i nie mogę tego zatrzymać.      

Lo he vuelto a hacer. Ayer decidí no comprar comida porque tenía suficiente de la semana pasada para 2 días. Hoy, puse mi alarma a las 6:40 para ir. Sin embargo, Joan hacía demasiado ruido para que me durmiera, así que me fui al segundo dormitorio con la alarma. A las 6:40 sonó, la escuché y pensé en esperar unos minutos antes de salir de la cama. Bueno, los pocos minutos terminaron por levantarme a las 9:30. No compro durante el día cuando hay mucha gente en la tienda así que hoy no he ido. Mañana, cuando suene el despertador, me levantaré y me iré. No me gusta cuando eso sucede.

Después de desayunar, vimos en la PBS las noticias de la guerra y luego un partido de fútbol universitario. Por la tarde Joan estaba más confusa de lo que ha sido normal últimamente, así que me quedé a su lado hasta que llegó la hora de calentar el guiso alemán de Hunter para la cena que comimos hace 2 días. La noche fue un poco mejor para ella pero el cambio me tiene preocupado. 3 veces no estaba segura de quién era yo. Odio la demencia. Me está quitando el amor de mi vida y no puedo evitarlo. 

War and Nov. 1st

It still goes on. Almost 7 months and still the "great" army of Russia had not defeated Ukraine. Overwhelmed by numbers yet Ukrainians fight on and recapture parts of their country. Both sides are supported by foreign countries that use this war to test new military equipment and weapons. It is a question of good vs. evil depending on which side you are on. There should be no doubt as to who are the evil ones. Russia's continued bombing of civilian targets, housing, schools, and barbarous massacre of civilians leaves no doubt they are the evil ones. The United States and Great Britain have failed miserably to keep their promise of protection to Ukraine. Of course, they supply a huge amount of weaponry to Ukraine, especially the U.S. However, it has not done enough to stop the carnage. But, enough about that.

The caregiver came today for 3 hours and I had time to go to the bank, Apteka, and store and even take a little walk in a cemetery. It was the cemetery close to where we first lived in Poznan 15 years ago. It has a lot of old trees that are very beautiful this time of year. There were some people there already preparing the gravesites for November 1st. It was mainly raking leaves and washing the headstones or monuments. It is a little early to put the hundreds of flowers and candles that will appear for that special day in Poland. I really regret not being able to go to Golina as I have for the past 13 years. Only the pandemic has stopped me from going.

Obie strony są wspierane przez zagraniczne kraje, które wykorzystują tę wojnę do testowania nowego sprzętu wojskowego i broni. Jest to kwestia dobra i zła, w zależności od tego, po której stronie się stoi. Nie powinno być wątpliwości co do tego, kto jest tym złym. Ciągłe bombardowanie przez Rosję celów cywilnych, mieszkań, szkół i barbarzyńska masakra cywilów nie pozostawiają wątpliwości, że to oni są tymi złymi. Stany Zjednoczone i Wielka Brytania żałośnie nie dotrzymały swojej obietnicy ochrony Ukrainy. Oczywiście, dostarczają Ukrainie ogromną ilość broni, zwłaszcza USA, jednak nie zrobiły wystarczająco dużo, aby powstrzymać rzeź. Ale, dość o tym.

Opiekunka przyszła dzisiaj na 3 godziny i miałem czas, żeby pójść do banku, apteki i sklepu, a nawet zrobić sobie mały spacer po cmentarzu. Był to cmentarz blisko miejsca, gdzie 15 lat temu po raz pierwszy zamieszkaliśmy w Poznaniu. Ma on wiele starych drzew, które o tej porze roku są bardzo piękne. Było tam kilka osób, które już przygotowywały groby na 1 listopada. Było to głównie grabienie liści i mycie nagrobków lub pomników. Jest jeszcze trochę za wcześnie, aby postawić setki kwiatów i zniczy, które pojawią się na ten wyjątkowy dzień w Polsce. Bardzo żałuję, że nie mogę pojechać do Goliny tak jak przez ostatnie 13 lat. Tylko pandemia powstrzymała mnie przed wyjazdem.

I tried a new recipe tonight, German Hunter's Stew It had 1 lb cabbage, 1 lb hamburger, onion, 3 cups of water and beef bouillion, 1 lb potatoes, salt & pepper, and 1 lb kielbasa,  It's enough for 3 dinners but I gave some away to a friend to try and tell me what she thinks about it. Joan and I liked it.

Italia

Radek returned from Italy with nice pictures and stories of his trip. It was for tango that he went, only on a vacation. He and a friend of his rented a car in Puglia and spent a week visiting little villages in the heel of the boot of Italy. His friend is the representative for the American spice company McCormack. His friend had a contact in that area and was able to arrange tours of vineyards. He said he learned a lot about different types of wine and how climate change was affecting their business. It was interesting hearing about it.

In the afternoon, I made an appointment to show my cholesterol test results to our GP tomorrow at 11:00. I think they are good but I just want to make sure.

We just finished watching a limited serial on Netflix that was interesting. It was called Scandal.

Radek wrócił z Włoch z ładnymi zdjęciami i opowieściami o swojej podróży. To właśnie dla tanga pojechał, tyle że na wakacje. Wraz ze swoim przyjacielem wynajął samochód w Apulii i spędził tydzień na zwiedzaniu małych wiosek położonych na obcasie buta Włoch. Jego przyjaciel jest przedstawicielem amerykańskiej firmy przyprawowej McCormack. Jego przyjaciel miał kontakt w tamtym rejonie i był w stanie zorganizować wycieczki po winnicach. Radek volvió de Italia con bonitas fotos e historias de su viaje. Fue por el tango, sólo de vacaciones. Él y un amigo suyo alquilaron un coche en Puglia y pasaron una semana visitando pueblecitos en el talón de la bota de Italia. Su amigo es el representante de la empresa americana de especias McCormack. Su amigo tenía un contacto en esa zona y pudo organizar visitas a viñedos. Dijo que había aprendido mucho sobre los diferentes tipos de vino y cómo el cambio climático afectaba a su negocio. Fue interesante oírlo.

Por la tarde, concerté una cita para mostrar los resultados de mi prueba de colesterol a nuestro médico de cabecera mañana a las 11:00. Creo que son buenos pero quiero asegurarme.

Acabamos de terminar de ver una serie limitada en Netflix que era interesante. Se llamaba Scandal.

That is what this time of year is called, Golden Autumn. The predominant tree colors are yellow, orange and a little red. On some of the streets with endless rows of orange and yellow, they do seem like golden streets. I took Joan out for a little ride on this 73 F day. Not too far because of the price of gasolene per liter, 6.89. 

Back at home we watched the NFL highlight videos from yesterdays games and I even had a little nap afterward. I slep fairly well last night but by 14:00(2 PM) I just gave in to sleep in the chair. Joan was watcching a movie and by the time it ended, my nap was over.

We watched the PBS news about the war and the barbarous attacks still continue. When are those anti-missile defense systems going to arrive and why hasn't Israel given their Iron Dome defense system to Ukraine? How many dead Ukrainians does it take before the world leaders put a stop to Putin and his thugs?

Tak właśnie nazywa się ta pora roku - Złota Jesień. Dominujące kolory drzew to żółty, pomarańczowy i trochę czerwonego. Na niektórych ulicach z niekończącymi się rzędami pomarańczowych i żółtych, wydają się one złotymi ulicami. Wziąłem Joan na małą przejażdżkę w ten 73 F dzień. Nie za daleko z powodu ceny benzyny za litr, 6,89.

En algunas de las calles con interminables filas de naranja y amarillo, parecen calles doradas. Llevé a Joan a dar un pequeño paseo en este día de 73 F. De vuelta a casa vimos los vídeos de los partidos de la NFL de ayer e incluso me eché una pequeña siesta después. Anoche dormí bastante bien pero a las 14:00 (2 PM) me rendí a dormir en la silla. Joan estaba viendo una película y para cuando terminó, mi siesta había terminado.

Vimos las noticias de la PBS sobre la guerra y los bárbaros ataques continúan. ¿Cuándo van a llegar esos sistemas de defensa antimisiles y por qué Israel no ha dado su sistema de defensa Cúpula de Hierro a Ucrania? ¿Cuántos ucranianos muertos hacen falta para que los líderes mundiales pongan freno a Putin y sus matones?

writing now...you may see this from time to time when the midnight deadline for writing a blog. The blog platform I use has that deadline and sometimes I just don't get it done before that time. I try to do it every day but sometimes I miss the deadline.

I haven't talked with Carmelo from Spain in almost a month for various reasons. After our time today was coming to a close, he told me he heard an improvement in my use of Spanish and that was nice to hear. I just need more conversations.  I haven't had any letdowns in my quest to learn the language. Studying every day helps but only through conversation will I improve. I do have another person helping me with that who lives in Madrid. We are talking 3-4 times per week. Now if I just had the same in Polish.

It was another good autumn weather today so I wanted to take Joan out for a while. However, it wasn't easy because there was a marathon run in Poznan today and many streets were blocked along the route the runners used. My friend, Michal, ran in the marathon, running 47 kilometers in 4 hours and 51 minutes.

Joan had a nice Skype conversation with her daughter at 5 PM and I talked with Carmelo at 3 PM.

Potrzebuję tylko więcej konwersacji.  Nie miałem żadnych problemów w moim dążeniu do nauki języka. Codzienna nauka pomaga, ale tylko poprzez rozmowy mogę się poprawić. Pomaga mi w tym inna osoba, która mieszka w Madrycie. Rozmawiamy 3-4 razy w tygodniu. Teraz gdybym tylko miał to samo po polsku.

Dzisiaj była kolejna dobra jesienna pogoda, więc chciałem wyciągnąć Joan na chwilę. Nie było to jednak łatwe, bo w Poznaniu odbywał się dziś bieg maratoński i wiele ulic było zablokowanych wzdłuż trasy, którą biegli. W maratonie biegł mój przyjaciel, Michał, który przebiegł 47 kilometrów w 4 godziny i 51 minut.

escribiendo ahora... es posible que veas esto de vez en cuando cuando la fecha límite de medianoche para escribir un blog. La plataforma de blogs que utilizo tiene esa fecha límite y a veces no consigo hacerlo antes de esa hora. Intento hacerlo todos los días pero a veces se me pasa el plazo.

No he hablado con Carmelo de España en casi un mes por varias razones. Después de que nuestro tiempo hoy estaba llegando a su fin, me dijo que escuchó una mejora en mi uso del español y eso fue agradable de escuchar. Sólo necesito más conversaciones.  No he tenido ninguna decepción en mi intento de aprender el idioma. Estudiar todos los días ayuda, pero sólo a través de la conversación voy a mejorar. Tengo otra persona que me ayuda con eso que vive en Madrid. Hablamos 3-4 veces por semana. Ahora si tuviera lo mismo en polaco.

Hoy ha hecho otro buen tiempo otoñal así que he querido sacar a Joan un rato. Sin embargo, no era fácil porque hoy había una maratón en Poznan y muchas calles estaban bloqueadas a lo largo de la ruta que utilizaban los corredores. Mi amigo Michal participó en el maratón, corriendo 47 kilómetros en 4 horas y 51 minutos.

Joan tuvo una agradable conversación por Skype con su hija a las 17 horas y yo hablé con Carmelo a las 15 horas.

 Only 4 hours of sleep last night made it a rough day today for me. I made lasagna for dinner and it seemed to take a long time to complete it all. I had to make my own marinara sauce so that took more time. However, the end product was good and enough for at least 2 days of dinners.

We went nowhere because I was too tired to push Joan around in her wheelchair. We watched a few football highlights, listened to and watched some music videos, then Joan watched the old serial, "Cheers", while I prepared the lasagna. Maybe tomorrow we will go outside if the weather is good enough.

Oct 15 (Reuters) - At least 11 people were killed and 15 more wounded at a Russian military training ground on Saturday when two attackers opened fire on a group of volunteers who wished to fight in Ukraine, RIA news agency said.

The deadly incident is just the latest in a series of high-profile setbacks for Moscow's forces since the Feb. 24 invasion.

RIA, citing the defense ministry, said the two assailants had been shot dead after the attack in the southwestern Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine. It said they were nationals from a former Soviet republic but did not give any details.

 Tylko 4 godziny snu ostatniej nocy sprawiły, że dziś był to dla mnie ciężki dzień. Zrobiłem lasagna dla obiadu i to wydawało się wziąć długi czas by uzupełnić to wszystko. Musiałam zrobić własny sos marinara, więc zajęło to więcej czasu. Jednak produkt końcowy był dobry i wystarczył na co najmniej 2 dni obiadów.

That's the most I have ever spent on 1 week of food, 250 PLN($50). I had to buy 1 kg of beef for lasagna and beef stew, which was 60 PLN. A month ago I paid 50 PLN. That was only for 5 days of food because I have leftover zurek and beetroot soup for 2 dinners this week. Between gas prices and food prices, it's costing more and more to live. 

We watched an interesting movie, "Downsizing". It's about how the scientific community discovered how to shrink people to relieve the population strain on the planet and their climatic impact on the planet. Obviously, it was a fictional movie with Matt Damon.

I called Inea about the bill they sent me and had the problem resolved, Evidently, when I called to have our service transferred to the new flat, the service representative didn't cancel our contract at the old address so this month we were billed for both addresses. The lady I spoke with she would have the old bill canceled and what I had already paid this month was enough.

KYIV/KUPIANSK, Ukraine, Oct 13 (Reuters) - The Russian-installed governor of Ukraine's southern Kherson region proposed residents take their children and leave for safety, in one of the starkest signs yet that Moscow is losing its grip on territory it claims to have annexed.

Russia's TASS news agency reported the first group of civilians fleeing from Kherson was expected to arrive in Russia's Rostov region as soon as Friday.

"Every day, the cities of Kherson region are subjected to missile attacks," Russian-installed Kherson administration chief Vladimir Saldo said in a video message.

To najwięcej ile kiedykolwiek wydałam na 1 tydzień jedzenia, 250 zł(50$). Musiałam kupić 1 kg wołowiny na lasagne i gulasz wołowy, co wyniosło 60 zł. Miesiąc temu zapłaciłem 50 zł. Hace un mes pagué 50 PLN. Eso fue sólo para 5 días de comida, porque tengo sobras de zurek y sopa de remolacha para 2 cenas esta semana. Calendar

I can't believe I slept until 11:30 today but I did. It felt good but doesn't make up for all the time lost.

I had a notification in our mailbox that I had something to pick up at the local post office so, after breakfast of granola and fruit, we went there. I thought it was the digital calendar/date clock I ordered for Joan but it turned out to be the new 2023 picture calendar I had made for us and 1 for Karen. I like these calendars. Each month, there are pictures that I download to the app that makes the calendar. It's a way to keep Joan remembering the different people I put on each month's page. It's also good because there is enough space on each day to write what I/we will do on that day. I made 1 for this year and Joan and Karen both liked it.

There was a meeting of 50 countries pledging to continue military support to Ukraine. Now the focus is on air defense systems. The attack of more than 100 missiles killing civilians in different major cities in Ukraine has prompted the response. The missiles have mostly targeted civilian electricity and heating infrastructure, while some hit busy roads, parks, and tourist sites, including in the center of Kyiv.

Nie mogę uwierzyć, że dzisiaj spałem do 11:30, ale tak było. To było dobre, ale nie rekompensuje całego straconego czasu.

Tenía una notificación en nuestro buzón de que tenía algo que recoger en la oficina de correos local, así que después de un desayuno de granola y fruta, fuimos allí. Pensé que era el calendario/reloj digital que había encargado para Joan, pero resultó ser un nuevo calendario de fotos para 2023 que había hecho para nosotros y 1 para Karen. Me gustan estos calendarios. Cada mes hay fotos que descargo en la app que hace el calendario. Es una forma de que Joan recuerde a las diferentes personas que pongo en la página cada mes. También es bueno porque hay suficiente espacio en cada día para escribir lo que voy/vamos a hacer ese día. Hice 1 para este año y a Joan y Karen les gustó.

Hubo una reunión de 50 países que se comprometieron a seguir apoyando militarmente a Ucrania. La atención se centra ahora en los sistemas de defensa aérea. OPEC

Thanks to OPEC, gas prices are on the rise again. My gas gauge in the car showed the tank was half empty so I thought I would fill it up because tomorrow the prices will be even higher. Now it is 6.83 PLN per liter, not a gallon. After I was done, the gauge did not move.  Something was wrong but I didn't know what. I went back to the same gas pump I was at before to see if gas really went into the tank and it did. The conclusion was I think the float in the tank is not functioning so I have an appointment at the repair shop to see if they can fix it. I can't drive my car not knowing for sure how much gas is in it.

Meanwhile, since the blowing up of the bridge connecting Russia with Crimea, Putin had 84 missiles launched at major cities in Ukraine.

KYIV, Oct 11 (Reuters) - President Volodymyr Zelensky was asking the leaders of the G7 group of nations to urgently supply Ukraine with air defense weapons on Tuesday after Russia rained down cruise missiles on cities across the country in a new escalation of the war.

More missile strikes killed at least one person in the southeastern town of Zaporizhzhia and left part of the Western city of Lviv without power, local officials said. Air raid sirens earlier wailed across Ukraine for a second day.

Other parts of the country remained blacked out after the cruise missile attacks on Monday which officials said killed 19 people in the biggest air raids since the start of the conflict.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, under domestic pressure to ramp up the seven-month-old war as his forces have lost ground since early September, said he ordered the strikes as revenge for an explosion that damaged Russia's bridge to annexed Crimea.

Dzięki OPEC ceny gazu znowu rosną. Mój gazomierz w samochodzie pokazywał, że zbiornik jest do połowy pusty, więc pomyślałem, że zatankuję, bo jutro ceny będą jeszcze wyższe. Tymczasem od czasu wysadzenia mostu łączącego Rosję z Krymem, Putin wystrzelił 84 rakiety na główne miasta Ukrainy.

Visitors

A morning anticipating a visit from our friends, Marcin and Dorota with their son, Maciek. I used to help him with his English when he was younger. Now he is 26.  Of course, I had to go to Sowa's and buy ciasto to serve them with coffee.

They arrived at 16:00(4 PM) and we visited for about an hour and a half before they had to leave to take their son to the train back to Warsaw. We spent some time talking about the danger of nuclear war and what to do if it happens. We agreed we could do nothing about it. Dorota brought 2 large jars of homemade soup. Zurek and Borsch. Tonight we will have the Zurek, my favorite.

Poranek w oczekiwaniu na wizytę naszych przyjaciół, Marcina i Doroty z synem Maćkiem. Pomagałem mu w angielskim, gdy był młodszy. Teraz ma 26 lat.  Oczywiście musiałem pójść do Sowy i kupić ciasto, żeby podać im kawę.

Przyjechali o 16:00 (4 PM) i odwiedziliśmy ich przez około półtorej godziny, zanim musieli wyjść, aby zabrać syna na pociąg do Warszawy. Spędziliśmy trochę czasu rozmawiając o niebezpieczeństwie wojny nuklearnej i o tym, co należy zrobić, jeśli do niej dojdzie. Zgodziliśmy się, że nie możemy nic zrobić w tej sprawie. Dorota przyniosła 2 duże słoiki z domową zupą. Żurek i Barszcz. Dziś wieczorem zjemy żurek, mój ulubiony.

Llegaron a las 16:00 (4 de la tarde) y estuvimos visitando durante una hora y media antes de que tuvieran que irse para llevar a su hijo al tren de vuelta a Varsovia. Pasamos un rato hablando del peligro de la guerra nuclear y de lo que hay que hacer si ocurre. Acordamos que no podíamos hacer nada al respecto. Dorota trajo dos botes grandes de sopa casera. The U.P.

Every autumn I think of that bridge I used to cross going home to the house I built in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan or as we call it, the U.P. The colors are so spectacular. We have some colors here now but nothing to compare with the U.P. I should enlarge that picture and put it on a wall here.

WARSAW, Sept 22 (Reuters) - Poland, concerned about fighting around Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, has distributed iodine tablets to regional fire departments to give to people in the event of radioactive exposure, a deputy minister said on Thursday.

Iodine is considered a way of protecting the body against conditions such as thyroid cancer in case of radioactive exposure.

Shelling at the site of Zaporizhzhia - Europe's biggest nuclear power plant - has damaged buildings close to its six reactors and cut power cables, risking a nuclear catastrophe that would affect neighboring countries. Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the shelling around the plant.

VARSOVIA, 22 de septiembre (Reuters) - Polonia, preocupada por los enfrentamientos en torno a la central nuclear ucraniana de Zaporizhzhia, ha distribuido pastillas de yodo a los departamentos de bomberos regionales para que las administren a la población en caso de exposición radiactiva, según dijo el jueves un viceministro.

El yodo se considera una forma de proteger el organismo contra afecciones como el cáncer de tiroides en caso de exposición radiactiva.

Los bombardeos en el emplazamiento de Zaporizhzhia -la mayor central nuclear de Europa- han dañado los edificios cercanos a sus seis reactores y han cortado los cables eléctricos, con el riesgo de que se produzca una catástrofe nuclear que afecte a los países vecinos. Rusia y Ucrania se culpan mutuamente de los bombardeos en torno a la central.

Haircuts & Rynek

 Started the morning with a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast because it was easy to make. Then we had to leave for our hair appointments at 11:00 so we left early because getting close to the Rynek where our salon is is not easy. The streets leading to it have been torn up since the beginning of the year and the Rynek itself is going under a major renovation. It is a MESS.

While Joan was getting her hair cut, I took my camera and made the pictures for today's blog. God only knows if they will have it done by next Spring. At least they have added temporary sidewalks into the various restaurants there but I can imagine the renovation has taken a toll on the restaurants with the lack of outdoor cafes this year. I noticed 4 of the restaurants closed and new ones are preparing for next year.

At 3:30, we had appointments with our GP to get a form filled out stating Joan's condition and reliability in a wheelchair. It is necessary for the application for a disabled person's parking permit. In the center of town, it is more necessary because of the lack of parking spaces. I also asked him to write a referral to check my cholesterol levels. I have been using Moringa in place of the prescribed medicine to keep my levels normal for the last 2 months and I just want to verify it is working.

Zaczęliśmy rano od szybkiego śniadania jajecznicy i tostów, ponieważ było to łatwe do zrobienia. Następnie musieliśmy wyjechać na nasze spotkania z włosami o 11:00, więc wyszliśmy wcześnie, ponieważ zbliżanie się do Rynku, gdzie znajduje się nasz salon, nie jest łatwe. Ulice prowadzące do niego zostały zburzone od początku roku, a sam Rynek przechodzi gruntowny remont. To jest MESS.

Podczas gdy Joanna się strzygła, ja wzięłam aparat i zrobiłam zdjęcia na dzisiejszego bloga. Bóg jeden wie, czy uda im się to zrobić do wiosny przyszłego roku. Przynajmniej dodali tymczasowe chodniki do różnych restauracji, ale mogę sobie wyobrazić, że renowacja zebrała żniwo na restauracjach z brakiem zewnętrznych kawiarni w tym roku. Zauważyłem, że 4 restauracje zostały zamknięte, a nowe przygotowują się na przyszły rok.

O 3:30 mieliśmy spotkania z naszym lekarzem rodzinnym, aby uzyskać wypełniony formularz stwierdzający stan Joanny i niezawodność na wózku inwalidzkim. Jest on niezbędny do złożenia wniosku o pozwolenie na parkowanie dla osoby niepełnosprawnej. W centrum miasta jest to bardziej konieczne ze względu na brak miejsc parkingowych. Poprosiłam go również o wypisanie skierowania na sprawdzenie poziomu mojego cholesterolu. Od 2 miesięcy stosuję Moringę w miejsce przepisanych leków, aby utrzymać poziom w normie i chcę tylko sprawdzić, czy działa.

Empezamos la mañana con un desayuno rápido de huevos revueltos y tostadas porque era fácil de hacer. Luego tuvimos que irnos a nuestras citas de peluquería a las 11:00, así que salimos temprano porque acercarse al Rynek, donde está nuestro salón, no es fácil. Las calles que conducen a ella están destrozadas desde principios de año y la propia Rynek está siendo objeto de una importante renovación. Es un desastre.

Mientras Joan se cortaba el pelo, cogí mi cámara e hice las fotos para el blog de hoy. Sólo Dios sabe si lo tendrán terminado para la próxima primavera. Por lo menos han añadido aceras temporales en los diversos restaurantes allí, pero puedo imaginar que la renovación ha tenido un peaje en los restaurantes con la falta de cafés al aire libre este año. Me he dado cuenta de que 4 de los restaurantes han cerrado y se están preparando otros nuevos para el año que viene.

A las 3:30 teníamos cita con nuestro médico de cabecera para que nos rellenara un formulario indicando la condición de Joan y su fiabilidad en la silla de ruedas. Es necesario para la solicitud de un permiso de aparcamiento para discapacitados. En el centro de la ciudad, es más necesario por la falta de plazas de aparcamiento. También le pedí que me hiciera una remisión para comprobar mis niveles de colesterol. Llevo dos meses utilizando Moringa en lugar de la medicina prescrita para mantener mis niveles normales y quiero comprobar que funciona.

Solacki park & houses

  At 6:30 this morning when I got out of bed to go food shopping the sky was completely covered in gray. Finally, at about 11:00 the sun broke through and the rest of the day was sunny with a few small clouds. It was a good day to be outside and go somewhere with Joan.

There are some houses still standing that were built with red and yellow bricks and those are my favorite ones to discover. I know a few locations of them so I took Joan to see them and take some pictures. Compared to the "modern" houses and buildings going up nowadays, the old ones have far more character. After I was done taking pictures of them, I thought it was time to visit Solacki park again. A weekday is much better than a weekend because there are far fewer people in the park. Of course, I had to take pictures then but I also made a short video driving through the area. We stayed for about 2 hours and then I had to return home for a Skype conversation with someone in Spain.

Later, I prepared pork cutlets, mashed potatoes, and yellow beans for our dinner.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, a Russian missile demolished an apartment block in a Ukrainian region Moscow says it has annexed, killing at least 3 people as discontent mounted within Russia about the handling of the war by the top brass.

There was no immediate comment from Russia, whose invasion of Ukraine has begun to unravel after a Ukrainian counteroffensive in which thousands of square miles of territory have been retaken since the start of September, including dozens of settlements in recent days.

Thousands of Russian troops have retreated after the front line crumbled, first in the northeast, and, since the beginning of this week, also in the south.

  O 6:30 tego ranka, kiedy wstałem z łóżka, aby pójść na zakupy spożywcze, niebo było całkowicie pokryte szarością. W końcu, około 11:00 słońce przebiło się i reszta dnia była słoneczna z kilkoma małymi chmurami. To był dobry dzień, aby być na zewnątrz i pójść gdzieś z Joan.

Tymczasem na Ukrainie, rosyjski pocisk zburzył blok mieszkalny w ukraińskim regionie, o którym Moskwa mówi, że został zaanektowany, zabijając co najmniej 3 osoby.

Nie było natychmiastowego komentarza ze strony Rosji, której inwazja na Ukrainę zaczęła się rozpadać po ukraińskiej kontrofensywie, w której tysiące mil kwadratowych terytorium zostało odzyskane od początku września, w tym dziesiątki osiedli w ostatnich dniach.

   A las 6:30 de esta mañana, cuando me levanté de la cama para ir a comprar comida, el cielo estaba completamente cubierto de gris. Finalmente, a eso de las 11:00 el sol se abrió paso y el resto del día fue soleado con algunas pequeñas nubes. Era un buen día para estar fuera e ir a algún sitio con Joan.

Hay algunas casas que siguen en pie que fueron construidas con ladrillos rojos y amarillos y esas son mis favoritas para descubrir. Conozco algunas ubicaciones de ellas, así que llevé a Joan a verlas y a hacer algunas fotos. Moss Theft.

Speaking of Autumn, the colors of this season are finally starting to come in view. We are lucky to have a window that faces a variety of them. On the next sunny day, I will take Joan out and take more pictures of them.
