Meetings.

Saturday started out all gray, early morning, but a little sun did appear during the day. It was nice to see. Amazing how it changes peoples attitude. Both, the sun and the gray, easily creep into attitude it seems. Maybe the first year or so here it was the same for me but I learned to think sunshine everyday after that. That is not to say I am not looking forward to our 3 months in Spain but that has more to do with temperature and practicing the language than attitude.

I had two nice conversations earlier. One with a young man who was doing an internship in a financial firm in Warsaw during the summer and the other with a lawyer here in Poznań. I hadn't seen the young man since last June so it was interesting to hear his adventure living in Warsaw, working there, discovering the difference between pubs there and in Poznań and what he is doing now back at university. The lawyer talked about his participation in marathons, we talked about our fathers and only a little about politics.

Joan was home alone most of the day so I took her to Sowa's for coffee and ciasto. She's been busy the last two days house cleaning and I thought she needed a little diversion.

Soon November 1st will be upon us and we will make our annual pilgrimage to Golina to honor my ancestors and relatives in the cemetery. It's one of my most favorite times. It is such a beautiful event.

 Sobota zaczęła się szara, wczesnym rankiem, ale trochę słońca nie pojawiło się w ciągu dnia. Miło było to zobaczyć. Niesamowite, jak zmienia nastawienie ludzi. Wygląda na to, że słońce i szarość są łatwe do skrępowania. Być może byłem dla mnie taki sam. Nauczyłem się codziennie myśleć o słońcu. To nie do powiedzenia. Nie czekam z niecierpliwością na używanie tego języka przez kilka miesięcy.


Miałem dwie miłe rozmowy wcześniej. Jeden z młodym mężczyzną, który odbywał staż w Poznaniu. Nie widziałem tego młodego człowieka odkąd studiował w Warszawie, pracując tam, odkrywając różnicę między pubami. Prawnik mówił o swoim udziale w maratonach, rozmawialiśmy o naszych ojcach, a tylko trochę o polityce.


Joan była sama w domu. Zabrałem ją do Sowy na kawę i ciasto. Przez ostatnie dwa dni była zajęta i myślałem, że potrzebuje trochę rozrywki.


Wkrótce 1 listopada 2009 Golina na cześć moich przodków i pielgrzymki. To jeden z moich najbardziej lubianych razy. To takie piękne wydarzenie.
