Excellent day!

A break from the heat and we both woke up early. Joan made the fruit salad for tonight's dinner while I worked on some Spanish exercises and we were done by 10:00. It was so nice outside I suggested we go out for breakfast and she agreed. We thought first about the rynek but with all the clouds in the sky also thought it might rain at any moment so we decided on Drukarnia, an indoor restaurant. The best way to describe it is that it was an old place for printing copies but is now a restaurant. Joan calls the interior style "Industrial" because there is little on the walls, the floor is concrete and very little in terms of decoration. However, the food is good, they bake their own bread and the service is good.

Joan chose an egg sandwich for breakfast  and I, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, olives, tomatoes and chorizo. An hour later, when we were finished, we walked back to Plac Wolności where are car was parked underground, and went to the cafe in front of Empik for another coffee. So far, I like this place the best for their taste of coffee and it's cheap, 5 PLN for a small cup. We sat for a while in comfortable chairs and then went to Carrefour to search for replacement pots for the kitchen. We have had the old ones for 11 years and they are worn out. The ones Joan liked were out of stock so we will check again on Thursday when we go food shopping.

Cousin Marilyn from Michigan informed me that she and the Dittenber family will be arriving in Berlin, August 17th,  renting a car and then driving to the Slupca area for the wedding of cousin Nora Bekalarek on the 18th.

 Przerwa od upału i oboje obudziliśmy się wcześnie. Joan robiła sałatkę owocową na dzisiejszy obiad, podczas gdy ja pracowałem nad kilkoma ćwiczeniami z hiszpańskiego i skończyliśmy ze wszystkim do godziny 10:00. Na zewnątrz  było tak miło, że zasugerowałem, żebyśmy poszli na śniadanie i Joan zgodziła się. Najpierw myśleliśmy o Rynku, ale było trochę chmur na niebie i myśleliśmy, że deszcz  może spaść w każdej chwili, więc zdecydowaliśmy się na restaurację wewnątrz  Drukarni. Najlepszym sposobem na opisanie tego jest to, że kiedyś  było to miejsce, gdzie  drukowano kopie, a teraz jest restauracja. Joan nazywa styl wnętrza "industrialem", ponieważ na ścianach prawie nic nie ma, podłoga jest betonowa i niewiele  pod względem dekoracji. Jednak jedzenie jest dobre, pieką własny chleb, a obsługa jest dobra.


Na śniadanie Joan wybrała kanapkę z jajkiem, a ja jajecznicę z pomidorami, oliwkami, pomidorami i chorizo. Kiedy skończyliśmy godzinę później,  wróciliśmy na Plac Wolności, gdzie mieliśmy samochód zaparkowany pod ziemią, i pojechaliśmy do kawiarni naprzeciwko Empik na kolejną kawę. Do tej pory lubię to miejsce najlepiej za smak kawy i cenę: 5 zł za mały kubek. Siedzieliśmy przez chwilę w wygodnych fotelach, a potem poszliśmy do Carrefour, by szukać garnki do kuchni. Stare mamy od 11 lat i są zużyte. Te, które Joan lubiła, były niedostępne, więc sprawdzimy ponownie w czwartek, kiedy przyjdziemy na zakupy artykułów spożywczych.

Kuzynka Marilyn z Michigan poinformowała mnie, że ona i rodzina Dittenberów przybędą do Berlina 17 sierpnia, wynajmą samochód, a następnie pojadą do Słupcy na ślub kuzynki Nory Bekalarek 18 sierpnia.
