After I was home for about 3 hours, Gabriela arrived, and it was time for me to go out and take care of a few things.
I went down to our car, put in the key to start it, and the battery barely had enough energy to turn on the lights After the second try, it was dead. That presented some problems..
First, I had no idea where the nearest auto parts store was.
Second, I had no way to get there, and even if I did. I couldn't leave Joan home alone.
Third, my friend, Radek, was in Mongolia and I couldn't call him for help.
Instead, I called my friend, Marcin, who had helped me in times past. He didn't answer so I called his wife, Dorota, to see where Marcin was. She said he would be home in one hour. I told her about my problem, and she said she would relay it to him when he arrived home.
About an hour later he called. I talked with him and he said he would call me back.
In minutes, he called and said he had arranged with a firm to have someone come to our car with a new battery.
In half an hour, a young man arrived with a new battery, installed it, checked to ensure the alternator was working properly, removed the old battery, and departed. The total cost was 350 PLN($95)
It's good to have friends.
