We received an email from immigration that Joan's card was here now so we went at 3PM to pick it up. I called first and the person who answered the phone to pick it up at the front desk. When we got there, 14 people were waiting in line which meant a long wait for us. Instead of waiting I called the young lady who handled Joan's case and she came out to meet us, said we should go to the front desk but when she saw the long line she told us to go across the hallway, enter behind the closed door and wait there. In 2 minutes she came out with the card, Joan signed the receipt for it and we were done. This is one example how the younger workers are more understanding than 7 years ago when we first arrived. At that time they just would have said wait in line and that would have been the end of it.
The new card is similar to mine with a few slight changes to it. It's the same size and color of mine, has the same information and still uses her old Pesel number. I would post a picture of it here but I don't think that is a good idea. In today's world of hackers, I think it could be copied, changed and used by someone else.
So now that we have the new card we can return to the bank and proceed with our application to NFZ. I received confirmation today for the Polish post office that the forms we filled out were received by the embassy in Warsaw. Now it's only a question of when they will be received in the U.S. and the changes made.
Tomorrow Joan and I celebrate our 26th, official wedding anniversary although we have been together 39 years. It took us 13 years to agree to being "officially" married. Our first marriages ended in not the best way so we were a little hesitant to make a commitment again but finally we did.
Otrzymali艣my maila z biura imigracyjnego, 偶e karta sta艂ego pobytu dla Joan jest ju偶 u nich, wi臋c poszli艣my o godzinie pi臋tnastej, aby j膮 odebra膰. Jednak wcze艣niej zadzwoni艂em i osoba, kt贸ra odebra艂a telefon powiedzia艂a, 偶eby kart臋 odebra膰 w recepcji. Kiedy tam dotarli艣my, 14 os贸b sta艂o w kolejce, co dla nas oznacza艂o d艂ugie czekanie. Zamiast czeka膰, zadzwoni艂em do m艂odej damy, kt贸ra zajmuje si臋 sprawami Joan. Wysz艂a na spotkanie z nami i powiedzia艂a, 偶e powinni艣my i艣膰 do recepcji, ale gdy zobaczy艂a d艂ug膮 kolejk臋, powiedzia艂a nam, 偶eby przej艣膰 przez korytarz i przez zamkni臋te drzwiami i czeka膰 tam. Po 2 minutach wysz艂a z kart膮, Joan podpisa艂a pokwitowanie i byli艣my za艂atwieni. Jest to jeden z przyk艂ad贸w, 偶e m艂odsi pracownicy s膮 bardziej wyrozumiali ni偶 7 lat temu, kiedy pierwszy raz przyjechali艣my. W tamtym czasie po prostu kto艣 powiedzia艂by, 偶eby czeka膰 w kolejce i koniec.
W dzisiejszym 艣wiecie haker贸w, my艣l臋, 偶e to mo偶e by膰 kopiowane, zmieniane i u偶ywane przez kogo艣 innego.
Wi臋c teraz, kiedy mamy now膮 kart臋 mo偶emy wr贸ci膰 do banku, a nast臋pnie zrobi膰 wniosek do NFZ.
Dzisiaj otrzyma艂em potwierdzenie z Poczty Polskiej, 偶e wype艂nione formularze zosta艂y odebrane przez ambasad臋 w Warszawie. Teraz to tylko kwestia, kiedy zostan膮 odebrane w USA, i zmiany zostan膮 dokonane.
Jutro Joan i ja 艣wi臋tujemy nasz膮 26, oficjaln膮 rocznic臋 艣lubu mimo, 偶e jeste艣my razem 39 lat. Zaj臋艂o nam 13 lat, aby zgodzi膰 si臋 na „oficjalne” bycie ma艂偶e艅stwem. Nasze pierwsze ma艂偶e艅stwa sko艅czy艂y si臋 w nie najlepszy spos贸b, wi臋c byli艣my troch臋 niezdecydowani ponownie si臋 zobowi膮za膰 , ale w ko艅cu zrobili艣my to.
