7 years.

After an early Skype conversation this morning I had my weekly Polish lesson and then at 1:30PM Joan and I went to NFZ and talked with the young lady about what we had to do in order to once again have health insurance. First we have to notify the U.S. to directly deposit our pension into our account here, then we have to set up at our bank an account to receive the money, then they have to notify ZUS we have an account, then we have to check with ZUS that all is correct. Once that is done we will have individual policies with NFZ. The forms for the U.S. can only be mailed in so we will send the priority mail to expedite it.

When we were done talking with the lady we walked to the rynek and sat for two hours watching people going by. We talked about our last seven years living in Poland and even after this latest fiasco we agreed it has been a good life for us and we are happy with our decision to move here. Even with the formidable barier of language for Joan, she still likes living here. During our life together, 39 years, we've seen many places in the U.S. but from Poland each country is so different because of culture, history, language and people, it is more exciting now. Only God knows what the future holds in store for us but whatever it is, it's been a great 7 years.

The weather is warming up again and it will be 34c on Sunday with clear skies. We're going to take advantage of it and visit with cousin Cecylia but first I have to call her and tell her we will be coming. This next Thursday, the 7th, we will finally have the opportunity to meet with Anna Dan, a Polish lady living in Florida and a reader of this blog. We have been corresponding through emails for over two years and she is flying into Poznań on that day. We will meet her at the airport and spend the evening with her. It's really amazing how many readers I have corresponded with over the years and the help or advice they have given me on different subjects.

Po wczesnej, porannej rozmowie na skypie miałem co tygodniową lekcję polskiego, a potem o 13:30 Joan i ja poszliśmy do NFZ i rozmawialiśmy z młodą kobietą o to, co musielibyśmy zrobić, aby znowu mieć ubezpieczenie zdrowotne. Najpierw musimy powiadomić USA, by przesyłali nasze emerytury bezpośrednio  na nasze konto tutaj, następnie musimy ustawić konto w naszym banku, aby otrzymać pieniądze, oni  muszą powiadomić ZUS, że mamy konto, na koniec musimy sprawdzić w ZUS, że wszystko jest e porządku. Gdy to będzie zrobione, będziemy mieć indywidualną polisę w NFZ. Formularze do USA mogą być wysłane jedynie przez pocztę,  tak że  wyślemy list priorytetowy, aby  przyspieszyć.

Gdy skończyliśmy rozmawiać z panią poszliśmy na Rynek i siedzieliśmy przez dwie godziny oglądając przechodzących przez niego ludzi. Rozmawialiśmy o naszych ostatnich siedmiu latach zamieszkania w Polsce, a nawet po tym ostatnim fiasku zgodziliśmy się, że to było dobre życie dla nas i jesteśmy zadowoleni z naszej decyzji o przeprowadzce tutaj. Nawet z potężną barierą języka dla Joanny, ona wciąż lubi tu mieszkać. Podczas naszego wspólnego życia przez 39 lat, widziałem wiele miejsc w USA, ale do Polski -  każdy kraj jest tak różny pod względem kultury, historii, języka i ludzi, to jest teraz bardziej ekscytujące. Tylko Bóg wie, co przyszłość trzyma dla nas w zanadrzu, ale cokolwiek to jest, to jest wspaniałe 7 lat.

Pogoda ponownie się poprawia i będzie  34C w niedzielę z czystym niebem. Mamy zamiar z niej skorzystać i odwiedzić  kuzynkę Cecylię ale najpierw muszę zadzwonić do niej i powiedzieć jej, że przyjedziemy. W najbliższy czwartek, 7 sierpnia, będziemy w końcu mieli okazję spotkać się z Anną Dan, polką żyjącą na Florydzie i czytelniczką tego bloga. Od ponad dwóch lat wymienialiśmy emaile i właśnie w czwartek ona przyleci do Poznania. Spotkamy ją na lotnisku i spędzimy z nią wieczór. To naprawdę niesamowite, z jak wieloma czytelnikami korespondowałem na przestrzeni lat i ile pomocy lub porad dali mi na różne tematy.
