Nov. 11.

In 4 days we celebrate National Independence Day.  It is a national day in Poland celebrated on 11 November to commemorate the anniversary of the restoration of Poland's sovereignty as the Second Polish Republic in 1918, after 123 years of partition by Russia, Prussia and the Hapsburg Empire. It is a non-working day in Poland. In 1989–1991, Poland engaged in a democratic transition which put an end to the People's Republic of Poland and led to the foundation of a democratic government, known as the Third Polish Republic (following the First and Second Polish Republics.

Of course, all major cities/towns of Poland were devastated by WWII. I found and posted a collection of Poznań photographs that show the destruction and what that same place looks like today.

On the bright side, it's also the day of Rogala Marcińskiego, that wonderful pastry of Poznań. It's the day when tons of it will be sold in sweet shops, bakeries, on street corners and just about everywhere you go.
