Jezyce Market

It was a cool yesterday, 75 F, and after a peach smoothie breakfast, I took Joan to the Jezyce outdoor market so we could but the larger potatoes. It's always nice to shop at a street market for fruits and vegetables.It helps support the local farmers most of the time. 

It was too nice outside to go home so we went to the fountain in front of the Grand Opera house and sat under the shade of those very old trees. Because most of the university student don't return to Poznan for another month, the green areas didn't have many people sitting or laying there. The flower beds around the pool were in full bloom.

Before we started back to home, I also took her across the street to the little park behind the Zamek.

Meanwhile in Ukraine;

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday, Aug. 27, that the Russian army continues to exert pressure in the Pokrovsk sector of the Donetsk region. They are likely trying to repeat the experience of capturing Bakhmut.

He suggested that Russian forces could suffer as many as 60,000 casualties there. Yet Zelensky emphasized that it is not possible to act based on the principle of “you lose 100,000, and we lose 100,000.”

“The Russians are not retreating there because they are shot at when they go back. It’s like in Bakhmut – they’ll lose 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers there, and you’ll see this soon,” he said.

 Wczoraj było chłodno, 75 F, a po śniadaniu z brzoskwiniowym smoothie zabrałem Joan na targ na Jeżycach, abyśmy mogli kupić większe ziemniaki. Zawsze miło jest robić zakupy na ulicznym targu owoców i warzyw, co pomaga wspierać lokalnych rolników przez większość czasu.

Na zewnątrz było zbyt ładnie, aby wracać do domu, więc poszliśmy do fontanny przed Wielką Operą i usiedliśmy w cieniu tych bardzo starych drzew. Ponieważ większość studentów uniwersytetu nie wraca do Poznania przez kolejny miesiąc, na terenach zielonych nie było zbyt wielu osób siedzących lub leżących. Klomby wokół basenu były w pełnym rozkwicie.

Zanim zaczęliśmy wracać do domu, zabrałem ją również na drugą stronę ulicy do małego parku za Zamkiem.

Tymczasem w Ukrainie;

Prezydent Ukrainy Wołodymyr Zełenski powiedział na konferencji prasowej w Kijowie we wtorek 27 sierpnia, że rosyjska armia nadal wywiera presję w sektorze Pokrowsk w obwodzie donieckim. Prawdopodobnie próbują powtórzyć doświadczenie zdobywania Bachmutu.

Zasugerował, że siły rosyjskie mogą tam ponieść nawet 60 000 ofiar. Jednak Zełenski podkreślił, że nie można działać na zasadzie „wy stracicie 100 000, a my 100 000”.

„Rosjanie nie wycofują się tam, ponieważ są ostrzeliwani, gdy wracają. To tak jak w Bachmucie - stracą tam od 50 do 60 tysięcy żołnierzy i wkrótce się o tym przekonacie” - powiedział.
