Although only some ballots are counted yet, PiS is leading in the votes but still needs to get the required amount of seats to continue leading the government. They must form a coalition with one of the smaller groups to achieve the required 231 votes to stay in power. The main opposing party also does not have enough seats and also needs a coalition to gain control. At this writing, the government control is up for grabs. It will be interesting to see which of the 2 main parties can coerce cooperation in order to win.

If no party gets enough seats to control the Polish Sejm in the first round of voting, the following happens:

1. The President appoints the Prime Minister, who must be a member of the Sejm.

2. The Prime Minister has 30 days to form a government and win a vote of confidence in the Sejm.

3. If the Prime Minister does not win a vote of confidence, the President appoints a new Prime Minister.

4. This process continues until a Prime Minister is able to form a government and win a vote of confidence.

If no Prime Minister is able to form a government and win a vote of confidence after three attempts, the President dissolves the Sejm and calls for new elections.

In practice, this process usually results in the formation of a coalition government. This is because no party in Poland has ever won enough seats to control the Sejm on its own. Coalition governments are formed by two or more parties that agree to work together to form a government.

Jeśli żadna partia nie zdobędzie wystarczającej liczby mandatów, aby kontrolować polski Sejm w pierwszej turze głosowania, dzieje się co następuje:

1. Prezydent powołuje premiera, który musi być członkiem Sejmu.

Jeśli żaden premier nie jest w stanie utworzyć rządu i uzyskać wotum zaufania po trzech próbach, Prezydent rozwiązuje Sejm i rozpisuje nowe wybory.
