 Reuters:: "Poland holds its parliamentary election on Sunday, with the ruling nationalist Law and Justice party, called PiS, seeking an unprecedented third term in power. Critics say the government has politicized the judiciary, used public media as a propaganda tool , and undermined the country's position in the EU. The party says it supports Ukraine in its war against Russia, but not at the expense of Poland’s own interests."

A referendum is scheduled to happen in Poland tomorrow, alongside nationwide elections to the Senate and Sejm.

Four questions have been announced by members of the government from 11 to 14 August. Voters will be asked whether they approve of the privatization of state-owned enterprises, increase in the retirement age, admission of immigrants under the EU relocation mechanism, and the barrier on Poland's border with Belarus.

Proposed questions have been criticized by opposition parties and commentators as purportedly aimed at the opposition leader and former Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The ruling Law and Justice party has been accused of inciting anti-immigrant sentiment to boost turnout among its voters on election day. The law has been changed shortly before the announcement of the referendum to allow it to be held on the same day as the parliamentary election. Two of the four questions (the first and last) were also phrased as leading or loaded.

Referendum odbędzie się w Polsce jutro, wraz z ogólnokrajowymi wyborami do Senatu i Sejmu.

Cztery pytania zostały ogłoszone przez członków rządu od 11 do 14 sierpnia. Wyborcy zostaną zapytani, czy popierają prywatyzację przedsiębiorstw państwowych, podwyższenie wieku emerytalnego, przyjmowanie imigrantów w ramach unijnego mechanizmu relokacji oraz szlaban na granicy Polski z Białorusią.

Proponowane pytania zostały skrytykowane przez partie opozycyjne i komentatorów jako rzekomo wymierzone w lidera opozycji i byłego premiera Donalda Tuska. Rządząca partia Prawo i Sprawiedliwość została oskarżona o podsycanie nastrojów antyimigranckich w celu zwiększenia frekwencji wśród swoich wyborców w dniu wyborów. Prawo zostało zmienione na krótko przed ogłoszeniem referendum, aby umożliwić jego przeprowadzenie w tym samym dniu co wybory parlamentarne.
