Demolition.

When we first arrived here 17 years ago, Galeria Malta was the main shopping center. Now it is in ruins, The major demolition of it is underway. Recently, you could do great shopping there, now there are only empty areas left. It has been surpassed by the latest huge shopping center, Poznania, less than a mile away. 

Galeria Malta has been undergoing the demolition process for some time. Heavy equipment and machinery destroy the structure of a multi-story parking lot. The shopping center now looks more like a place after war damage. In the place of Galeria Malta, a housing estate will be built in three years. It is worth adding that the demolition does not include the footbridge over Baraniaka Street.

There are practically no new shopping malls being built anymore because people prefer to buy online. The pandemic also killed retail. An additional problem for us is the location of this type of facilities. In Europe, they are on the outskirts of cities, but in our country, they are in the center - said in an interview with "Gazeta Wyborcza" the designer of Galeria Malta, prof. Stanisław Sipiński. Kiedy przyjechaliśmy tu po raz pierwszy, a było to 17 lat temu, Galeria Malta była głównym centrum handlowym. Teraz jest w ruinie, trwa jej gruntowna rozbiórka. Niedawno można tam było zrobić świetne zakupy, teraz pozostały tylko puste przestrzenie. Została zdominowana przez najnowsze ogromne centrum handlowe Poznania, oddalone o niecałą milę. 

Galeria Malta od jakiegoś czasu jest w trakcie rozbiórki. Ciężki sprzęt i maszyny niszczą konstrukcję wielopoziomowego parkingu. Centrum handlowe wygląda teraz bardziej jak miejsce po zniszczeniach wojennych. W miejscu Galerii Malta w ciągu trzech lat powstanie osiedle mieszkaniowe. Warto dodać, że rozbiórka nie obejmuje kładki nad ulicą Baraniaka. 

Praktycznie nie buduje się już nowych centrów handlowych, bo ludzie wolą kupować w sieci. Pandemia zabiła też handel detaliczny. Dla nas, dodatkowym problemem jest lokalizacja tego typu obiektów.
