Here's part of an article in the Chicago Tribune about our young cousin Preston.
"It took just four games for Preston Saia to set a Merrillville record.
The 6-foot-7 senior guard knocked down eight 3-pointers on 10 attempts in the Pirates’ win against Griffith on Dec. 12.
“It’s a blessing,” Saia said. “I will try to break it again one day, one of these games. It’s really cool.
”Saia joined Merrillville Indiana after spending the past two seasons at Don Bosco. As a freshman, he began his high school career playing on Crown Point’s junior varsity team.
Even with the Pirates (3-1) returning four starters from last season, Saia has meshed with the group.“It’s been seamless because of his personality,” Merrillville coach Bo Patton said. “He’s a natural leader, not necessarily vocal but by example. He’s a guy who comes before school and stays after practice to shoot.
Oto cz臋艣膰 artyku艂u w Chicago Tribune o naszym m艂odym kuzynie Prestonie.
"Preston Saia potrzebowa艂 zaledwie czterech mecz贸w, aby ustanowi膰 rekord Merrillville.
Mierz膮cy 6 st贸p i 7 cm starszy obro艅ca trafi艂 osiem rzut贸w 3-punktowych w 10 pr贸bach w wygranym przez Pirat贸w meczu z Griffith 12 grudnia.
"To b艂ogos艂awie艅stwo" - powiedzia艂 Saia. "Pewnego dnia spr贸buj臋 to powt贸rzy膰, w jednym z tych mecz贸w. To naprawd臋 fajne.
"Saia do艂膮czy艂 do Merrillville Indiana po sp臋dzeniu ostatnich dw贸ch sezon贸w w Don Bosco. Jako pierwszoroczniak rozpocz膮艂 swoj膮 karier臋 w szkole 艣redniej, graj膮c w dru偶ynie junior贸w Crown Point.
Nawet z Piratami (3-1), kt贸rzy powr贸cili z poprzedniego sezonu z czterema starterami, Saia zaz臋bi艂 si臋 z grup膮. "To by艂o p艂ynne ze wzgl臋du na jego osobowo艣膰" - powiedzia艂 trener Merrillville Bo Patton. "Jest naturalnym liderem, niekoniecznie wokalnym, ale daj膮cym przyk艂ad. Jest facetem, kt贸ry przychodzi przed szko艂膮 i zostaje po treningu, aby strzela膰.
