We went to Greenpoint today to experience a 5D movie. Well, not actually a movie because it only lasted 11 minutes. It was called Cats and Ghosts. It was the story of a cat chasing a mouse through a haunted house and you see it thorugh the cats eyes. The seats are moveable so when the cat jumps up a tree the seats go back and then forward as if you are jumping and landing on the tree. As he runs faster you can feel the wind blowing past your body and when the rain starts you feel it on your face although when you actually touch your face it is totally dry. In the story the cat comes upon a lot of mice who run past him and on your feet you can feel the mice run by. It was quite an experience and even though the cost was high for only 11 minutes of film, 20zl($7USD) it was worth the experience.
How does it work? Stereoscopic image is displayed on the screen polarization. The viewer, using special glasses, is experiencing a realistic impression. Added to this are special effects.

Additional results are intended to ensure the speakers mounted in the headrests of the seats. In addition, when the film appears on the scene with strong wind, a special machine will generate gusts that pass through the entire cinema hall. It also has a generator for laser effects in the form of lightning, and thunder.
The theatre itself is very small, 4 rows of 7 seats in each row. There are only 4 theatres like this in Poland. I would like to see Avatar produced in this 5D effect and someday they may actually start making longer movies.
But it was a strange afternoon because when the movie was over I was going to take Joan for coffee at Kandulski's downtown but it closses at 3PM on Saturday so instead we walked to the rynek to have hot chocolate at the Cacao Republik. As we approached the rynek there were two ambulances and a police car and lieing on the sidewalk in front of the Sioux restaurant was an elderly man with an air bag in his mouth and a paramedic pumping his chest. Apparently he had a heart attack while walkiing with his daughter and granddaughter. The paramedic tried in vain to revive him but he could not and the man died. It was almost surrealistic. We walked away from there to the Republik, went inside and climbed the stairs to the second floor that has sofas and nice chairs to sit in.
Joan ordered hot chocolate with a shot of rum in it and I had mine with a little chili powder. This is real hot chocolate, not like the kind you buy in a package or at a restaurant. It was thick like a sauce or melting a bar of chocolate and then drinking it. Both were very delicious and the atmosphere of the upstairs is very conducive to conversation. It is a small place with four sofas and two small tables that overlook the street. We took one of the sofas and talked about what we had experienced today, both in the cinema and then the reality of death. we couldn't get the picture of the poor man lieing on the sidewalk and his daughter and granddaughter witnessing the whole thing. We felt very sorrowfull for them both. Life is so fragile and in a moment it can be gone.

Była gęsta jak sos lub melting tabliczkę czekolady, a następnie jej picia. Oba były bardzo smaczne, a atmosfera na górze jest bardzo sprzyjające rozmowie. Jest to mała miejscowość z czterema sofy i dwóch stolików z widokiem na ulicę. Wzięliśmy jeden z sofy i rozmawialiśmy o tym, co mieliśmy doświadczonych dziś, zarówno w kinie, a potem rzeczywistość śmierci. nie mogliśmy uzyskać obraz biednego człowieka leżącego na chodniku i córki i wnuczki świadkami wszystkiego.
