Similar days.

Yesterday, like today, not much sunshine so it's a kind of typical autumn day.

I talked with a young person yesterday who is taking the driving course in order to obtain his license.  He said there were 20 written questions taken from a total of 500 but next year the rules will change and the total amount of possible questions will increase to 4000.  I don't know if this is fact or fiction but if it is a fact it makes me wonder why such a dramatic increase in the number of possible questions.  It seems the current test is hard enough and that some people have to take it four or five times before they pass it.   Once you do have a Polish drivers license it is good for your whole lifetime.  So you don't have to renew or retake the test every four or eight years like in the U.S.  If anything should be changed, I think it is that.

In Poland it has always been difficult to obtain a driver's license. In the old days I remember that they had to know how to change a tire, spark plugs and take the course through a certified training school. Spark plug changing?

In Pennsylvania your license is good for your whole life and you never retake the test, even the eye exam. The only way your license can be taken away is if a doctor files a report with the state. I have a 90 year old neighbor, who only drove once in her life to take the test, still in possession of her license. Other states may be different however.

That's surpising to me. In Illinois, Florida and Ohio you have to do the retake.

Have to do it every four years in Minnesota, too, along with an eye test at the license office.
