I read the bad news that due to EU sanctions against Iran our gas prices will be going even higher soon. Right now we are paying about 5.60ZL PER liter. One gallon of gasoline equals 3.79 liters so if you multiply3.79 times 5.60 you have 21.22 zl per gallon. Now take the current rate of exchange of zloty to dollar, 3.09zl for 1 dollar, divide 3.09 into 21.22 and you have $6.86 per gallon. So to my cousins in America all I can say is to stop complaing that you have to pay $3.79 a gallon for gas. Unless, of course, if my calculations are wrong.
With the coming of the Euro 2012 to Poland unions are using it as an opportunity to ask for more money for their workers. The latest are the train companies who want to make sure that a previous contract with the old Minister of Traansportation will be upheld by the new Minister. If not, they are threatining to go on strike during the games and disrupt the flow of fans and tourist to the games in Pozna艅.
