The Infamous Day...

Pearl Harbor is a U.S. naval base near Honolulu, Hawaii, and was the scene of a devastating surprise attack by Japanese forces on December 7, 1941. Just before 8 a.m. on that Sunday morning, hundreds of Japanese fighter planes descended on the base, where they managed to destroy or damage nearly 20 American naval vessels, including eight enormous battleships, and over 300 airplanes. More than 2,400 Americans died in the attack, including civilians, and another 1,000 people were wounded. The day after the assault, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan.



 

Joan is an experimental cook.  By that I mean she likes to experiment with a new recipe. She did that the last 2 days with the zucchini soup recipe from Mirka.

 

The first day she gathered all the ingredients and made the soup without purraying it. She wanted to see how the soup would be and how the zucchini pieces would taste. The soup had no body to it, too watery, and the vegetable only a slightly different taste.

 

Today, Joan pureed  the soup and it was exceptional in taste. I would highly recommend it for a cold, winter-like night. I don't know but it might even be good cold in the summer. The recipe is on the left side of this blog.

Tuż przed godziną 8 rano w niedzielę rano setki japońskich samolotów myśliwskich zostało skierowanych na bazę, gdzie udało im się zniszczyć lub uszkodzić prawie 20 amerykańskich okrętów wojennych, w tym osiem ogromnych pancerników i ponad 300 samolotów. W ataku zginęło ponad 2400 Amerykanów, w tym cywile, a rannych zostało jeszcze 1000 osób. Dzień po napaści prezydent Franklin D. Roosevelt poprosił Kongres o wypowiedzenie wojny Japonii.

Joan jest eksperymentalnym kucharzem. Chodzi mi o to, że lubi eksperymentować z nowym przepisem. Zrobiła tak przez ostatnie 2 dni z przepisem na zupę z cukinii od Mirki.

Pierwszego dnia zgromadziła wszystkie składniki i zrobiła zupę bez ich oczyszczania. Chciała zobaczyć, jaka to będzie zupa i jak będą smakować kawałki cukinii. Zupa nie miała wyrazu, była zbyt wodnista, a warzywa tylko nieco inny smak.

Dzisiaj Joan zmiksowała zupę i była wyjątkowa w smaku. Gorąco polecam na zimną zimową noc. Nie wiem, ale latem może być dobra na zimno. Przepis znajduje się po lewej stronie tego bloga.
