Uprising.

 

 

Yesterday was the celebration of the Wielkopolska uprising of 1918–1919. It was an  insurrection of Poles in Poznań  against German rule. The uprising had a significant effect on the Treaty of Versailles. There has been only 2 successful uprisings in Poland. The other one was in 1806.


For many years, fans of Lech Poznan, Poznan's soccer team, have been organizing spectacular illumination for this occasion and it was similar this year. Participants of the action met at the Rataje roundabout, and then formed a chain stretching from Śródka street to Starołęka.

Punctually at 16:40, thousands of flares were lit and trams and city buses stopped for a minute.

At 19:00, the beginning of the Wielkopolska Uprising a run was planned from Rataje to
 Plac Wolności where an insurgent camp once stood.

Wczoraj obchodzono wielkopolskie powstanie w latach 1918-1919. To powstanie poznańskich Polaków przeciwko rządom niemieckim. Powstanie miało znaczący wpływ na traktat wersalski. W Polsce powstały tylko 2 udane powstania. Drugi był w 1806 roku.


Przez wiele lat kibice Lecha Poznań, poznańskiej drużyny piłkarskiej, organizowali spektakularne oświetlenie z tej okazji i podobnie było w tym roku. Uczestnicy akcji spotkali się na rondzie Rataje, a następnie utworzyli łańcuch rozciągający się od Śródki do Starołęki.

Punktualnie o 16:40 rozbłysły tysiące flar i tramwaje, a autobusy miejskie zatrzymały się na minutę.

O 19.00 zaplanowano początek Powstania Wielkopolskiego z Rataje na Plac Wolności, gdzie stał kiedyś obóz powstańczy.
