Shameful day!

Out of curiosity, last night I watched the live broadcast of the testimony of the sexual assault accusation against the U.S. Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford. Kavanaugh is the choice of "Orange Head" and the Republican party. The Chairman of the committee is also a Republican and it was evident from his opening statement.

The one thing that stood out the most for me was the denial of an FBI investigation into the allegations before the final vote is cast. That has never happened before in the history of Supreme Court nominees.

Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, the Chairman, said, “Dr Ford’s testimony would reflect her personal knowledge and memory of events. Nothing the FBI or any other investigator does would have any bearing on what Dr Ford tells the committee, so there is no reason for any further delay. Grassley said there is no reason to delay Ford’s testimony.

The Republican Senators on the committee chose not to question Ford individually but instead hired a Republican female lawyer to do it. She was trying to discredit Ford's testimony but did a miserable job of it.

Kavanaugh's defense was mainly an attack on the democratic party in which the Republican senators joined in. He pleaded innocent, saying he was not the accused person and there was no evidence to prove otherwise.  The other man involved in the incident, Mark Judge, only gave a written statement pleading innocent also but was never questioned by the FBI.

In the end, the truth was not known based on a thorough investigation. However, a MIRACLE happened when one of the Republican senators, Jeff Flake, was about to vote yes on the confirmation. He walked into an elevator to go the the meeting and there were a few women who told him they couldn't believe he would actually vote to confirm the nominee without knowing the whole truth. They talked enough that he decided to ask the Committee for an FBI investigation into the allegations and delay the vote for one week before he would vote. He also convinced 3 other senators to do the same thing..

Zeszłej nocy, bez ciekawości, oglądałem na żywo transmisję zeznań o napaści na tle seksualnym skierowanej przeciwko kandydatowi do Sądu Najwyższego Stanów Zjednoczonych, Brettowi Kavanaughowi i jego oskarżycielce, Christine Blasey Ford. Kavanaugh to wybór "Pomarańczowej Głowy" i partii republikańskiej.

Republikański senator Chuck Grassley, przewodniczący, powiedział: "Zeznanie dr Ford odzwierciedlałoby jej osobistą wiedzę i pamięć o wydarzeniach.

  1. Kavanaugh should receive an Oscar for his performance. Another day of infamy for the USA.

Hi Joan and David, Love reading your daily posts, including your hearing your take on political issues, (that is what democracy is all about)
I hope you have a great time in Spain and your application for Polish Citizenship will be a downward run.. although I suspect you will need to still cross a few hurdles. You must be so proud of His Excellency the President of the free world Mr Donald Trump, he has put the US on the map again, record low unemployment, record profits, and his ability to resolve conflicts ie he resolved the tension with North Korea. He will be remembered as a great President. Most likely we will have US combat troops stationed in Poland, you will probably feel more at home, it may bring with it a boom in the baby population and sadly many unwanted babies. hmm.
David, please understand that future leaders will have skeletons in their closet, that’s the nature of today’s society, if the internet was around in the 60’s etc, your favourite President JFK would be looking much worse that what Trump has ever done, think about it.
You and Z may have similar views, but they don’t reflect the views of the majority, and that’s ok Regards..

  3. Anon, I have a few Anon's who make comments but I always know which one is you :-). Proud of "Orange Head" is the complete opposite of how I feel and you know that. He will be remembered as the worst President. I feel at home now, I don't need American military bases in Poland to make me feel at home. Did you feel at home with Russian military bases if you are old enough to remember? Unwanted baby boom? So you are not in favor of American bases? Even with skeletons in JFK's closet, you cannot possibly compare him to "Orange Head". That is really a joke! It is not on Z and I who have similar views but many others in Poland. You should stop listening to Radio Maria. Regards..

David, methinks your other 'Anon friend' is being fascetious at your expense...so,
    just ignore and/or check your BP after reading him/her....;~}

Meanwhile, here's a film clip to help lower your bp:
(an SNL video the writer's came up with just after the real-deal aired; BOTH are
laughable, though the Senate coverage was also pathetic, unethical if not unlawful, and truly sad, at the State of the Nation....

The main cast of senate characters is portrayed, w. Matt Damon portraying the guy, Kavanaugh...get some laughs!

  5. Steph, saw the clip-hilarious. The other "Anon" just likes to "pull my chain" a little every now and then but he means no harm.
