Day 3

At the 13:00(1 PM) visit I was able to help Joan eat most of her lunch although the halibut fish had many bones and she didn't eat much of that. However, she did have chicken vegetable soup, bread, stewed tomatoes, and peaches. There was no doctor available to get the latest update but I saw a little progress with her eye movement which was good. Of course, she is weak from the stroke and laying in bed for 3 days now and I can only hope it won't be long before I can get her up to move around.

For me, this is a terrible time and takes all my strength to stay positive thinking. This house is so empty without her. I don't like being here but they won't let me stay long in the hospital. The drive there is not bad, only 33 minutes, a long straight road and then over a small mountain and I am there. I've had confirmation from 2 local registered nurses that it is the best hospital for Joan to be in. It's a small consolation while I wait for our future to unfold.

To try to keep my mind off of matters I've been forcing myself to work on my Spanish. It's always been a natural thing for me but, under the circumstances, now I have to push myself.  I learned a new phrase that sums it all up, " La echo tanto de menos", I miss her so much!

The 20:00(8 PM) visit was a shock. I arrived on time and was met by Cari and Juanjo. We went into the room and Joan's bed was empty. We asked what happened and they said after Joan's cardio test it was determined that she was stable so they transferred her to Los Arcos hospital in San Javier. They said they tried to call me twice but because I had a  Polish number, their system wouldn't put the call through. So Cari said we should go to Los Arcos to try to see Joan. I thought the Los Arcos hospital by the beach was the one so I drove there, When some time passed and Cari didn't arrive I called her and she said they were standing in front of the hospital. I said so was I but it was closed. She told that hospital had been closed for some years and the new one was in San Javier. She said she would come and get me.

At the new hospital, very modern, we found Joan's semi-private room and Joan on the 3rd floor. She looked and sounded better but still had eye problems. Talking to a nurse, the visiting hours are much more liberal and I can even spend the night in her room. It was already 9:30 so we stayed for 1/2 hour and I told Joan I would see her in the morning. Cari and Juanjo invited me to dinner so I ate with them and returned home.

Podczas wizyty o 13:00 (1PM) mog艂em pom贸c Joan zje艣膰 wi臋kszo艣膰 jej lunchu, chocia偶 halibut mia艂 wiele ko艣ci i przez to nie zjad艂a go du偶o. Jednak zjad艂a zup臋 z kurczaka z jarzynami, chleb, duszone pomidory i brzoskwinie.

Dla mnie jest to straszny czas i wymaga wszystkich moich si艂, aby zachowa膰 pozytywne my艣lenie.

呕eby trzyma膰 si臋 z dala od tych spraw, zmuszam si臋 do pracy nad moim hiszpa艅skim.

Wizyta o 20:00 (8PM) by艂a szokiem. Przyjecha艂em na czas i spotka艂em Cari i Juanjo. Weszli艣my do pokoju, a 艂贸偶ko Joan by艂o puste. Wi臋c Cari powiedzia艂, 偶e powinni艣my jecha膰 do Los Arcos i spr贸bowa膰 zobaczy膰 si臋 z Joan. My艣la艂em, 偶e to ten szpital w Los Arcos przy pla偶y, wi臋c pojecha艂em tam. Gdy min臋艂o troch臋 czasu i Cari nie przyjecha艂a, zadzwoni艂em do niej, a ona powiedzia艂a, 偶e stoj膮 przed szpitalem. Powiedzia艂em, 偶e ja r贸wnie偶, ale budynek jest zamkni臋ty.

Wygl膮da艂a i m贸wi艂a lepiej, ale wci膮偶 mia艂a problemy z oczami. Po rozmowie z piel臋gniark膮 okaza艂o si臋, 偶e godziny odwiedzin s膮 o wiele bardziej tolerancyjne, a nawet mog臋 sp臋dzi膰 noc w jej pokoju. By艂a ju偶 9:30 PM wi臋c zostali艣my na p贸艂 godziny i powiedzia艂em Joan, 偶e zobacz臋 si臋 z ni膮 rano. Cari i Juanjo zaprosili mnie na kolacj臋, wi臋c zjad艂em z nimi i wr贸ci艂em do domu.
