Lost in the shuffle.

Humanity has less than three years to halt the rise in carbon dioxide emissions that are warming the planet and less than a decade to cut them nearly in half, the United Nations reported Monday in a landmark report on halting global warming and ensuring a "livable future."

In light of the war in Ukraine, nothing has been said about stopping the destruction of the planet. Shouldn't there be a war against that? For decades scientists have warned about the coming problem but still, today, very little is being done to prevent it. At my age, it should not be a cause for worry but it is. We have grandchildren who will suffer because of the lack of response from the older generations. Everyone is united because of the aggression of Putin with his miserable army attacking Ukraine. Why are we not all united to save this planet we live on? Why are governments and private industries not working to combat it? The war in Ukraine will end, one way or another, but when will the war against climate change really begin? Setting goals to be met in 2030 or 2050 is ridiculous. By that time it will be too late. Don't tell me there have always been changes in the climate before. That is true but what has been happening in the last 10 years is unprecedented

Those children who are lucky enough to survive the war, what future do they have to look forward to?

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON, April 4 (Reuters) - The United States stopped the Russian government on Monday from paying holders of its sovereign debt more than $600 million from reserves held at American banks, in a move meant to ratchet up pressure on Moscow and eat into its holdings of U.S. dollars.

The move was meant to force Moscow to make the difficult decision of whether it would use dollars that it has access to for payments on its debt or for other purposes, including supporting its war effort, the spokesperson said.

Russia faces a historic default if it chooses to not do so.

"Russia must choose between draining remaining valuable dollar reserves or new revenue coming in, or default," the spokesperson said.

W świetle wojny na Ukrainie nie mówi się nic o powstrzymaniu niszczenia planety. Czy nie powinno się prowadzić wojny przeciwko temu zjawisku? Przez dziesiątki lat naukowcy ostrzegali przed nadchodzącym problemem, ale do dziś niewiele się robi, aby temu zapobiec. W moim wieku nie powinno to być powodem do zmartwień, ale jest. Mamy wnuki, które będą cierpieć z powodu braku reakcji ze strony starszych pokoleń. Wszyscy są zjednoczeni z powodu agresji Putina i jego nędznej armii atakujących Ukrainę. Dlaczego nie zjednoczyliśmy się, aby ratować planetę, na której żyjemy? Dlaczego rządy i przemysł prywatny nie działają na rzecz jej zwalczania? Wojna na Ukrainie zakończy się w ten czy inny sposób, ale kiedy naprawdę rozpocznie się wojna ze zmianami klimatu? Wyznaczanie celów do osiągnięcia w 2030 lub 2050 roku jest niedorzeczne. Do tego czasu będzie już za późno. Nie mówcie mi, że zmiany klimatu zawsze występowały  wcześniej. To prawda, ale to, co się dzieje w ciągu ostatnich 10 lat, jest bezprecedensowe. 

Dzieci, które miały szczęście przeżyć wojnę, jaką przyszłość mogą sobie wyobrazić?

NOWY JORK/WASZYNGTON, 4 kwietnia (Reuters) - Stany Zjednoczone uniemożliwiły w poniedziałek rządowi rosyjskiemu wypłacenie posiadaczom długu państwowego ponad 600 mln dolarów z rezerw zgromadzonych w amerykańskich bankach, co miało zwiększyć presję na Moskwę i uszczuplić jej zasoby dolarów amerykańskich. 

Posunięcie to miało zmusić Moskwę do podjęcia trudnej decyzji, czy wykorzystać dolary, do których ma dostęp, na spłatę długu, czy też na inne cele, w tym na wsparcie działań wojennych - powiedział rzecznik. 

Jeśli Rosja nie zdecyduje się na ten krok, grozi jej historyczne bankructwo. 

"Rosja musi wybrać między wydrenowaniem pozostałych cennych rezerw dolarowych a napływem nowych dochodów lub niewypłacalnością" - powiedział rzecznik.

A la luz de la guerra en Ucrania, no se ha dicho nada sobre cómo detener la destrucción del planeta. ¿No debería haber una guerra contra eso? Durante décadas, los científicos han advertido del problema que se avecina, pero todavía, hoy, se hace muy poco para evitarlo. A mi edad, no debería ser motivo de preocupación, pero lo es. Tenemos nietos que sufrirán por la falta de respuesta de las generaciones mayores. Todo el mundo está unido por la agresión de Putin con su miserable ejército atacando Ucrania. ¿Por qué no estamos todos unidos para salvar este planeta en el que vivimos? ¿Por qué los gobiernos y las industrias privadas no trabajan para combatirlo? La guerra en Ucrania terminará, de una manera u otra, pero ¿cuándo comenzará realmente la guerra contra el cambio climático? Establecer objetivos que se cumplan en 2030 o 2050 es ridículo. Para entonces será demasiado tarde. No me digan que siempre ha habido cambios en el clima antes. Es cierto, pero lo que ha ocurrido en los últimos 10 años no tiene precedentes.

Los niños que tengan la suerte de sobrevivir a la guerra, ¿qué futuro les espera?

NUEVA YORK/WASHINGTON, 4 de abril (Reuters) - Estados Unidos impidió el lunes que el gobierno ruso pagara a los tenedores de su deuda soberana más de 600 millones de dólares de las reservas mantenidas en los bancos estadounidenses, en una medida destinada a aumentar la presión sobre Moscú y a mermar sus tenencias de dólares estadounidenses.

La medida pretendía obligar a Moscú a tomar la difícil decisión de utilizar los dólares a los que tiene acceso para los pagos de su deuda o para otros fines, incluido el apoyo a su esfuerzo bélico, dijo el portavoz.

Rusia se enfrenta a un impago histórico si decide no hacerlo.

"Rusia debe elegir entre agotar las valiosas reservas de dólares que le quedan o los nuevos ingresos que le llegan, o el impago", dijo el portavoz.
