Haircuts

Today was our day for haircuts. We left early enough to be on time, 13:30(1:30 PM). However, all of the major streets leading to the location are under construction, and the only way I could get there was to backup on a one-way street going out only.

While Joan was getting her haircut, I walked a short distance to the Rynek to see if the outside cafes were open. They can usually open on April 1st. Except for the sidewalk around the Rynek, it had a fence all the way around it.  All of the cobblestone walking areas are gone and only the dirt is visible. It is the beginning of the renovation to modernize with large tiles to make it easier to walk around. For the last two years, Joan and I have not been there because the cobblestone is too hard to manipulate with the wheelchair she uses. Once it is finished(who knows how many years that will take) we will be able to go back. Some of the cafes have tables on the sidewalk but this will definitely affect tourism.

There are only 2 news services I trust, Reuters and News&Guts(Dan Rather's organization). I have been posting Reuters war news on this blog too much, I think, so I am trying to do it on my FB page instead I think most of you are aware of the war but not getting all of the news in the U.S.

Dzisiaj był nasz dzień na strzyżenie. Wyjechaliśmy na tyle wcześnie, że zdążyliśmy na czas, o 13:30 (1:30 PM). Jednak wszystkie główne ulice prowadzące do tego miejsca są w przebudowie i jedynym sposobem dotarcia na miejsce było poruszanie się po jednokierunkowej ulicy. 

Podczas gdy Joan była u fryzjera, przeszedłem kawałek do Rynku, żeby sprawdzić, czy kawiarnie na zewnątrz lokali są otwarte. Zwykle można je otworzyć 1 kwietnia. Z wyjątkiem chodnika wokół Rynku, plac był  ogrodzony na całej długości.  Wszystkie brukowane chodniki zniknęły i widać tylko ziemię. Jest to początek remontu, który ma na celu modernizację nawierzchni z wykorzystaniem dużych płyt, aby ułatwić poruszanie się po nim. Przez ostatnie dwa lata nie byliśmy tam z Joan, ponieważ bruk jest zbyt trudny do pokonania dla wózka inwalidzkiego, którego ona używa. Kiedy prace zostaną zakończone (kto wie, ile to potrwa), będziemy mogli tam wrócić. Niektóre kawiarnie mają stoliki na chodniku, ale to z pewnością wpłynie na ruch turystyczny. 

Ufam tylko dwóm serwisom informacyjnym: Reuters i News&Guts (organizacja Dana Rathera). Myślę, że zbyt często umieszczam na tym blogu wiadomości wojenne Reutersa, więc staram się to robić na mojej stronie na FB. Myślę, że większość z Was wie o wojnie, ale nie otrzymuje wszystkich wiadomości z USA.

Hoy era nuestro día de corte de pelo. Salimos lo suficientemente temprano para llegar a tiempo, a las 13:30 (1:30 PM). Sin embargo, todas las calles principales que conducen al lugar están en obras, y la única forma de llegar era dando marcha atrás en una calle de un solo sentido que sólo va hacia afuera.

Mientras Joan se cortaba el pelo, recorrí una corta distancia hasta el Rynek para ver si los cafés exteriores estaban abiertos. Normalmente pueden abrir el 1 de abril. Excepto la acera que rodea el Rynek, que tenía una valla a su alrededor.  Todas las zonas de paseo empedradas han desaparecido y sólo se ve la suciedad. Es el comienzo de la renovación para modernizar con grandes baldosas para que sea más fácil caminar. Durante los dos últimos años, Joan y yo no hemos estado allí porque el adoquín es demasiado difícil de manipular con la silla de ruedas que ella utiliza. Cuando esté terminado (quién sabe cuántos años tardará) podremos volver. Algunos cafés tienen mesas en la acera, pero esto afectará definitivamente al turismo.

Sólo hay dos servicios de noticias en los que confío, Reuters y News&Guts (la organización de Dan Rather). He estado publicando las noticias de la guerra de Reuters en este blog demasiado, creo, así que estoy tratando de hacerlo en mi página de FB en su lugar Creo que la mayoría de ustedes son conscientes de la guerra, pero no recibir todas las noticias en los EE.UU..
