When we were in America, our Polish teacher introduced us, over the internet, to a friend of his who lived in Poznań. Today he came to visit and meet us in person. He is a teacher of English and a translator of documents from Polish into English. We spent about 2 1/2 hours together talking about everything and getting his advise on buying a car. As soon as he has time he is going to take us around to some car dealers to look at what's out there. We still haven't made up our minds about buying a car but are leaning more in favor than before.

Regarding your banking experience I would just say that our experience in Poland this summer gave us a hint of the Polish banking system.
My two friends wanted to cash travelers checks so we went to a bank near the main square in Krakow. They asked us to take a seat and after about one hour and three different back tellers my friends finally got their money. It seemed to be a major deal to get these checks cashed.
I would infer that the Polish banking system is not on par with the rest of the European Community at this point in time. So what I'm saying is, not to worry, it's just the way it is in Poland :-).

I could accept that but we have a friend down in Sczryczk, who uses Bank American and Polish bank PKO. His money wires take place within 24 hours, not 2-5 days so something is wrong with the Citibank system here.
