Our refrigerator has a small tray where you can make ice cubes. There are three trays in total and over the last 18 months they leak whenever you fill them. We've been looking for new trays but haven't found them anywhere. Zbyszek told us about another way to make cubes using plastic bags. They come in two sizes for cubes, small and large. We bought a box of each type of cube. In the box are 10 bags. These bags are flat, divided into 5 rows with 3 cubes in each row. You have to take the bag, put it under the faucet and pour water into it. It's like when I was a little kid and we made water balloons. As the water flows into the bag, each individual compartment is filled with water. When the bag is filled, you tie the top of the bag and put it into the freezer. When you want an ice cube to have to peel off the thin plastic shell to reveal the ice cube. Obviously, the bags are not reusable because you destroy them as you remove the ice cube. A box of bags costs about 3zl so they are not expensive but the experience of making ice cubes is very unique for us. We'll keep searching for REAL ice cube trays.


In Gazeta Wyborcza, a newspaper, this week they advertised that they were selling DVD's of the trilogy made into a movie of the novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz. All three volumes of Jerzy Hoffman's epic translation of Nobel Prize-winning author Henryk Sienkiewicz's lavish 17th century trilogy are featured in this set. At the time of its release, With Fire and Sword (1999, 182 mins.), was the most expensive Polish film ever made. The drama is set during the Cossack uprising against the Polish nobility. As the violent confrontation builds, a battle ensues between a dashing Pole and a brutish Ukrainian for the heart of a girl. The Deluge (1974, 290 mins.), set during the Polish-Swedish war, follows the stormy love between a soldier and a young woman and was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 1974. Colonel Wolodyjowski (1969, 160 mins.), set during the Turkish invasion of Poland's eastern frontier, chronicles Colonel Wolodyjowski's final defense against the Turks through rousing battle scenes and impressive action. I've seen it twice and wanted to add it to our movie collection. If you buy the newspaper then you an buy each chapter for 6zl. I bought the paper and then found out the store I bought the paper didn't have the DVD's and I would have to go to Empik(like Borders bookstores). I went there today and they didn't have the DVD's either. Guess I have to call Gazeta and see where I can buy them.

Szukaliśmy nowych tac ale nie znaleźliśmy ich gdziekolwiek. Zbyszek powiedział nam o innym sposobie by zrobić sześciany używającymi torebek plastikowych. Oni wchodzą dwa rozmiary dla sześcianów, małych i wielkie. Kupiliśmy pudełko każdego typu sześcianu. W pudełku są 10 toreb. Te torby są płaskie, podzielone na 5 rzędów z 3 sześcianami w każdym rzędzie. Musisz wziąć torbę, położyć to pod kurkiem i zlać wodę do tego. To jest jak kiedy byłem małym dzieckiem i czyniliśmy wodę balony. Jak przepływy wody do torby, każdy indywidualny przedział jest wypełniany wodą. Kiedy torba jest napełniona, wiążesz szczyt torby i kładziesz to do zamrażalnika. Kiedy chcesz, żeby kostka lodu musiała oderwać cienką plastyczną skorupę by ujawnić kostkę lodu. Oczywiście, torby nie są nadający się do wielokrotnego użycia ponieważ niszczysz ich jak usuwasz kostkę lodu.
