Highs and lows.

In genealogy research you have highs and lows. Today was a high point. I've been searching for almost 9 years for a picture of my grandfathers sister, Cecylia. I not only got her picture but her husband and childrens too. Last week I was told about a cousin in the U.S. who is interested in the family genealogy and she was the one who sent the picture. Her name is Noelle Van Cleve, daughter of Thomas and Ann Burzycki, granddaughter of Jeanette and Conrad Burzycki and great granddaughter of Cecylia and Chester Dąbrowski(Dombrowski). Dombrowski is the Americanized name for Dąbrowski. Coincidentally there is a Dąbrowski street not far from our flat.

It's time like these that keep me searching for family connections. A picture, like the one above, is so valuable to me because it puts faces to names. It's just too bad they didn't have camera's 200 or 300 hundred years ago. Information is still available, however, and you just have to keep searching and searching until you find it. Cousin Bernice Paulinski, our oldest relative, told me today she remembers that Cecylia and Chester had a little store on 32nd street in Chicago and she visited them with her mother when she was very young. Small bits of information but it all goes together to make the family tree real, not just pictures and dates.

W badaniach genealogii masz zmienne koleje. Jej nazwisko jest Noelle Van Cleve, córka Thomasa i Ann Burzycki, wnuczki Jeanette i Conrad Burzycki i wielkiej wnuczki Cecylia i Chester Dąbrowski(Dombrowski).

    Hi...
What a great find!!! It is worth the effort, isn't it? All the work eventually pays off---sometimes in a big way and sometimes small....I agree that everything is important--big or small. We just keep searching.
Lately, I have trying to sort and organize old pictures---you know, the ones that are in shoeboxes and such. Thanks for sharing the pic.
    Hugs,
    Marilyn

That's how all of my research started, from old pictures. Then I scanned them onto CD's and I just keep adding new ones. I like having the old pictures to hold but so many pictures were sent to me by relatives and I wanted to return the originals. I must have over 2000 pictures now of relatives and families. So many that I had to start using a program for putting names on each picture.
