Family!

In the context of human society, a family is a group of people related either by recognized birth, by marriage, or other relationship, or co-residence. Members of the immediate family may include spouses, parents, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters. Members of the extended family may include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces and siblings-in-law. Sometimes these are also considered members of the immediate family, depending on an individual's specific relationship with them.

In my 11 years of genealogy research I've found I'm part of many extended families, both here in Poland and in the United States. I've also noticed that only one family includes both the immediate and extended families in at least meeting every year. That family is the Rajewski family from Michigan in the United States. 50 years ago a piece of property was bought by a river in Freesoil, Michigan and has been used since then for a family gathering in the summer. This year was not different and the 50th year was celebrated. However, it is not always the only time they get together. Sometimes it is for Thanksgiving Day but on a smaller scale of people who can be there. For me, this is what family means.

place for SO long-- how many fond and memorable
moments your relations will have in their hearts
    through many generations....
