A lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng morning.

Knowing that I have enough experience to know better, I met Gosia at 11:00 at the registry office with my three documents to be entered into the Polish registry: my birth, Joan's birth and our marriage. With our ticket in hand for waiting, it didn't take long to enter the office where a young lady waited for us. Because she only spoke Polish, it was good to have Gosia with me to expalain everything to me and ask my questions.

After looking over the documents, the lady said there was no problem with my birth certificate but there were problems with the marriage and Joan's birth certificate and they could NOT be accepted. Those 2 months of waiting for those documents from the U.S, were wasted along with the money spent.

The problem with Joan's birth certificate was that it did not show the city in which she was born, a requirement of the civil registry. Therefore, it was rejected. I have to apply, once again, to Ohio and ask for a long form birth certificate that shows the city. When I receive that, it has to be sent back for the apostille stamp. This will take, at least, another 1 1/2 months.

The marriage certificate has a different problem.  Joan's name on her birth certificate is Joan Marion Frederick. On our marriage license it is Joan Marion Piekarczyk but with the previous name, Joan Marion Flowers(her first husband). There is no connection between Flowers and Frederick in the form of a marriage license. So, I have to apply for her marriage license to her first husband and then the apostille. Needless to say I was not happy when it was all done.

OMG! You have grit...I would have long run screaming
out of those offices with their bureaucratic red tape
that strangles (but, alas, yes, understandable that you
want this all done and kudos that you have the persistence
to see it to through the end). Which I HOPE is not too
much longer in time and hassle...Best of Luck!

  2. GG: One thing you have to learn here is patience, which hasn't been easy for me. However today the sun shined brighter on the subject thanks to a friend and a helpful employee in the U.S. At least they understand what customer service means, usually.
