It was a good day for granola with a fruit breakfast and nice weather. I took Joan at 11:00 to Park Citadela. We have been there a few times before but gravitate more toward Park Solacki since it is close to our flat. Being early, it was easy to find a parking place and walk into the park.
We parked near the main building and saw a very nice collection of local and foreign flowers planted in front of the building. The park is about 5 times larger than Solacz and there are still parts we haven't been to. There are paved pathways and dirt paths but it is necessary for me to use the paved ones because of the wheelchair.
Going straight ahead, it would have taken me down an incline to where the large, oval water pond is but I chose to go left this time. Even so, the pool is visible and the planted rose bushes are in bloom all around it. There seems to be a bigger variety of rose colors than in the botanical gardens.
From where were walking, there are 4 or 5 levels to go down before you reach the pool. We continued on our walk until we reached the end of the pool and then went down one level to get a closer view of the roses. There were different shades of colors as well as roses with 2 different colors. Joan loved it.
After seeing all the different colored roses, we took a path to another section where we sat on a bench for a while. It was nice sitting there among all the trees and enjoying the quiet of the park. It is quieter than Solacz.
In the distance, I could see what I have only seen in pictures, the monument, "The Unrecognized".
Unveiled as part of Pozna艅’s 750th birthday celebrations in 2002, this massive troop of towering, headless cast iron figures marching aimlessly across Citadel Park is officially titled “The Unrecognised”. 112 in all, each measuring 2 meters(6"6') tall, the odd installation is the work of local arts grad and international art star Magdalena Abakanowicz, who is keeping mum on its meaning. Those with ties to Chicago might recognize a similar installation in Grant Park.
To get to it though, I had to push Joan over some dirt and grass path as it stands alone in one field.
To by艂 dzie艅 na granol臋 z owocowym 艣niadaniem i 艂adn膮 pogod臋. Zabra艂em Joann臋 o 11:00 do Parku Citadela. Byli艣my tam ju偶 kilka razy, ale bardziej sk艂aniamy si臋 ku Parkowi Solackiemu, poniewa偶 jest blisko naszego mieszkania. Bycie wcze艣nie, znalezienie miejsca parkingowego i wej艣cie do parku by艂o 艂atwe.
Zaparkowali艣my w pobli偶u g艂贸wnego budynku i zobaczyli艣my bardzo 艂adn膮 kolekcj臋 lokalnych i zagranicznych kwiat贸w posadzonych przed budynkiem. Park jest oko艂o 5 razy wi臋kszy ni偶 Solacz i wci膮偶 s膮 cz臋艣ci, w kt贸rych nie byli艣my.
Mimo to basen jest widoczny, a wok贸艂 niego kwitn膮 krzewy r贸偶.
Kontynuowali艣my nasz spacer, a偶 dotarli艣my do ko艅ca basenu, a nast臋pnie zeszli艣my na jeden poziom, aby uzyska膰 bli偶szy widok na r贸偶e. By艂y tam r贸偶ne odcienie kolor贸w, a tak偶e r贸偶e w 2 r贸偶nych kolorach. Joan by艂a zachwycona.
Po obejrzeniu wszystkich r贸偶nokolorowych r贸偶 udali艣my si臋 艣cie偶k膮 do innej sekcji, gdzie usiedli艣my na chwil臋 na 艂awce. Mi艂o by艂o siedzie膰 w艣r贸d drzew i cieszy膰 si臋 cisz膮 parku. Jest tu ciszej ni偶 w Solaczu.
W oddali mog艂em zobaczy膰 to, co widzia艂em tylko na zdj臋ciach, pomnik "Nierozpoznani".
Ods艂oni臋ty w ramach obchod贸w 750. urodzin Poznania w 2002 roku, ten pot臋偶ny oddzia艂 wysokich, bezg艂owych 偶eliwnych postaci maszeruj膮cych bez celu przez Park Cytadela nosi oficjalny tytu艂 "Nierozpoznani". W sumie 112, z kt贸rych ka偶da mierzy 2 metry wysoko艣ci, ta dziwna instalacja jest dzie艂em lokalnej absolwentki sztuki i mi臋dzynarodowej gwiazdy sztuki Magdaleny Abakanowicz, kt贸ra milczy na temat jej znaczenia. Osoby zwi膮zane z Chicago mog膮 rozpozna膰 podobn膮 instalacj臋 w Parku Granta.
Aby si臋 do niej dosta膰, musia艂em jednak przepchn膮膰 Joan przez poln膮 i trawiast膮 艣cie偶k臋, poniewa偶 stoi ona samotnie na jednym polu.
