Stary Rynek

The major renovation of Poznań's old town Stary Rynek has been going on for quite some time.  So long, in fact, that tourists and restaurant owners are complaining more loudly. One owner said his revenue from his restaurant has only 20%  of what it was a year ago and that's a bad result. 

The complaints are about the noise created by all the machinery used to accomplish the renovation and the barriers in place. Even getting to the Rynek is difficult because of all the streets that are dug up. The narrow access to the market is sometimes covered in mud or sand. The heavy equipment is supposed to be gone in November but then there is still all the grouting and paving to be completed. I have doubts it will be completed by the end of the year.

Construction or renovation takes a long time to complete usually. There are a few companies that seem to work more rapidly and efficiently but on average that is not the case. There doesn't seem to be many contracts that state when a job will be finished and if it isn't, there is a daily amount of money that the worker/company loses or pays. I think that would change the situation for the better.

In Warsaw, there is a large military parade to show off all of the new equipment that has been bought by the military to modernize the Polish army. Putin made a serious mistake when he invaded Ukraine thinking it would be a quick war. It did just the opposite in regards to him thinking there would be no response from other countries and NATO. Sweden and Finland are now part of NATO and stronger than ever.

Gruntowny remont poznańskiego Starego Rynku trwa już od dłuższego czasu.  Tak długo, że turyści i właściciele restauracji coraz głośniej narzekają. Jeden z właścicieli powiedział, że jego przychody z restauracji wynoszą zaledwie 20% tego, co rok temu, a to zły wynik. 

Skargi dotyczą hałasu generowanego przez wszystkie maszyny używane do przeprowadzenia renowacji i barier. Nawet dojazd do Rynku jest utrudniony z powodu rozkopanych ulic. Wąskie dojście do rynku jest czasami pokryte błotem lub piaskiem. Ciężki sprzęt ma zniknąć w listopadzie, ale potem trzeba jeszcze dokończyć fugowanie i układanie nawierzchni. Mam wątpliwości, czy uda się to zrobić do końca roku.

Budowa lub renowacja zwykle zajmuje dużo czasu. Jest kilka firm, które wydają się pracować szybciej i wydajniej, ale przeciętnie tak nie jest. Wydaje się, że nie ma wielu kontraktów, które określałyby, kiedy praca zostanie ukończona, a jeśli nie, istnieje dzienna kwota pieniędzy, którą pracownik/firma traci lub płaci. Myślę, że to zmieniłoby sytuację na lepsze.

W Warszawie odbywa się duża parada wojskowa, aby pochwalić się całym nowym sprzętem, który został zakupiony przez wojsko w celu modernizacji polskiej armii. Putin popełnił poważny błąd, gdy najechał Ukrainę, myśląc, że będzie to szybka wojna. Stało się dokładnie odwrotnie, ponieważ myślał, że nie będzie reakcji ze strony innych krajów i NATO. Szwecja i Finlandia są teraz częścią NATO i są silniejsze niż kiedykolwiek.
