We went to the U.S. consulate to turn in our absentee presidential ballots. Since we were so close to the Rynek we walked down the street to see if the outside cafes were still doing business in this cool weather. Most of them are still there but starting to close down.
We were there just before noon and the crowd of spectators was gathering in front of the old town hall to see the goats. At the top of the clock tower are two mechanical goats that come out from behind a door at noon and butt heads. They do that several times and then return behind the doors. It's a tourist attraction and there were lots of them in front of the hall. One girl in particular caught our attention with her orange hair. We finished watching, went back to car and drove to do our food shopping for the week.
In the Warsaw Voice I read that housing completions fell by 8.8% year on year to 10,540 apartments in August, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) said Wednesday.The figure constitutes a decline of 27.1% from the July total. Year-to-date, housing completions of 92,986 are up 22.5% from the year-prior period. Maybe prices will start coming down.

Poszliśmy do amerykańskiego konsulatu by skręcić w naszym nieobecnym prezydenckie tajne głosowania. Odkąd byliśmy tak blisko Rynek chodziliśmy blisko na tej samej ulicy by zobaczyć jeżeli zewnętrzne kawiarnie jeszcze robiły biznes w tej chłodnej pogodzie. Najwięcej z nich są jeszcze tam ale zaczynający być zamkniętym.
Byliśmy tam tuż przed południem i tłum widzów zbierał się przed starym ratuszem by zobaczyć kozły.

The tower photos are awesome! Thank you for sharing them... And yes, that young lady has some wild hair!
Wondering, David - what software are you using to translate your blog into Polish? I'm interested in purchasing some - and have done a wee bit of investigating, but I don't want to end up purchasing something that isn't very user-friendly, or that just plain sucks.
Let me know!!
And keep up the interesting blogging!

So you have voted! At least you are missing the political commercials. They are the worst tht I can remember. The outright lying by some of the groups is putting me right up the wall! An example without getting too political. There is an ad in my state against one candidate purporting that he doesn't want union members to have private ballots for elections. The ad is sponsored by the U. S. Chamber of Commerce. Since when is that group an advocate of union right?!?
Coming home today I heard on National Public Radio that the election is split right now. What is different, according to the story, is that for this election the American public really doesn't have a firm opinion on who will win.
Amy,
The program I use is at this website..........http://www.empik.com/tlumacz-i-slownik-jezyka-angielskiego-4-multimedia,2790765,p;
You can buy it in the U.S. but it's double the price or more. Here, in Poland, it's about $32. It is not 100% peerent acurrate by any means but my Polish readers get the point of what I write though sometimes the translation comes out very funny. I have bought it here for 3 of my readers and sent it to them in the U.S. to save them money. Maybe they will read this and say whether or not the program is good for them.
Amy,
P.S. It is very user friendly. You type in your English, hit the translate button and on the lower half of the screen it appears in translation. Odr, you can paste Polish in the top half, hit translate and it translates into English. It also comes with a dictionary for looking up words.
I'm one of the readers that David sent the program to... and I find it very good. (Of course I don't read Polish very well so I can't say 100% that it's great) but ... to my eyes... the translated pieces look "better" than they would with the freebie translators on the Internet.
