Goodbye Oliwia

Yesterday I found out Oliwia was leaving for England from the Poznań airport at 6:10 this morning. It gave me another chance to see her before she left so I woke up this morning at 5AM and arrived at the airport at 5:30. I couldn't find her anywhere. There were only 10 people waiting for flights so it would have been impossible not to see her. I walked the short distance from end to the other, went outside, back inside but still no Oliwia. I looked at the flight board and her flight was scheduled for 6:10 and the plane was taking passengers. I waited, 5:55 and still no sign. 6:10, the plane was ready and taking off. No Oliwia. I watched the plane depart, went home and wrote an email to her father. He answered and said she had to be at the airport at 5AM. I was too late. He took two pictures which he sent to me.

At 11AM I went to go to immigration to drop off some information and since I was there and it was a beautiful day, I walked to the hill where stands Przemyl's castle. in the second half of the 13th century, soon after the foundation of Poznań. This castle was erected by Przemysl I. It was completed by Przemysl II, who was then King of Poland. The only thing that remains today is the northern part. The whole castle is still waiting to be rebuilt.

From there it is a nice view down to the Stary Rynek and the Franciscan church of St. Anthony of Padua. It is famous for its magnificient Baroque decorations on the inside. I took some pictures and then walked down Kramanska street to the Salesian church.

Hundreds of years ago this church was known as the Catherine church. It was a common name for the Dominican nuns, for whom the church was founded in the 13th century. After the convent was abolished in 1822 and closed down, it served as a warehouse. In 1927 it was restored to its sacred function by the Salesians. The church was closed but the foyer was open and I was able to take pictures through the round window. I particularly like the white stained glass windows.

From there it was a short walk to the large synogogue. This place was completely decimated by the Nazi's. There are plans to restore it to its pre-Nazi splendor. They were not only murderers of people but also art, architecture, cemeteries, ideas, cultures and societies. This is something that should not be forgotten by future generations.

Back at Plac Wolności they have erected a small Eifel Tower. I don't know the reason for it. Maybe the president of France is coming for a visit.

Wczoraj wynajdowałem, że Oliwia wyruszał do Anglii od lotniska Poznań o 6:10 dzisiaj rano. To dało mi inną szansę by zobaczyć ją przed ona wyruszyło tak budziłem się dzisiaj rano przy 5AM i przybyłem do lotniska o 5:30. Nie mógłbym znaleźć jej gdziekolwiek. Tam byli tylko 10 ludzi czekający na loty tak to byłoby niemożliwe nie by zobaczyć ją. Chodziłem mała odległość od końca do innego, poszedłem na zewnątrz, w tył wewnątrz ale jeszcze żaden Oliwia. Popatrzałem na deskę lotu i jej lot był zaplanowany dla 6:10 i samolot brała pasażerów. Czekałem, 5:55 i jeszcze żaden znak. 6:10, samolot była gotowa i skacząca. Żaden Oliwia.

Obserwowałem samolot odchodzą, poszła do domu i napisała email do jej ojca. On odpowiedział i powiedział, że ona musi być przy lotnisku przy 5AM. Byłem za późno. On zrobił dwa zdjęcia, które on wysłał do mnie.

Ten zamek był wzniesiony przez Przemysl ja. To było uzupełnione przez Przemysl II, który był wtedy Król Polski. Jedyna rzecz, która pozostaje dzisiaj jest północna część. Cały zamek jeszcze czeka by być ponownie zbudowany.

Stamtąd to jest miły widok na dół do Stary Rynek i franciszkańskiego kościoła św. Anthony′ego Padwy. To jest sławne z jego magnificient Barokowych ozdób na wewnątrz. Zrobiłem kilka zdjęć i wtedy zszedłem Kramanska ulicę do kościoła Salesian.

Setki lat temu ten kościół był znany jak kościół Catherine. To była nazwa pospolita dla dominikanek, dla których kościół był założony w 13. stuleciu. Gdy klasztor był obalony w 1822 i zamknięty, to posłużyło jak magazyn. W 1927 to było przywrócone do jego świętej funkcji przez Salesians. Kościół był zamknięty ale foyer było otwarte i mogłem zrobić zdjęcia przez okrągłe okno. Szczególnie lubię białe okna witrażowe.

Stamtąd to był krótki spacer do wielkiego synogogue. To miejsce było zupełnie zdziesiątkowane przez hitlerowca. Tam mają plany przywrócić to do jego pre-hitlerowskiej wspaniałości. Oni byli nie tylko mordercami ludzi ale też sztuką, architekturą, cmentarzami, ideami, kulturami i społeczeństwami. To jest coś, które nie powinno być zapomniane przez przyszłe pokolenia.

W tył w Plac Wolności oni wznieśli małą Eifel Wieżę. Nie znam powodu tego. Być może prezydent Francji przychodzi dla wizyty.
