Friends!

Joan and I have been blessed with two friends in Pozna艅. We usually see them both at least once a week and look forward to each visit. What makes them so extraordinary is their willingness to go out of their way to help us when we have a problem. I will give you an example of that now.

Last week I mentioned that Joan had not had a mammogram since we came to Poland and thought she was way overdue. When Joan saw our family doctor and told her about this, the doctor gave the name of the hospital Joan should go to and that was all she said. When I talked with Joanna about it, she said she would investigate it further and get back to us. Yesterday, when we were in Golina and I had my phone sound turned off, she called us three times to talk to us but I didn't hear the calls. She called Zbyszek to see what was happening with us that day. Later in the evening, when we got home, Zbyszek called to say that Joanna had arranged and appointment today at 9AM at the hospital for Joan's mammogram and asked Zbyszek if he would go with us in case there was any language problems.

This morning at 8:30AM we picked up Zbyszek, drove to the hospital and then asked the receptionist to call the person who Joanna made the arrangement with. In 5 minutes that person arrived downstairs to us, took Joan's documents, went to registration, registered Joan, took us through the hospital to a doctor for Joan's examination, walked us to the room where Joan gave her personal information and then went back to his work. From there, the girl who took the information walked Joan to the mammogram room, waited while Joan had the pictures taken and then said it would be about 3 weeks for the results. All of this took one hour and saved us at least three hours of waiting and the frustration of trying to speak in Polish to get what we needed and where to go. After going through the radiation treatments in this same hospital, through registration, waiting for doctors, trying to find out where I should go, etc, etc, etc, I found it was amazing how easy it could be for people if they all were treated as we were today in this hospital. So all I can say is that we are very thankful to have these two friends in our lives and if you are reading this............................THANK YOU for being our friends.

Joan i ja zosta艂em pob艂ogos艂awiony dw贸ch przyjaci贸艂 w Poznaniu.

W zesz艂ym tygodniu m贸wi艂em, 偶e Joanna nie mia艂a mammografia od doszli艣my do Polska i my艣leli, 偶e tak p贸藕no. Joan kiedy zobaczy艂am naszego lekarza rodzinnego i powiedzia艂 jej o tym, lekarz da艂 nazw臋 szpitala powinien i艣膰 do Joan i to wszystko powiedzia艂a. Kiedy rozmawia艂em o tym z Joanna, ona powiedzia艂a, 偶e badanie to dalej i wr贸ci膰 do nas. Wczoraj, kiedy byli艣my w Golina i mia艂em wy艂膮czony d藕wi臋k telefonu, da艂a nam trzy razy z nami rozmawia膰, ale nie s艂ysza艂em rozmowy.

Dzi艣 rano o 8:30 AM wybrali艣my si臋 Zbyszek, pojechali艣my do szpitala, a nast臋pnie zwr贸ci艂 si臋 do recepcji, aby zadzwoni膰 do osoby, kt贸ra dokona艂a Joanna uk艂ad z. W ci膮gu 5 minut osoba przyby艂a na d贸艂 do nas, wzi膮艂 Joan dokumenty, uda艂 si臋 do rejestracji, zarejestrowany Joan, zaj臋艂o nam przez szpital do lekarza na badania Joanny, odprowadzi艂 nas do pokoju, gdzie Joan da艂a jej dane osobowe, a nast臋pnie wr贸ci艂 do pracy. Stamt膮d, dziewczyna, kt贸ra mia艂a informacje poszed艂 do pokoju Joan mammografia, czeka艂 przy Joan mia艂a zdj臋cia zrobione, a nast臋pnie powiedzia艂, 偶e jest oko艂o 3 tygodni na wyniki. Wszystko to mia艂o jedn膮 godzin臋, a uratowa艂 nas co najmniej trzy godziny oczekiwania i frustracji pr贸buje m贸wi膰 w j臋zyku polskim, aby uzyska膰 to, co potrzebne i gdzie si臋 uda膰. Po przej艣ciu leczenia promieniowaniem w tym samym szpitalu, w drodze rejestracji, czekaj膮c na lekarza, pr贸buj膮c dowiedzie膰 si臋, gdzie mam i艣膰, etc, etc, etc, znalaz艂em to by艂o niesamowite, jak 艂atwo mo偶e by膰 dla ludzi, je艣li wszystkie by艂y traktowane jak byli艣my dzi艣 w szpitalu. Wi臋c wszystko, co mog臋 powiedzie膰, 偶e jeste艣my bardzo wdzi臋czni do tych dw贸ch przyjaci贸艂 w naszym 偶yciu i je艣li to czytasz ......................... ... Dzi臋kuj臋 za to, 偶e nasi przyjaciele.
