Building the cafes.

Finally they are setting up the outdoor cafes in the Rynek. Last year at this time they were all in place by now but this has been a cold and snowy March so they delayed the setup. I think we've finally seen our last snow of this winter and now only warmer weather lies ahead.  YIPPEEEEEEEEE!!

Unfortunately, one of our favorite basketball teams, Michigan, lost the Championship game last night and college basketball is over.  The game wasn't broadcast live to Europe but it was possible to watch a replay of the whole game. With the growing interest in basketball in Europe you would think they would broadcast it more here to promote the sport. It is possible to watch some live NBA games but they are usually at 2 or 3 in the morning and only if you cable includes such channels as Canal+ which ours does not. We could add it to our programs but the added cost isn't worth it for us.
Some American programs are broadcast here but the voices of each show are covered over by what they call a Lektor.  That is one person who speaks for all the characters in Polish and the English is too quiet to hear. We had a friend in Gdańsk who had a special extra box that allowed him to switch off the Lektor and hear the programs in the English language.

Wreszcie w Rynku rozstawiane są kawiarenki na zewnątrz budynków. W zeszłym roku o tej porze wszystko było rozstawione, ale teraz  był zimny i śnieżny marzec,  co opóźniło ich wystawienie. Myślę, że w końcu widać ostatni śnieg tej zimy i teraz tylko czeka nas cieplejsza pogoda. YIPPEEEEEEEEE!

Niestety, jeden z naszych ulubionych zespołów koszykarskich, Michigan, przegrał wczoraj Championship i jego udział  jest zakończony. Gra nie była transmitowana na żywo w Europie, ale  można było obejrzeć powtórkę z całej gry. Wraz z rosnącym zainteresowaniem koszykówki w Europie można by pomyśleć, że to będą więcej meczy transmitować i  promować sport. Można pooglądać na żywo gry NBA, ale są one zazwyczaj o 2 lub ​​3 w nocy i tylko wtedy, gdy kabel obejmuje takie kanały jak Canal +, które nasz nie posiada. Możemy dodać je do naszych programów, ale koszty dodatkowe nie są dla nas tego warte.

Niektóre amerykańskie programy są tutaj transmitowane, ale na oryginalne głosy każdego programu nałożony jest głos lektora. To jest jedna osoba, która czyta tekst wszystkich postaci w języku polskim a  język angielski jest tak wyciszony, że go nie słychać. Mieliśmy znajomego w Gdańsku, który posiadał specjalne dodatkowe urządzenie, które pozwoliło mu wyłączyć Lektora i słuchac programy w języku angielskim.
