Caravaca.
A late start today because there was no need to rush. At 12:30 with the temperature already at 21c and full sun in an ocean blue sky, we set out for Caravaca de la Cruz. It was a 1 hour 10 minute drive to the mountain town and we arrived just as most places were closing for siesta.
Maneuvering through the narrow streets I climbed up the hill to where the fortress/Basilica stood atop the hill overlooking the city. Naturally, being 14:00, it was closed and wouldn't reopen until 16:00. We parked the car next to it and Joan sat on a bench while I walked around it taking pictures of the outside. About 14:45 we drove down the hill, found a restaurant that was open and had lunch.
Lunch was more like dinner with the amount of food we had. Tapas, calamari(but not fired like I like) bruschetta. pork, potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, clams and coffee. By the time we were done eating it was 17:00 so we went back to the Basilica to go inside of it.
It was open and it is the smallest Basilica I've seen but very nice. Attached to it are the Cloisters and a museums.
