2 events

Yesterday I was ready to go at 10:15. I put on a black t-shirt, shorts, sandals and a backpack with water and a camera.  Then I received a phone call and I had to change my plan. My original plan was to attend the Funeral Procession of the Past organized by the group Extinction Rebellion. From the look of the pictures I posted, I would have been the oldest member of the march from the Opera House to the Town Hall. The event was a protest about climate change, something I feel strongly about. The majority of the attendees were young people, around 250 in total. That, in itself, was disappointing from a city of over 500,000 people.

When I returned home, Joan and I went to Plac Wolności for a coffee and arrived just in time to see Plac Wolności fill up with motorcycles of all types for a parade.

The parade is traditionally organized in connection with the Solidarity and Freedom Day celebrated on August 31. Motorcyclists left at 14:00 from Plac Wolności. The parade traveled over a dozen kilometers or so, passing places related to Poland's regaining independence and the history of Solidarity. Special maps, motorcycle scarves plus a surprise had been prepared for all participants of the parade. At the finish line, there were refreshments and a concert by the "Wolny Elektron" band. The event was also accompanied by representatives of historical reconstruction groups from Poznań and Ostrów Wielkopolski.

Wczoraj byłem gotowy do wyjścia o 10:15. Włożyłem czarny t-shirt, szorty, sandały i plecak z wodą i aparatem. Potem otrzymałem telefon i musiałem zmienić plan. Większość uczestników to młodzi ludzie, w sumie około 250 osób. To samo w sobie rozczarowało miasto ponad 500 000 osób.
