Aula Hall
Early in my life the path I chose for it was that of a professional classical/jazz guitarist. I practiced 8 hours a day, attended DePaul University as a classical guitar major, taught guitar for more than 10 years and was on my way to meet my goal. Then one day I discovered I had carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand which began affecting my playing and decided to have an operation to correct the problem. Unfortunately it did not and from that point on my playing began going downhill. It did, however, change my life and after a year and a half of trying to continue, I gave up playing and moved to the forest of Michigan where I built my house. The love of the instrument never left and so any opportunity to go and listen to someone play was always my choice.
Tonight Joan and I had the opportunity to go to the Aula concert hall and listen to four classical guitarists perform with orchestra. One was from Spain, one from Greece, one from France and one from Poland. From my years of studying the instrument I was familiar with the four concertos played and have them all on CD's. Earlier in the day I played all four concertos on CD for Joan so she would be familiar with them when she heard them tonight. The concert started at 7PM and was over at about 10PM.
It was an evening of Spanish music, with 4 concertos by Joaquín Rodrigo performed by an international ensemble, featuring Gabriel Bianco, Łukasz Kuropaczewski, the Melis Duo, and the Aukso Orchestra conducted by Marek Moś. The Polish players was by far the best of the four players.
We arrived at 6:40PM and, because I had purchased the tickets only two days after they went on sale, we had excellent seats in the fourth row. The hall itself is not very big. The main floor is shaped in a U with a balcony that surrounds it.
It was a nice night outside so to finish off the evening we went to the rynek for coffee and talked about the music and performers we heard.

Slideshow on the right.
Dzisiaj Joan i miałem okazję, aby przejść do sali Aula koncert i posłuchać czterech klasycznych gitarzystów wykonania z orkiestrą. Jeden był z Hiszpanii, jeden z Grecji, jeden z Francji i jeden z Polska.
