Wroclaw

Woke up to pouring rain this morning, definitely not good for taking a bus and tram to the train station so we took a cab instead. Pity, because I already had the tickets for the bus and tram but we can use them at another time.

The train arrived on time. It was a train from the 1950's type with old seats, squeaky brakes but it made it to Wrocław with no problems. Because it was a regional train, we had 32 stops on the way there and it took 3 hours. That was still better than driving our car and the ride was enjoyable although long.

We were going to walk to our hostel but rain again prevented that so it was back into a cab for the ride to the Royal Hostel. We checked in and went for a walk to the rynek. At first I couldn't believe how small it was until I realized this was only a small rynek that led to the big one and it is BIG. I think four of Poznań's rynek could fit into this one. There are some beautiful old buildings in the rynek and outside of it too. The Mary Magdaline church was unique for it's square towers, the glass fountain in the rynek that we learned was not a favorite of locals and another large church with a tower you can climb to the top of. I'm thinking of doing that before we leave.

We spent about three hours in the rynek and then walked down to the Odra river, went across it and had coffee and cake in a nice restaurant overlooking the bank. I don't think many tourists get that far away from the main sites so it was nice to find this place across the river from the university.

Obudziłem się dziś rano, leje deszcz, na pewno nie jest dobra na podjęcie autobusem i tramwajem do dworca kolejowego więc wzięliśmy taksówkę zamiast. Szkoda, bo już bilety na autobus i tramwaj, ale możemy z nich korzystać w innym czasie

Pociąg przyjechał na czas. Pociąg z 1950 roku stary typ z siedzeń, hamulce piskliwy, ale się go do Wrocławia bez żadnych problemów. Bo to był pociąg regionalny, to miał 32 przystanków po drodze i trzeba było 3 godziny. To było jeszcze lepiej niż kierowcy samochodu i jazda była przyjemna, chociaż długo.

Mieliśmy chodzić do naszego hostelu, ale deszcz uniemożliwił, że tak było z powrotem do kabiny do jazdy na Royal Hostel. Sprawdziliśmy i poszedł na spacer do Rynku. Na początku nie mogłem uwierzyć, jak małe było aż zdałem sobie sprawę, był to tylko mały Rynek, które doprowadziły do dużego i to jest BIG. Myślę, że cztery z Rynku w Poznaniu mógłby pasować do tego. Nie są piękne stare budynki w Rynku i poza nim też. Mary kościół Magdaline był wyjątkowy bo to kwadratowe wieże, fontanna ze szkła w rynek dowiedział się, że nie był ulubieńcem miejscowych i inny duży kościół z wieżą można wspinać się na szczyt. Mam na myśli sposób, że przed wyjazdem.

Spędziliśmy około trzech godzin w rynek, a następnie poszedł w dół do rzeki Odry, poszedł w poprzek i mieliśmy kawę i ciastko w miłej restauracji z widokiem na bank. Nie wydaje mi się, że wielu turystów z dala od głównych miejsc tak było miło, aby znaleźć to miejsce po drugiej stronie rzeki od uniwersytetu.
